Not sure if you know this, but I'm really big into fitness/working out. It's something that I have enjoyed for a long time. I really think it all started in cheerleading (yes, you heard me right). And no it's not the cheerleading that screams and yells and have spirit fingers. Actually, our coach would punish us with additional conditioning workouts if we ever acted that way (i.e. do 50 pushups in perfect form, ughhh). To sum it up, I do consider cheerleading a sport (I'll leave at that because I can go on and on about why it's a sport).

With the new year, I've noticed the most popular goal is to be fit. So I thought I'd share some of my favorite fitness gear, outfits, and fitness advice. The most important is your shoes. If you plan on doing a little bit of running and cross training (i.e. weights, indoor workouts), I strongly believe it is very important to wear 2 different shoes: one specifically made for running, and the other for cross training. If you're new to running, I recommend checking out your local running store and asking for a shoe consultation. Based on how you run, they assist in the type of shoes you should be wearing. I've always ran in Mizunos. I love how light and airy they are that it makes it easy to sprint. For cross training, I tend to go with minimalist shoes. They help build stronger ankles (I tend to randomly roll my ankle). Don't forget about socks. I really like the Zella socks because they have the right amount of cushion to support my feet and moisture wicking.

In order to see results, you should constantly be changing the type of workouts. It creates muscle confusion and gets your muscles constantly active (aka burning fat). If you can't access a gym, I love Shaun T's Insanity workout. It's High Intensity Interval Workout (HIIT) in 40 minutes and no equipment required. If you're really short on time, he also created a HIIT workout for 25 minutes called T25. Both workouts will definitely give you a sweat and no doubt you will see results.

As you can see, I can go on and on about fitness and working out. However, I just wanted to highlight the most important things. But if you want to know more, feel free to email me. I don't mind at all! Hope you guys find this helpful.

  6. New workout gear is a huge motivator for me.

I just bought new running shoes, because I tend to be very hard on mine and wear out the backs...but that could also mean I don't run properly.

Side note - I think it's really cool that you did cheerleading. My high school never had a team (nor did any in the area), so I just associated that with the movies. HAHA
