Playing with Stripes

Shirt: J. Crew (old), similar here and here (and on sale!!) //  Skirt: Forever 21 (old), similar here (and on sale!!) // Shoes: Converse // Bag: H&M, also love this // Necklace: Madewell (old), similar here // Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs (old), similar here // Rings: Madewell (old) - similar here , H&M -also love this
Just like how matching pieces are trending right now i.e. denim on denim, white on white, same 'pattern' on same 'pattern', I decided to play with my wardrobe without going too crazy. I love to wear stripes. Everytime I see a striped top, shirt, dress, skirt, my eyes gravitates to it, and I end up making the purchase. So when I went through my wardrobe to create matching pieces, naturally I went for the stripes. I figured since the top is Chambray, I can't go wrong... right? I feel like Chambray goes with everything! Plus, I used different fitting to make this look work (crossing fingers it looks okay...). I used a bodycon skirt with a loose shirt. On a bad note, since the bodycon skirt is so form fitting, you can see the seams of the tucked in shirt through the skirt. I guess next time, I'll try to find a tad bit looser skirt. Have you guys tried to create your own matching pieces? How'd it turn out?!

Date Night

Dress: Tobi, also love this // Shoes: Fashion Fuse via Hautelook, similar here // Clutch: Bought at Vintage Bazaar, similar here // Necklace: Jewelmint - also love this, Madewell // Ring: Madewell (old), similar here // Earrings: gift from my mom, similar here
Tre and I have been so busy lately that we set aside this weekend for a date night.  Plus we wanted an excuse to celebrate that our wedding is 11 months away :) We didn't go anywhere fancy, just a restaurant kitty corner from our home. The weather was just too perfect that outdoor seating was a must! I took a photo of our awesome seating via Instagram, check it out here.

I actually had this dress for awhile now. I wore this dress during Valentine's Day just styled differently (had tights & ankle boots due to the harsh winter on Vday!). I wanted to give this dress a casual and summery look. So I styled it with neutral accessories. The mid-heel sandals kept the whole look casual. I couldn't decided which necklace to wear, so I decided to layer. Layered necklaces have been my obsession lately! It adds a touch of edginess to the outfit.

Scallop Shorts

Top: J. Crew Factory // Shorts: Asos // Shoes: Madden Girl // Hat: D&Y // Bag: bought at a thrift store, similar here (and on sale at Nordstrom Anniversary Sale too!) // Bracelets: Lily & Laura , J. Crew Factory // Necklace: Dress and Dwell (old), similar here
I was immediately drawn to the scallop edging of these shorts! Without hesitation, I quickly added it to my Asos cart.  I especially love how the shorts all come in soft colors. In case you haven't noticed, lately I've been obsessing over soft colors. I was drawn to the mint color. Asos always gets me every time! I usually can't stand when I have to scroll through several pages when online shopping. However, I enjoyed scrolling through Asos. They have so many good items to offer!

Sunday Brunch

Shirt: Forever 21 // Shorts: Loft , also love this// Shoes: Fashion Focus via Hautelook, similar here // Bag: Lucky Brand (not available online), similar here // Bracelets: Lily & Laura, Jewelmint but also love this // Earrings: Kate Spade // Necklace: Jewelmint - also love this, Dress & Dwell - love this too

On Sunday, we went out for brunch to celebrate Tre's Mom's birthday! Going out to brunch is one of my favorite things to do during the weekend. Nothing is better than devouring tasty breakfast food on a Sunday morning at Orange in their Lincoln Park location. So happy that they re-opened. If you haven't been there, I suggest you go next weekend! Their food is so good! They're known for their 'frushi' (fruits wrapped in sweet rice so it looks like sushi!) and their freshly squeezed juice! I was not in the mood to 'dress up' for brunch, but I did want to look well put together.  So I decided these Loft pinstripe shorts would be perfect for brunch. I recently bought it on sale a few weeks ago when Loft had everything in their store 40% off. I couldn't resist the pinstripe pattern! Plus, the bow adds a subtle polished look to the outfit!

I seriously am obsessed with wearing rompers this summer! They're just too easy to wear! They have the look and feel of a dress, but not as restricted haha! I can be free and not worry about exposing too much ;). Not gonna lie, you will definitely see me more in rompers. Do you guys have a favorite look this summer?

Feeling Casual

Shirt: Old Navy // Shorts: Forever 21 (old), similar here // Shoes: Converse // Bag: H&M, also love this // Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs (old), similar here // Bracelets: Jewelmint, J. Crew Factory // Belt: Gap (old), similar here & here // Necklace: Madewell (old), but love this // Sunglasses: unknown, but similar here, here, & here
One of my favorite things to wear is a white oxford shirt. They're so comfortable, light, and easy to style. The fact that it is white means I can play it up with any accessories, patterns, or colors. Usually, I wear my white oxford shirt with a statement necklace, a pair of skinny jeans, and pointed toe flats for work. Over the weekend, I was feeling casual. I knew I wanted to be comfortable since Tre and I would be walking around the city a lot, but I did not want to look like a slob haha. So I decided to wear this shirt with denim shorts and converse and played it up with a leopard print belt. I must admit, this whole look is now my favorite way to wear the oxford shirt.

Black + Chambray

Top: Madewell // Skirt: Pins and Needles via Urban Outfitters (old), similar here // Shoes: Michael Antonio (no longer available), similar here and here // Necklace: Jewelmint // Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs (old), similar here // Bracelets: Madewell, Jewelmint

Last week, Tre's family came to visit to celebrate his grandma's birthday. It was so nice to see everyone and spend time with them. We basically did everything touristy like going on the Architectural Tour to Magnificent Mile to the John Hancock. I actually don't mind doing touristy stuff. It gives me an excuse to do all the fun things the city has to offer since I never have the courage to do it because I'm from Chicago (haha!).

On the first night they were here, we all went out to dinner to Paris Club. I had a hard time deciding what to wear at first. I knew I wanted to wear something comfortable, but still look dressed up without looking overly done. Then it finally clicked. Why not wear Chambray! Chambray can easily be dressed up (with the right accessories) or dressed down. It was definitely hot out so I went with the sleeveless Chambray shirt. To dress up the Chambray, I decided to pair it with a black skirt. I figured wearing black can dress up any look. When I saw the outfit all put together, I knew it was perfect for dinner. It's laid back, but still dressed up.

Flounce Romper

Romper: Forever 21 (not available online), similar here, here, here, and here // Bracelet: Jewelmint, also love this //  Ring: Madewell (old), similar here //  Shoes: Me too (old), similar here

It's been awhile since I've been out. So when my best friend asked me last week if I was interested in going out, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. I had a rough week so a really good cocktail was needed. I wanted to wear something very summery and fun. Nothing is more summery and fun than this flounce romper. I love how the color is vibrant but not too loud, and the flounce gives it a flirty touch. I love wearing rompers. I'm definitely going to take advantage of wearing them before summer ends!
