Flowers for Dreams

(a week later- still looking good!)

Some may know this, but I have an obsession with flowers. Anything floral, my eyes gravitate towards it. Every week, I buy fresh flowers for our home. It's also my attempt to 'girlify' our home to counteract the sports memorabilia ;).

I've never had flowers delivered to me.  Then I came across Flowers for Dreams. They're a Chicago-based floral company that strongly believes that the up charge of traditional florists is unnecessary. So they threw away the traditional price, delivery charge, service fees, and add-on fees to create a simple charge of $35 per bouquet - no delivery charge. Seriously, if I was a floral company I'd be Flowers for Dreams. I believe in helping the community, eco-friendly, no waste, budget-friendly, and utilizing local flowers. Well, that's exactly what Flowers for Dreams believes in as well. You can read more about their efforts here.

If you noticed on Instagram, one Friday afternoon Flowers for Dreams sent me a lovely bouquet. It was waiting for me at my doorstep, and I was seriously amazed at how well-crafted the bouquet was! The arrangement was gorgeous and the burlap wrap was a nice touch! I received the Posh & Pink bouquet. This bouquet used an assortment of pink-themed flowers that are locally grown and seasonally available. Basically, they can create a beautiful arrangement by making the most out of what is available. Pink is not your color? See other options here in their 'Gifts' page.

Aside from their affordable price, Flowers for Dreams has been generous enough to offer you an additional 20% off your bouquet if you live in the Chicagoland area! Enter discount code 'RD' at the checkout for any of their 'Gifts' bouquets. Seriously, take advantage of it! Gorgeous flowers delivered straight to your door in a timely manner!

Blush + Black

Top: Loft (no longer available), similar Loft top here & here // Pants: Lou & Grey from Loft //  Clutch: Essex LA, also love this // Shoes: Nine West // Necklace: Jewelmint, also love this // Rings: Littlethingsplanet, also love this // Bracelet: Vickyhandmade (seller no longer available), similar here

I'm really loving Loft's collaboration with Lou & Grey.  Everything in that collection has a laid back, 'cool', and chic look. So when I came across these Pintucked Pants, I fell in love. The fabric feels soft and smooth like butter and very lightweight. Plus it came in blush, my favorite color! The Essex LA Louie Clutch pulls the look together. The Italian leather fabric feels just as soft and smooth as the pants!

Transitional Pieces: Fall

Fall Transitional Piece

1.  CHRLDR Tres Bien Shirt // 2. BB Dakota Bailey Jacket (on sale now!!)  // 3. BB Dakota Kaden Jacket // 4. Eleven Paris Dress // 5. Rag & Bone Hat // 6. AG Adriano Goldschmeid Legging Jeans // 7. J Brand Mid Rise Skinny Jeans // 8. Rebecca Minkoff Tote // 9.  Vic Italy Booties (on sale now!!) // 10. Charles Philip Sneakers

I can't believe it's already the last week of August! I swear time flies faster every year. Since I'm not ready to let go of summer, finding the right pieces to transition into fall is the key. The temperatures are gradually dropping so layering and buying pieces that can easily be worn in so many different ways is a must.  For instance, the Eleven Paris Dress can be paired with the Vic Italy booties. When it cools down, wear the BB Jacket over it. If you want a more casual look replace the booties with these metallic sneakers. Versatility is the key!

If you're heading back to school, check out the latest Back to School fashion. Check it out here. My favorite is the Wonderland Colony Sunglasses, Madewell Outbound Jacket, and Citizens of Humanity Avedon Skinny Jeans. So chic for campus!

Flutter Sleeves

Friday, August 22, 2014

Top: J. Crew (on sale now!!) //  Shorts: Silver Jeans Co (on sale now!!) // Sandals: Dirty Laundry (on sale now!!) // Necklace: Dress & Dwell, also love this // Bracelet: Dress and Dwell, also love this //  Ring: Madewell (old), similar here

Recently, I've been wanting to dress very casual and wear laid back clothes. Since Tre and I's schedule has been hectic i.e. working late, working on side projects, wedding planning, corporate event planning, I just feel so burned out. So I just want to be comfortable whenever I can breathe for a minute. Last weekend, I wanted to dress casual without looking like a bum. So this flutter top was the perfect top to wear. It's loose and breathable, but the flutter sleeves give the illusion that I somewhat 'tried' to dress up. If you currently follow me on Instagram, you already know that I wore this attire to the Great American Lobster Fest. It was such a great call to head there! Perfect view for the Air & Water Show, plus I ate lots of lobster! Visual proof here.

Tribal + Eyelet

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

Top: Kmart, also love this // Shorts: Akira (old), similar here // Sandals: Old Navy (old), similar here (also at Old Navy and on sale!!) // Bag: bought via Thrift Store, similar here // Rings: H&M, also love this // Bracelet: Lily & Laura, bought via Vintage Bazaar - similar here

So I had one of those days when I just didn't know what to wear. No wait, I take that back. I did have something to wear. I was going to pair this crop top (can you believe this was from Kmart!) with a leather skirt like this one. Unfortunately, that skirt didn't look right on me that day.  So I was scrambling through my closet for something until I came across these Akira shorts. I'm not too crazy about the whole look but I do like how the colors on the crop top tie into the citron shorts.

Didn't Make it

Sheinside Crop Top // JOA Skirt // Target flats (old), similar here // Lily & Laura Bracelet // H&M rings, also love these Luv AJ ring set

This JOA skirt is the skirt that did not make it to our engagement photos (It's also less than $30!!). The sun was setting and we didn't have enough time for a third outfit. I was slightly bummed. So when I had the opportunity to wear it over the weekend, I was ecstatic! Overall, I love the color combo. The navy blue pairs so well with the neon pink. It almost has a gingham look. Since the skirt sits slightly above the hips, I couldn't resist pairing it with a crop top. I definitely kept this look casual by pairing it with flats. However, I can easily dress it up by wearing these Steven Rykie Sandals or Coclico Wedges. Have you guys planned an outfit, but somehow did not end up wearing it?

Pleated Maxi Skirt

Wednesday, August 13, 2014

Top: Silver Jeans Co (no longer available online), similar here & here  // Skirt: Sheinside // Sandals: Tommy Hilfiger (old), similar here //  Necklace: Jewelmint - also love this, Dress and Dwell (old), similar here // Bracelet: Lily & Laura, Saks Fifth Avenue (old) - similar here, Vintage Bazaar - similar here

I've always been a fan of maxi dresses. So when the maxi skirts became a trend, I fell in love. However, last year I just wasn't a fan of how they looked on me. I was so upset because so many girls looked so cute wearing them.  I'm not very tall, so it looked as if it dragged. However, I figured I was probably disappointed last year because I didn't find the right fit. This year, I decided to give maxi skirts another shot. So all summer I looked and only recently had some luck at Sheinside. Not gonna lie, I was a little hesitant because the skirt came in one size. When it came in the mail, I fell in love! The color was stunning. I love the soft pink look. The fabric felt soft and I love how light and airy it is. Definitely won't overheat in the summer! I couldn't resist but pair the maxi skirt with a striped crop like this one.

The White Button Shirt

Monday, August 11, 2014

White shirts

1. Chalk Shirt  // 2. Hatch Shirt// 3. Theory Blouse // 4. Current Elliott Shirt // 5. Bella Dahl Shirt

I have an obsession with white button down shirts. In my opinion, you can never own too many white shirts. I think they're versatile and classic. They can easily be worn to the office, a night out, or a casual day. I can wear the Chalk Shirt with Vince Trouser Pants, Steven Alicia Pumps, and accessorize it with a Kenneth Jay Lane layered necklace for when I have a big meeting with a client. During a casual day in the office, I'd wear the Theory blouse and pair it with True Religion dark wash skinnies and a Phillip Lim d'orsay flats. Not only are white button shirts versatile from professional to casual, but they can be worn in any season. For a summer look, I'd wear the Bella Dahl shirt with a pair of Rag & Bone boyfriend shorts and Birkenstock sandals for a stroll around the city. During the winter, any of these white shirts would look great with Inhabit sweater and over the knee Sam Edelman boots. Since I consider white button shirts a classic, they're one of the items that I am okay splurging on. With classics, they will last and will never go out of style.  It is essential to find the perfect one or five ;)

Movies in the Park

Thursday, August 7, 2014

Hat: Target (not available online), similar here //  Shirt: J. Crew  (old), similar here // Shorts: Silver Jeans Co (on sale nows!!)  // Shoes: c/o Bearpaw (no longer available), similar here // Bag: BCBG (old), similar here // Bracelets: Lily & Laura, J. Crew Factory (on sale now!!), and bought via Vintage Bazaar - similar here //  Necklace: Jewelmint, also love this
Over the weekend, Tre and I headed to Jonquil Park for Movies in the Park. If you're not familiar with this, every summer the Chicago Park District will set up  large projectors in all the parks in Chicago. Each park plays a different movie. So we always check the schedule to see if there's any movie we would like to see. This past weekend, they played Mr. Peabody and Sherman. It's wasn't a movie we were dying to see, but we were glad we saw it. It was cute, witty, and funny!

If you follow me via Instagram, you would have noticed that Tre and I had a picnic at Jonquil park while we waited and watched the movie. Seriously, Movies in the Park is one of my favorite things to do during the summer. Speaking of favorites, this Silver Jeans shorts are one of my favorite shorts. I love how they fit. They don't hug the thighs, but they're not baggy either. Also, the lace appliqué on the sides are a nice touch! Not gonna lie, that's exactly what drew me into the shorts at first. Plus, it's now on sale!
