Booties

Now that it is officially Fall, all I want to wear are booties. I love how they can be worn casually or to dress a look up. It's even better that they come in so many different styles! It does not help my indecisiveness though haha. I can see myself pairing the Carvela Kurt Geiger booties with this Rag & Bone destroyed zipper jeans & DKNY open cardigan on a casual day for bunch or wear the Joe's Jeans booties with Self Portrait lace skirt for a date night. Do you guys have any favorite pairs of booties?

Half Leather

Dress: Laundry by Shelli Segal via Nordstrom Rack, similar herehere, here, and here // Shoes: JustFab // Necklace: c/o Mall of Style, also love this // Ring: Madewell (old), similar here
Something about Fall makes me want to wear leather... like all the time.  I can't help it. Leather looks great on almost anything. It adds a nice touch of chic and edginess to any outfit. Even wearing just a sweater with leather leggings like this one will make a great look. One of my favorite ways to wear leather is to pair it with deep colors. Aside from leather, I love anything plum, burgundy, maroon, and wine red color for Fall. So when I came across this dress at Nordstrom Rack, I knew I just had to take it home with me!

Wedding Wednesdays: Engagement Photos - Outfit 1 (Tips on finding a Photographer)

When Tre and I were looking for a photographer, there was a specific style we wanted. We wanted to make sure whoever took our photos that he/she could capture the laughter, joy, and happiness without  it being posed.  We did a lot, and I mean a lot of searching. It was really important to us to find that perfect photographer. We wanted someone that could take us back to that time and place and feel as if we were there each time we look at the photos. That's when Tre and I came across Blossom Lane Photography. We instantly connected with Meagan. She completely understood what we wanted: romantic, candid, use of natural light, and capturing the little details.  We couldn't be more happy with how our engagement photos turned out. We have no doubt in our mind that she will do an incredible job at our wedding!

So here are a few photos from one of our outfits. These photos were taken at North Ave Beach.

ME Dress: JOA (Sold out), similar here & here // Shoes: Betsey Johnson (old), similar here //  Necklace: Madewell (old), similar here // Earrings: c/o Majestical Jewelry, also love this // Bracelet: a gift from Tre, similar here
TRE Shirt: Gap (on sale now!) // Pants: Gap (on sale now) // Belt: J. Crew (additional 25% off with code SHOPFORFALL) // Shoes: Sandro Moscoloni

This leads me to speak about choosing your photographer. Prior to searching for one, it is important you know the style of photos you want. This will help narrow down the thousands of wedding photographers that will populate in your google search. If you're unsure of your style, go through different wedding blogs. I got my inspiration from Style Me Pretty, Ruffled Blog, 100 layer Cake, and Pinterest. Here are a few tips:

1. Once you have narrowed it down, go through the photographer's portfolio on their website. If they don't have one, don't hesitate to ask for a sample of their work! Remember, you want to be sure that you will be pleased with the end result.

2. Look up reviews on the photographers. Read what previous clients thought about them when they worked with the photographer(s). We found most of the reviews on Wedding Wire.

3. Check if their website provides a price for their service. You don't want to waste your or the photographer's time if you can't afford their service. If it is not on there, don't hesitate to contact them and ask!

4. Schedule an appointment with the photographer. Probably at this step, you and the photographer have exchanged several emails. However, meeting the photographer in person is important. Sometimes in an email, you can't capture the person's personality and style. I know that when I send emails, I tend to sound formal. In reality, I'm the complete opposite. When you meet your photographer, you get a better understanding of their style and see if there's a connection - which you don't get in an email. When Tre and I met Meagan, we got a long with her so well. She was able to describe what we wanted when we couldn't describe it ourselves! Plus, she was fun to hang around with! Getting along with your photographer is key.  This can assure you that your big day will go smoothly with him/her.

5. Once you guys have selected a photographer, make sure your photo package includes an engagement session. Yes, it may cost a little extra money, but it is totally worth it. During an engagement session, you will get a chance to see your photographer at work before your wedding day. You get a feel for how he/she operates and an opportunity to see how the photos turned out before your wedding. This can assure you that you guys picked the right one or may need to select a new one (make sure you read the photographer's policy before deciding to back out!).

Tre and I can't thank Blossom Lane Photography enough for taking these photos!! :)

Shopbop App

For those who have not noticed, one of my favorite places to shop is Shopbop. Shopbop carries a wide variety of brands and designers such that it can fit any occasion and style. And that's not the best part. The best part is how quick they ship your item! Every purchase I have made has arrived within 2-3 days. So great for those last minute buys!

Shopbop just got better. They recently came out with an app for your smartphone. Yes, this means you can shop on the go! So convenient for me. There are instances when I forget I have some event coming in a few days and would need to shop asap. This app has made it easy for me. I shop on the spot and get the item just in time for the event!

Download the app by searching Shopbop on the Apple store.
Enter the app and start browsing!

One of my favorite features of Shopbop is that I can 'heart' the things I like so Shopbop can save it. This is great when I want to keep an eye on something so I can save my money for it and know exactly where to find it or keep an eye out for when it goes on sale.

Black and nude are one of my favorite color combinations. They are classic, timeless, and chic. These colors are no doubt a wardrobe staple. I wanted to add some color to this look, but I did not want the color to overpower the nude and black. So I accessorized with this Essex LA Louie Clutch. It gives just the right amount of pop of color. What colors do you think are wardrobe staples?

In the mood to shop this weekend?! Here are some deals going on. I know I will take advantage of it haha. Happy Shopping!

I wore this during Tre and I's three year anniversary in NYC.  However, when we were about to step out to take photos it started to downpour. So unfortunately, no photos were taken with this dress in NYC :(  So I decided to re-do this outfit for you all. On the bright side, it gave me an excuse to wear this dress again! I love how well the cobalt blue and floral print go together. Their combination makes such a statement that I really didn't need to accessorize much.

Wedding Wednesdays: Color Theme

Originally, I imagined the colors of my wedding to be coral with accents of ivory and mint and everything to be bright and bold.  After I got engaged, I revisited my Pinterest wedding board and noticed there's rarely any coral. In fact, most of my wedding inspirations were hues of pink. All the colors were soft and delicate, which was opposite of the bright neon color I imagined. Keep in mind, all the stuff I pinned was based on what caught my attention and had no direction. So I was surprised to see a theme.

It was a no brainer that my wedding should follow the pink blush theme. I immediately picked gold and ivory as accent colors. They just go so well with pink blush! Plus, I love the color gold :)

Even though the color of my wedding did not turn out as I originally planned, I am glad (maybe slightly obsessed haha) with my current color choice. This color matches my personality more, and I love how blush easily gives that romantic vibe. Now all I want to wear and decorate with are pink blush and gold. What are your wedding color inspirations?

** All images were found on Google image, excluding the center photo which I have created as a palette inspiration**

1. 525 American Basic Crew Neck // 2. JOA Cable Knit Sweater // 3. Marc by Marc Jacobs Watch // 4. BB Dakota Jacket //  5.  Endless Rose Blazer // 6. Soludos Shoes // 7. Marais Flats (on sale now!!) // 8. Plush Leggings // 9. Cambridge Satchel

This week, Chicago's weather became Fall overnight. Last Monday, it was hot and humid and then the following day the temperature was in the 50s. My body was definitely in shock and I was freezing! The remainder of the week stayed in the 50s. So this week, I've been craving chunky and oversize sweaters and layering pieces. I definitely want to add more neutral colors and comfortable pieces into my closet. All nine of these items can easily transition from work to casual.

Kidogo Kidogo: Cases that Care

Top: Forever 21 // Jeans: J. Brand // iPhone case: c/o Kidogo Kidogo // Shoes: Madden Girl // Rings: H&M, also love this (and on sale too!!)  // Bracelet: Lily & Laura // Necklace: Dress and Dwell (old), similar here

For those who don't know, I LOVE when a brand's mission is for philanthropic reasons. Helping others is one of the things I'm passionate about, and I try to give back whenever I can. So whenever my love for fashion and philanthropy collide, I'm all for it!

To be honest, at first I was drawn to this Kidogo Kidogo iPhone case because it's just too cute! I love the combination of pastel blue & pink and there's flamingos! The flamingos are adorable! Later I learned that the purpose for these adorable iPhone cases is to help the women of Tanzania. Kidogo Kidogo was created to assist low income women in Tanzania to have access to cell phones. These women never had access to mobile phones and have no way of communicating with family and friends. Kidogo Kidogo's iPhone cases not only look good, but they do good. These are cases that care.

So how does it work you say? For every 2 iPhone cases bought from Kidogo Kidogo, a woman in Tanzania will receive one cell phone, SIM card, and cell phone credit. Seriously, it's that easy. So not only will you be buying a super cute iPhone case, you have also made a difference in someone's life. You can read all about how a cell phone has changed these women's lives here.
