HAPPY HALLOWEEN Everyone!! In the spirit of Halloween, I thought I'd share when Tre and I went to the pumpkin patch a couple weeks ago. Pumpkin patching is definitely one of my favorite things to do in the Fall. I love picking out the perfect pumpkins and picking out an assortment of squashes with a huge helping of apple cider & pumpkin spice donuts. No joke, it's not Fall until I head to the pumpkin farm (before Halloween). What are your favorite things to do during Fall?

I've been Oo-ing and Ah-ing at the latest trend, two piece matching sets. Every time I see someone rock that look, I envy them. I've struggled finding the right two piece matching set for a couple of reasons. One, I find one that I really love but it's out of my price range. Two, I find one that is affordable but it just doesn't fit my style. Then I came across Choies 'Two-piece Suits' section on their site. Oh my gosh, my wishes came true. There were so many great options at such great prices! It's like my wishes were finally answered! Then came the hard part (first world problems, right?), how do I decide which one to go with? I did agonize a bit, but finally narrowed it down. Since this is my first two-piece suit, I want to make the most of it - meaning, I want to make sure this set is something that is versatile and will not fade the next season. Then I came across this set. I know it's not exactly matchy match, but I couldn't resist the vibrant orchid color and how well it paired with a striped cropped top. Plus, I can easily wear each piece individually to create a whole new outfit. So yes, I did play it safe but at least I know I can be versatile with it. Maybe next time I will get a true matching two piece set :)

As usual, I'm always coveting something at Shopbop. Well this time, I'm looking for more transitional pieces that can be worn in the Fall and Winter. I want something cozy and knitted so it can be worn without a coat during Fall and can be an extra layer of warmth during the winter such as the Tory Burch and UNIF sweater. Since the holidays are getting closer, finding the perfect holiday outfit is a must (while they're still in stock) like the UNIF dress paired with the Steven over the knee boots. Have you guys started looking into Fall/Winter clothes?

My Mad Style

Something about oversized, knitted cardigans screams Fall. Mad Style carries a wide range of knitted cardigans! I've collaborated with Peggy from Hallways Are My Runways and Samantha from Gold Coast Girl to showcase our favorite fall knits and handbags. Each one has subtle details to give an edgier look or shall I say 'mad style' (no pun intended haha). My cardigan has faux leather piping along the edge and shoulder and I layered it with a white button down, high-low blouse.

Awesome news, you all can get 30% off by entering the promo code MAD4STYLE at checkout. Such a great deal!

Usually, I'm dressed up or dressy casual here, never just casual. Although lately, I just want to be comfortable and lounge. The craziness of life has taken over me such that I'm always exhausted. I rarely get to sleep in and relax. So here's me not dressed up. I did try a little by adding some mixed prints, but otherwise this is my attempt to make hoodies look chic haha. These Bearpaw slip-ons are extremely cozy. The interior has a wool blend lining to keep me feeling snug and warm. Totally goes with my loungey look. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Wedding Wednesdays: Romantic Destination - Italy

First of all, I want to apologize for not posting anything for the Wedding Wednesdays series for a month! As mentioned in the first WW post, this series will occur if time permits. Due to several post commitments, the series was held back :(.  Unfortunately, this may happen again but I will try to do my best to keep this series going!

I was challenged by Lover.ly to create a chic wedding based on a romantic wedding destination. They gave me 3 destinations to choose from, and I chose Italy. Something about Italy reminds me of being fashion forward with elegance. The scenery in Italy is beautiful and charming. Hence, that is how I came up with this mood board for a romantic wedding destination. The blush color gives it a whimsical and vintage look like the landscape and architecture of the country. This Carol Hannah wedding dress creates the same feel. The asymmetrical cut and ruffled hem goes along with Italy's fashion forward culture. What's your idea of a romantic wedding destination?

P.S. If you're a bride to be, Lover.ly is your go to site. It's basically a one stop shop for all things wedding (i.e. wedding planning, dress shopping, accessories, shoes, bridesmaid dresses, etc.) It's like a database on anything wedding gathered from different sites on the Internet!

Blue Floral Lace

Dress: Sheinside (less than $30!)
Shoes: JustFab
Clutch: Anne Klein (old), similar here
Bracelets: c/o Mad Style - also love this (less than $3)
Bangle: Jewelmint - also love this (less than $10)

Wedding season has officially come to an end for us.  Tre and I attended our last wedding of the year. Two weeks ago, we celebrated the marriage of a couple of our good friends. It was a beautiful wedding and the day was gorgeous! Could not have asked for better weather in October. We definitely had a lot of fun :)

When I was searching for a dress for this occasion, I knew I wanted to tie in fall-like colors without losing the brightness and cheeriness of a wonderful day. I also wanted the dress to be weather appropriate. October is always a toss up in Chicago - sometimes it's cold, sometimes it's hot. So when I came across this Sheinside dress, I knew right away it was perfect. The dress has sleeves that can warm up my shoulders if I'm chilly, but the lace fabric allows my arms to breath in case it is hot. The cobalt blue can easily transition into fall but still bold and bright and makes a statement without much accessorizing. Of course, I couldn't help but pair the dress with fuchsia heels. Blue & fuchsia are such a great combo!

Midi Skirts

Midi Skirts

1. Nicholas Thermo Floral Skirt
2. PARTYSKIRTS by Skot Jenny's Party Skirt
3. Nicholas Ultracheck Flared Skirt
4. Nicholas Digital Check Silk Pleat Skirt
5. JOA Full Faux Leather Midi Skirt
6. Tibi Full Pleated Skirt

As the temperature drops, sometimes it can be difficult to dress up or add bold colors to your wardrobe. Especially if all you want to do is wear that chunky knit sweater with leggings and get cozy with your Anthroplogie coffee mug and watch some Sex & the City re-runs on E!. Not gonna lie, it's not even that cold in Chicago and I'm already thinking about living in this JOA plaid sweatshirt. So cozy! With that said, it can be difficult to want to dress up with less effort. That's when midi skirts come into play! The mid-length is appropriate to wear in cooler temperatures without losing style. They're chic, feminine, and fun. The fullness of the skirt easily dresses up a top. Heck, you can even wear a crop top without exposing much! The best part is the variety of colors, textures, and prints. Midi skirts are most definitely on the top of my list of favorite trends. Do you guys have a favorite midi skirt?

Distressed

Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs (old), similar here
Rings: H&M (the whole set is $3!), also love this
Bag: bought via thrift store, similar here

When I saw this Blue Labels Boutique top, I fell in love. I love the black and white abstract prints with black solid sleeves for contrast. My immediate reaction was to pair these with black skinny distressed jeans. I was going for an urban chic look. My eyes were drawn to the J Brand distressed jeans. It has the perfect amount of distressed and fits great! I just had to have it until I realized they were out of my budget for this month. Why can't I be miraculously rich when I find something great?! So I started crunching numbers trying to see if I can somehow make it work. Nope, no luck. I looked and looked, I mean I seriously looked to see if anything could compare. Then I saw these Jolt Jeans. They were my first pair of black denim. I bought them at Marshalls for $20ish dollars. Throughout the years, I started upgrading my black denim and they slowly started moving in the very back crevice of my closet. I've thought about donating them but never had the guts to do it. They just fit me so well! I kept telling myself they will be my emergency jeans. Well let me tell you, these emergency jeans came in handy! Since I was considering giving them away, I thought 'why not make my own distressed jeans?'. I watched several YouTube tutorials until I had the courage to slice them up. They're not perfectly distressed like J Brand, but they're somewhat comparable...right?! Well, just lie to me and say yes :)

Lately I've been obsessing over tops with embellished collars. So my immediate reaction when I came across this Rhyme top was to get a detachable jeweled collar. Of course my hunt to get a detachable collar failed. Most of the detachable collars I came across did not have the look I was going for.  So I thought, why not pair it with a statement necklace? I looked at all my necklaces and was not feeling inspired. I just kept thinking to myself "Man, I really want something embellished!". Then tucked away in the corner of my closet was this Madewell blouse I bought last winter. I rarely wore this top. Don't ask me why because I actually really love this top! Then it hit me. Why not layer the Rhyme top with the Madewell top. The collar of the Madewell top has the perfect amount of embellishment and the silk fabric makes it easy to layer. I pretty much hit two birds with one stone because I basically put together my two favorite fashion trends: layers and embellished collars.
