Embracing It

I know I mentioned in Friday's post that I will announce something in Monday's post. I'm sure you all noticed I didn't have a post yesterday. I mentioned on Instagram that I wasn't feeling well. I was bound to get sick eventually and it got me this weekend. Of course, I had to stay indoors when it actually warmed up a bit in Chicago :/

Off the Shoulder Top: SheIn (only $11)
Skirt: Asos, also love this and this
Sandals: Macy's (currently $25, usually over $100)
Sunglasses: c/o Zenni Optical

So for my announcement, it is something I have been slowly creeping into the blog and on Instagram and basically going forward, you will see my new posts without my wig! It may not seem like a big deal, but it was something I had been contemplating to do for awhile. I'm now comfortable sharing it with everyone on the world wide web. I have embraced my short but growing hair in my personal life and I figured why not embrace it on the blog. There should not be a difference between how I see myself on the blog and in real life. Not going to lie, I will miss wearing my wig. It helped me so much during chemo. It gave me so much confidence in myself. Chemo has done some weird things to my appearance and wearing a wig that looked like my old hair helped me feel myself again.

Anyways, this outfit was taken when we were in Sarasota a few weeks ago. The weather could not have been more perfect. It was upper 70s-lower 80s, sunny, with a slight breeze. I got this off the shoulder top towards the end of the summer (only $11). Unfortunately, I had my surgery so I couldn't wear it. I took advantage of the warm weather and brought this top with me along with this A-line skirt. I found these red fringed, lace-up sandals (also comes in black and grey) when I was shopping in Sarasota. It is such a fun pair of sandals! I look forward to wearing it more during the summer. It elevates any outfit.

Every year, we go to Sarasota and we love it. There is so much to see and do. I'm considering doing a travel post on Sarasota. Will you guys be interested in it? Just let me know!

Hope you all are having a great week so far!

  9. Well.. I just spent 5 minutes typing a long comment to you... and instead of hitting publish, my sleepy self hit "sign out" and my comment is gone. :o(

I'll have to come back before the week end's to type it out again. I'm so bummed right now.

In summary, you were in my thoughts the other day and your openness and sharing of your trials and triumphs is so courageous and inspirational. You, Rach, look amazing!!

  24. I have been hoping you would do this for some time now! I have always loved your wig, but I think embracing how beautiful you are after all you've been through, is way better than the wig! I really look up to your for doing this and I know countless others will too. Again, thank you for sharing this journey with all of us. Your bravery is inspiring. <3
