Instagram Lately

Friday, August 28, 2015

It's been awhile since I've done an Instagram round up. In addition to this blog, I like to document things I am doing daily with Instagram. This weekend Tre and I are going to Seattle for our mini moon and I am so excited!! Our schedules have been hectic lately that we rarely had time for each other. So this mini moon is extra special. Plus, we are only one month away until our actual honeymoon. Woohoo!

If you guys have any recommendations while we are in Seattle, please do share! I will for sure be documenting our trip via Instagram. Feel free to follow along and find out what we are up to. If you know any cool places around the location we are at, let us know!

Yesterday was crazy busy at work. Love my customized day planner from Love Letter Designs. Helps me schedule out my day!
Chicago has the best skyline. This view makes running more enjoyable along the lakefront.

Anthropologie gets me every time.

Tried my first Cafe Con Leche at Cafe Con Leche and it was delicious!

These pants! So glad I scored them on sale at Anthropologie. Plus, they're additional 30% off!

My new desk from Pottery Barn!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Blue and White

Dress: Rent the Runway
Shoes: Lulus, also love this
Bracelet: J. Crew Factory (under $17)
Clutch: bought at a vintage store, similar here

Photography by Joe Norberte

If you are following me on Instagram, then I'm sure this dress is very familiar. Over the weekend, I went to a friend's wedding in Kenosha, WI. It was tons of fun and I'm sure you could tell on Snapchat that there was a lot of dancing haha!

Lately, I've been really into blue and white combos. I'm sure you can tell from here, here, here, and here! Trust me, there will be more haha! So going into this wedding, I could not resist but search for a blue and white dress. As I mentioned here, Rent the Runway has been my go-to for special occasions. So it is no surprise that this blue crochet dress is from RTR. I love how the cobalt blue crochet has a lace effect against the white lining. This dress is classy but still has the 'sexy' feel to it. This dress has been my favorite so far!

Back to School

Back to School

re:named Belted Trench
Madewell Sleeveless Sweater
Paris Mon Amour Tee
Treasure&Bond Flared Jeans
Reversible Tote
J. Brand Distressed Jeans
Cargo Jacket
Sam Edelman booties
Panama Hat
Sole Society Pointed Toe Flats

It's late August and you know what that means.... Back to School. I hated this time of the year (ugh school), but I definitely loved back to school shopping. It makes going back to school slightly more exciting. I love all the new stuff that comes out. When I shop for back to school wardrobe, my mind immediately goes to Fall transitional pieces.

This time of year (especially in the Midwest) the temperatures can fluctuate. The Summer's heat may extend its stay or Fall may have an early visit. So I like to shop for items that can be worn both in summer and fall weather. All these pieces can easily be layered on or off. For instance, on a warmer day, you can wear the Paris Mon Amour tee with distressed shorts and if the temperature drops you can layer the tee with a cargo jacket and possibly swap out the distressed shorts with distressed jeans.

When I was in school, a high quality and roomy tote bag was key. I wanted a bag that could carry all my school stuff plus more but still look chic. A tote bag is not only classic and chic, it has the capacity to fit in school supplies and other essentials (i.e. lip balm, compact mirror, etc). I have this reversible tote bag and it is the best purchase I have ever made. Not only is it durable for a $48 bag and (very) spacious, but I love the reversible feature. It is like getting a two for one special! I own the pink/taupe combo. Now I have my eye on the cognac/aqua one!

Distressed Denim Shorts

Friday, August 21, 2015

Shirt: Loft (sold out), similar here
Shorts: Nordstrom (sold out), similar here and here
Sunglasses: Nordstrom
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs (old), similar here
Shoes: Loft (on sale!)
In case you haven't noticed, I pretty much have been wearing dresses all summer. However, if I'm not wearing a dress, you can definitely see me wearing these cuffed boyfriend denim shorts from SP Black. I practically live in them along with my Madewell slub tee or in Loft shirts like this one. Unfortunately, this exact wash I am wearing is sold out. However, Nordstrom still has the lighter wash in stock. I also found a very similar pair from Topshop.

Printed Dress

Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Dress: J. Crew Factory (under $50)
Sunglasses: Le Specs
Shoes: Chinese Laundry (under $40)
Watch: c/o MVMT ($10 off with code rdulay)
Clutch: Alfani (old),  similar here
I love prints. But when I was going through the dresses in my closet, most of them were solid colors. So when I came across this printed dress from J. Crew Factory, I knew I just had to have it. I love the geometric patterns with pastel colors. It's so fun and summery. The best part about this printed dress is its versatility. Because of the perfect above the knee length and cut, it is appropriate for work. This dress is a great way to add pops of color to your workwear wardrobe. To be honest, I wore this dress to work yesterday with gold ballet flats. Or I can see myself wearing this at a wedding or a casual date night look. I can make this dress more summery by wearing a fedora and d'Orsay sandals. The options are endless!

Striped Maxi

Monday, August 17, 2015

Dress: c/o Choies (under $20)
Hat: David & Young
Sandals: Old Navy (old), similar here
This weekend was really hot. While everyone was complaining about the heat, I was embracing it. It's already mid-August which means Summer may be over soon (although, I really do hope it will last a tad bit longer). To cool off from the high temps, I decided to wear this striped, backless maxi dress. I think this is one of my favorite dresses of the summer. I love the black and white stripes (such a classic pattern!), and it is so comfortable! Even though the silhouette is form-fitting, it surprisingly has a flow to it. Not sure if you can tell from the photos, when the wind blows, it flows just like a chiffon dress. I think it has to do with the side slit. The slit is high enough to feel very feminine but still modest. Hope you all have a great Monday!

Chambray Off-Shoulder

Friday, August 14, 2015

Dress: c/o Oasap (less than $25)
Sunglasses: Le Specs
Sandals: Loft (on sale for less than $15)
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs (old), similar here

The Art Institute of Chicago's South Garden is one of my favorite spots in the city. It kind of has that secret garden feel to it smacked in the middle of downtown Chicago. It is surrounded by beautiful floral arrangements and foliage. It is also a great spot to have a picnic, read a book, or have coffee on their bistro tables.

I knew wearing this chambray off-shoulder dress from Oasap was perfect for strolling around the garden. It is surprisingly a very light fabric and has a casual feel; and of course, I couldn't resist the off-shoulder feature! Can you tell I am totally taking advantage of Chicago's summer weather based on my outfits?! When Fall comes around, I definitely want to come back and show off all the pretty leaves :)
