Season Opener

For all you sports enthusiasts, I'm sure you know that today is the season opener for most MLB teams. I'm not a sports fanatic, but I don't mind watching sports. I love when I can feel the intensity of the game that I start to stress and get emotional. However, baseball is one of the sports that can't seem to catch my attention. Maybe it's because baseball is not as fast paced as basketball (Go Bulls!) or football. Nevertheless, I still root for a baseball team. Yea I know what you're thinking... why am I wearing a Cleveland Indians hat when I'm from Chicago?! Well, it's because I'm neither a Cubs or Sox fan. Since I don't follow baseball, why not support the same team Tre is into. Go Tribe! It makes baseball more exciting since Tre is really excited about the team! Plus, I love how well navy blue and red looks ;) - which I have in my closet. I can quickly come up with an outfit that shows some tribe pride!

Off to Baltimore

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Fedora: D&Y, similar here, here, here // Cardigan: Madewell (old), similar here // Tee: J. Crew (old), also love this // Bag: Thrift store, similar here // Leggings: Target (old), similar here // Shoes: Nine West // Watch: Marc By Marc Jacobs (old), similar here // Bracelets: J. Crew (old - similar here) , Lily & Laura,  H&M (old - similar here) // Rings: H&M, also love this
Right now at this moment, I'm at the airport heading to Baltimore for a meeting. I've never been there before, so it is exciting to see what it's like! We are also going out to dinner tonight at an oyster house. I'm excited! I love oysters! Unfortunately, I will not have time to sighstee. It's one of those meetings you fly in and fly out the next day. If I'm able to squeeze in any sightseeing, you will be sure to see through Instagram :)

Not gonna lie, whenever I travel, I plan my 'airport outfit'. If you haven't noticed, airports are the unspoken Fashion Week. There's so much personality, trends, and street style going on. I get a lot of my outfit inspirations from people's airport outfits. Airport outfits are chic yet comfortable and practical. I love how creative some people get with layering and styling with basics. I can't help but get inspired! So here is what I am currently wearing to the airport. However, I am not wearing the red heels (hint: took these photos couple days before -I had to figure out what I wanted to wear!). Instead, I'm wearing flats. Talk to you guys when I'm back!

Rack it up

Monday, March 24, 2014

Dress: Laundry by Shellie Segal via Nordstrom Rack, similar here and here // Shoes: Joan and David (on sale now!!) //  Clutch: Vintage bought via Vintage Bazaar, similar here and here   //  Bracelet:  gift from Tre, similar here and here

Last Wednesday I realized I did not have a new outfit to wear on my birthday for when Tre and I go out to dinner at Publican. I'm not the type to make a big deal about my birthday, but it's always exciting to wear a new dress for a 'special' occasion. Something about a new outfit makes you feel special, like it gives you an extra boost of confidence. I have been recently inspired by my favorite bloggers' finds at Nordstrom Rack, that I decided to scope it out since its been a while. I was surprised that I immediately found this dress. It was everything I was looking for without knowing what I was looking for! Now that's how you know you found a really good dress. Without a question, I snatched the dress off the rack, tried it on, paid it, and left. Oh by the way, I did not spend more than $39!! Score!

As I mentioned, Tre and I went to dinner at Publican Friday night, and it was amazing. It was definitely worth the hype. The service was phenomenal. Our waiter was constantly checking up on us, and the food was delicious! We ordered from raw oysters to brussels sprouts salad to yellow tail fish (it was Friday so we avoided meat). There was nothing to complain about. Also, their cocktails were great! They were very refreshing. Hope you all had a great weekend!

It's Spring!

Friday, March 21, 2014

Top: H&M (old), similar here // Scarf: H&M (old), similar here // Jeans: Madewell (old) similar here // Shoes: Nautralizer (old), similar here // Bag: BCBG (old) similar here // Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs (old), similar here // Ring: J. Crew, also love this // Necklace: Jewelmint (no longer available), also love this // Bracelets: Jewelmint, J. Crew (also love this),  Madewell, Lily and Laura

Yesterday was the first day of spring, and I couldn't be more happy! Chicago welcomed Spring with snow (ugh!). Although, the temperature was not bad at all. Eventually it was about mid 40s, and the snow stopped in the afternoon. As you can see in the pictures, majority of the snow melted away! YAY!

Today is even better! It will be sunny, high 50s, and I have the day off! I will definitely be pampering myself today. I'm in dying need of a mani and pedi. Seriously! Then I will enjoy the weather by taking a stroll around the neighborhood. It's been awhile since I've enjoyed walking outside. So I will take advantage of this opportunity!
Later tonight, Tre and I will be going out to dinner for my birthday. Tre has made reservations at one of the restaurants I have been wanting to try. No worries, I will fill you guys in later on where we went and my thoughts. I'm also excited  about wearing this new dress I bought by Laundry by Shelli Segal dress. I have a feeling this will be a great weekend! Do you guys have any plans for the weekend?

Dress: Forever 21 //  Necklace: Forever 21 // Shoes: Asos (on sale now!) // Clutch: Old Navy

Over the weekend, it was my Aunt's birthday party.  For those who don't know, my family loves to throw parties at banquet halls or ballrooms at hotels. It was definitely a good time and perfect excuse to dress up :). Unfortunately, I did not have a dress ready to wear for the night. So I quickly ran over to Forever 21 and found this dress. I was so excited because it gave  me a reason to wear floral print! Now I'm on a floral kick and want to wear anything and everything floral! Happy St. Patty's Day!

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

Every time I walk in Anthropologie, I am always amazed. I can easily spend hours in that store. The store is always well decorated that I practically gush over every little arrangement and item. It has such a positive feel that I can't help but be happy. So when I got my birthday discount in the mail, you have no idea how excited I was. Yes, I may have screamed. But wouldn't you if one of your favorite stores gave a discount just for you? Since I love everything they sell, I had to narrow down the list of stuff I want to get. So here's my Anthroplogie wishlist. I can't wait to use my discount!

Chilled Weekend

Monday, March 10, 2014

Sweater: Gap (on sale now!) // Boyfriend Jeans: Gap (on sale now!) // Shoes: Zara (old), similar here // Necklace: Jewelmint, H&M (old), similar here & here // Sungalsses: O by Oscar de la Renta (not available online), similar here //  Rings: H&M, also love this

It's been awhile since Tre and I had a very chilled weekend. Usually, we have plans one after another that we barely get to relax over the weekend. Welcome to adulthood. Don't get me wrong, we had plans but it wasn't rushed, and we felt like we could breathe. Friday, I did some shopping (some much needed retail therapy!) and if you're following me on Instagram, you would definitely know I did some damage :) Later that evening, Tre and I had some wine and pizza for dinner - always my fav go to dinner.

Saturday morning, Tre caught up with some of our friends while I caught up with a co-worker over brunch.  It's always satisfying at Kanela's Breakfast Club.  That night, we finally went to see the highly anticipated (at least for Tre it was) Lego movie. I must admit, it was better than I expected. In fact, the movie was hilarious!

Sunday, we barely did anything. Hung out with Tre's brother and his brother's girlfriend and went for a coffee run. The boys naturally hesitated, but I lured Tre by getting him Lemonade Passion Iced Tea (haha!).  Then we went browsing for dining tables. I can't wait until we find one we both like. I can only imagine how much fun it is to set up the table and have fun centerpieces. The rest of the day/evening we stayed in and watched TV. Hope you all had a great weekend!!

My Favorite SJP Moment

Friday, March 7, 2014

No doubt in my mind that my favorite Sarah Jessica Parker moments are when she plays Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. Her character is the epitome of fashion. Her outfits were constantly fashion forward, full of life, and colorful. Hello, opening credits twirling in her tulle skirt. Tulle skirts are trending now. Oh and she's hilarious! Her quotes about shopping, friendships, and relationships couldn't be more true. What's not to love about her witty and cute character! Did I also mention I love her SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker collection that launched in Nordstrom! One of the shoes from her collection is called Carrie. Couldn't be more Sex and the City than that. I am obsessed with everything in her collection.  So here is a round up of my top favorite pieces. What are your favorites?

P.S. Sarah Jessica Parker is making an appearance today at Chicago's Nordstrom!! I'm definitely going to rush over there after work!

Birthday Discount Vol 1: Loft

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

It's March! Which means it is my birthday month!! Not only do you get to feel special on your birthday, but retail stores want to make sure you're special by giving birthday discounts. For all of us shoppers, this is heaven! You get a discount that no one gets for that month (unless someone has the same birthday month, of course). First day of March, I already had discounts sent to me! Naturally, I opened my Mac and started browsing. So every Wednesday leading up to my birthday (March 21) I will have a wish list of items from retail stores that gave me a birthday discount. This first volume is from Loft.

Shaggy

Monday, March 3, 2014

Sweater: Forever 21 (on sale now!) // Pants: J. Crew (on sale now!) // Shoes: Kensie (no longer available), similar here //  Bag: Rachel Roy (old), similar here // Bracelets: Jewelmint and Lily & Laura // Necklace: Dress and Dwell, also love this // Rings: littlethingsplanet, also love this // Drink: Starbucks - Soy Latte :)

So I tried again to wear 'spring-like' colors in the cold (my last post, I tried to play up floral by wearing a floral sweater). I don't mean to complain again, but I miss temperatures above 40 degrees! Yes, 40 degrees is all I'm asking. A lot of the pastel colors are made for warmer weather. So when I decided to wear these pastel purple pants, I knew I would need a top to keep me warm. Then this shaggy sweater caught my eye at the Forever 21 sale section. I love how soft this sweater is and it has specs of pastel colors. Oh and importantly, it kept me warm(er)! Although not gonna lie, I was shivering. After I got my Starbucks (yup, Starbucks is especially necessary for Monday mornings), I made Tre quickly take snapshots before getting into the car. Longest 5 minutes of my life, brrr! Hope you all are enjoying your Monday!
