I actually wore this outfit a couple weeks ago and posted it on Instagram. I got a lot of questions on where I got my look (so sorry I didn't add links on Insta!). So I decided to do an outfit post so you can get all the details. My hair was a little different. It was in a bun then. Of course, I couldn't re-create the bun when I took these photos, ugh. But anyways onto the outfit, I actually just randomly put stuff together because I was COLD! Like super cold! I pretty much piled on everything. I definitely grabbed the sweater because it is warm and chunky, but felt I needed another fitted layer underneath. That's when the turtleneck came into play. Since I was practically wearing 2 tops, I decided why not just add a scarf to top it off. By the way this scarf is ridiculously cheap! It definitely kept me cozy all day in the office. Although I will admit I did not commute in these booties. I actually wore these snow boots on the way to work and changed them as soon as I got there. No way I want to damage these booties!

I always feel like Valentine's Day just sneaks up on you. We are already 2 weeks away from it! I always find myself scrambling for a gift, and let's admit it ladies our significant others are probably scrambling at the very last minute for a gift as well hehe. One thing most women can agree on is that we all would like a piece of jewelry. The style and type may be different, but there's always a jewelry that fits someone's personality. Anjolee is a jewelry manufacturer and retail that offers the ability to customize any jewelry design. So if there's a specific metal type, gemstone, diamond, and size you have in mind, Anjolee can definitely assist with that! I'm the queen of taking advantage of customization.  For instance, Anjolee is a collection of Birthstone Bracelet. How cute is that? A bracelet that commemorates you! The thought of owning something that represents your individuality just makes it special and unique. It's also something you know will last for awhile and can be handed down in the family. Above are some of my favorite pieces from Anjolee's website. I'm loving heart shaped jewelry pieces and the cobalt blue gemstones. Do you guys have any favorites from their site?

One Year

Wow, I can't believe it has been a year of blogging! To be honest, I did not think I could make it a year. A lot has been going on in my personal life that trying to keep a consistent schedule was very difficult. But for once, I had a place where I could showcase my creative outlet and do something for me. For that it kept me motivated! This little blog has given me opportunities I never thought I could be a part of or achieve. However, RD's Obsessions would not be what it is now if it wasn't for you! Thank you so much for following along. Your comments, likes, and follows seriously make my day and it is the reason why it surpassed my expectations of what I could achieve here.

I also want to give a special thanks to my fiancé, Tre. This blog for sure would not have existed if it wasn't for him. He was the one that mentioned I should start a blog (and I kept shaking my head 'no' haha) and pushed me to go for it (I guess he was right, I did want to be a blogger and just needed that nudge haha). He supported me throughout this journey and continued to motivate me. He was just as excited as I was with my first brand collaboration or first press feature/mentions. Every success this blog has had, he shared the joy with me as if it was his own. And of course, this blog would not have existed without any photos. Tre took most of these photos and I'm so grateful he takes time out of his busy work schedule to take them. So convenient to have a photographer on hand anytime ;). I am one lucky girl and can't wait to marry him in 5 months!!

This blog is also special to me because it is 100% genuine me. For those who know me very well, they know I don't open up much. There's only a select few around whom I can comfortably be me. I had a little anxiety when starting this blog because it meant I had to open up a little bit about myself to strangers! Looking back at my early posts, I definitely held back. I can tell by how I styled my outfits. I played it safe.  I was nervous about what others may think. Those 'safe' outfits are now my least favorite outfits. They just didn't seem me. The more I felt comfortable dressing how I wanted to dress, the better response I got from my blog. That gave me the confidence to be myself.

To sum it up, RD's Obsessions was more than just a display of my outfits. It helped me grow as a person. I was able to visualize my growth and appreciate who I am. A year ago, you would never catch me taking a selfie. I would cringe when I see photos of myself. I now have more confidence. It  helped me realize I had all this creativity bottled up in me like photography, web design, product designing, and calligraphy. Now, I'm seeking more (creative) ventures in my life.

Thank you all again for following along! I truly appreciate the support you have for this space right here and hope you continue to follow :)

I'll Keep it Cropped

Sweater: Sheinside
Skirt: Forever 21
Sunglasses: Madewell (old), similar here
Tights: Target
Shoes: Rebels (old), similar here

Instead of complaining that this sweater was not as oversized as I originally thought, I decided to embrace its crop top fit. I couldn't resist styling it in my favorite way to wear crop tops.. with a skirt! This outfit made me realize how much I actually like this sweater as a crop top. The boxy fit balances well with the fit & flair of this skirt. If anything, it enhances the flare of the skirt. Thank goodness this purchase worked out! Returning online purchases can be a hassle sometimes!

9. Nike Free Bionic Cross Training Shoes
10. Zella Socks
11. Neoprene Dumbbell

Not sure if you know this, but I'm really big into fitness/working out. It's something that I have enjoyed for a long time. I really think it all started in cheerleading (yes, you heard me right). And no it's not the cheerleading that screams and yells and have spirit fingers. Actually, our coach would punish us with additional conditioning workouts if we ever acted that way (i.e. do 50 pushups in perfect form, ughhh). To sum it up, I do consider cheerleading a sport (I'll leave at that because I can go on and on about why it's a sport).

With the new year, I've noticed the most popular goal is to be fit. So I thought I'd share some of my favorite fitness gear, outfits, and fitness advice. The most important is your shoes. If you plan on doing a little bit of running and cross training (i.e. weights, indoor workouts), I strongly believe it is very important to wear 2 different shoes: one specifically made for running, and the other for cross training. If you're new to running, I recommend checking out your local running store and asking for a shoe consultation. Based on how you run, they assist in the type of shoes you should be wearing. I've always ran in Mizunos. I love how light and airy they are that it makes it easy to sprint. For cross training, I tend to go with minimalist shoes. They help build stronger ankles (I tend to randomly roll my ankle). Don't forget about socks. I really like the Zella socks because they have the right amount of cushion to support my feet and moisture wicking.

In order to see results, you should constantly be changing the type of workouts. It creates muscle confusion and gets your muscles constantly active (aka burning fat). If you can't access a gym, I love Shaun T's Insanity workout. It's High Intensity Interval Workout (HIIT) in 40 minutes and no equipment required. If you're really short on time, he also created a HIIT workout for 25 minutes called T25. Both workouts will definitely give you a sweat and no doubt you will see results.

As you can see, I can go on and on about fitness and working out. However, I just wanted to highlight the most important things. But if you want to know more, feel free to email me. I don't mind at all! Hope you guys find this helpful.

So last weekend, Chicago got a heat wave. It was a whopping 40 degrees! Seriously, it felt gorgeous out. How sad is that haha! But of course, it wouldn't have been Chicago if there was no wind. Tre and I had difficulties trying to take these photos. Either my hair was all over the place or he could not get the camera in focus because of the wind. It was frustrating at the time, but looking back we were laughing at how goofy we must have looked. I was probably swatting my hair to get it out of my face and Tre trying to take photos. The things we do for blogging right?!

Mixed Dots

Bag: Kate Spade Saturday (sold out), similar here

I scored this bag during Black Friday and it was one of the best purchases I've made. Seriously, it was a steal! Plus, I'm obsessed with the gold polka dot print on the bag! It's fun and trendy yet it still looks classy and chic. It's perfect for any occasion. Of course, I couldn't help but pair it with a polka dot shirt. The more dots, the better... right? So it is not polka dot overload, I decided to pair it with neutral colors- black and camel. Anything can go with black and camel.

Winter Must-Haves

Winter Must-Haves

1. DKNY Coat (on sale for less than $150!)
2. Sorel Boots
3. Fox River Heavy Duty Socks
4. Asos Chunky Infinity Scarf
5. J. Crew Factory Tech Gloves (on sale now!)
6. J. Crew Glittens (extra 40% off with code SHOPNOW)
7. Gap Hat (on sale now!)
8. J. Crew Factory Earmuffs (on sale now!)

If you live where you experience all four seasons, then you know it is essential to be prepared for the brutally cold winter months. Here in Chicago, winters are mean. Not only is the highest temperature of the day 0 degrees, but then you have to battle with the wind chill and it makes it -20 degrees. Oh and the wind only runs in one direction - in your face!  I came up with a winter must-have and what I actually wear daily (Oh Spring, where are you?!). A long parka is a must with a faux fur hood. That faux fur will save you from the wind! Snow boots lined with heavy duty socks are a need so it can protect your feet from snow, slush, and freezing rain. I actually layer my glittens with tech gloves because I don't want to expose my hands to the cold air when I have to reach for my phone - so proud of myself for this idea! And of course you have to protect your ears. If my hair has to be in good conditions (eh, never is), I wear the earmuffs. But if I don't care about having hat hair, definitely go for the pompom hat. I definitely can't forget about a chunky knit scarf. Those are life savers and I actually never take it off. How do you guys dress for winter?

Tribal Poncho

Top: Dress & Dwell, also love this
Jeans: Jolt (old), similar here
Shoes: Shoemint, also love this
Necklace: Jewelmint (old), similar here
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs (old), similar here
A couple months ago, I scored this poncho at Dress & Dwell. I was immediately drawn to the tribal print. It kinda reminds me of an Aztec pattern. I love Aztec patterns! Something about them makes me feel cozy - don't know why. Obviously, I snatched this off the rack. I was even more impressed that it is a poncho! Even though the sleeves were not fully covered, it kept me warm. The fabric is made of a thick cotton textile which is perfect for winter. I wish more sweaters were made this way! Did any of you guys find a good buy recently?
