Shopping At SheIn

Have any of you shopped at SheIn? SheIn is a fast fashion online retailer for affordable and budget-friendly clothes. I personally love to use SheIn to test out a new trend. I’m not a fan of splurging on fashion trends or trendy pieces, but from time to time, I like to test them out. However, shopping at SheIn can be tricky. Before I proceed, I will be honest. Even though I showcase some of their clothes, SheIn can be a hit or miss. Sometimes you’ll end up with high quality items or low quality items.

After over 4 years of blogging, I finally found the trick when it comes to shopping there. I also want to let you know that sometimes you get what you pay for. Although their clothing items have affordable prices, expect long shipping. This means sometimes it won’t arrive until 3 weeks later. I do not recommend utilizing them if you need something quickly.

Here are my SheIn shopping tips and hopefully it will you with your shopping experience.

Read the size guide. The sizing is different from piece to piece. They don’t have standard sizing, which can be annoying. The good thing is that the size chart they offer for each item is accurate. So make sure you pay attention to the sizing measurements. Plus, returning is a pain with them. It is almost not worth the hassle. So before you buy, check the size. Therefore, I encourage you to know your own size measurement.

Size Up. When in doubt, size up. Their sizes are based on Asian measurements and true to size does not always work. So if you are in between sizes (according to the size chart), I recommend going a size up. I sized up when I was talking about this jumpsuit and for my polka dot top. So glad I did! If you’re busty up top, for sure size up.

Read Reviews. Thank goodness for people who take the time to review items. They have made it easier on me to figure out if an item is worth the purchase. And these reviews are honest. This is extremely helpful when I find something that is too good to be true. I almost don’t buy an item when I don’t see reviews. If they provide a picture, even better.

Look up bloggers. I believe fashion bloggers do an awesome job sharing amazing pieces from Shein. And no, I’m not just saying that because I am a blogger. Before I was a blogger, I shopped at Shein and used bloggers as references. When I find something I like, I check if another blogger has worn it.

It’s helpful for two reasons:

1) They provide high-quality photos so you can tell if the product is a good one.
2) They will provide information regarding sizing. Even if that blogger is not your size, knowing the size they wear gives you a general idea what size you should get. The best way to look up bloggers wearing Shein is by checking out SheIn’s Instagram profile and checking the tagged section. Shameless plug, you can always go to me. I almost always mention my honest thoughts!

Ignore the size “one size”. Occasionally, you will run into pieces that only have ‘one size’. In my opinion, I don’t trust it because it is almost impossible that this article of clothing will fit every woman. Let’s be real, every woman is shaped differently.

Because we are talking about shopping at SheIn, this polka dot top is from SheIn. As mentioned above, I sized up to a medium because I wasn’t sure (and I always size up when in doubt). According to their size chart, I was in between. I didn’t want to run the risk of the buttons not being able to button haha. The size medium fits comfortably with a little room. I probably could have fit in a size small, but as long as this fits fine, I’m happy with it. FYI, I’m 32C on top.

This is one of the few pieces that I ordered from SheIn that I decided to test out and I’m happy with the quality. The reason why is because it was not gifted from them. Therefore, there were no obligations to post about it. When I do post a gifted Shein item, I definitely follow all the tips noted above. I want to make sure it is something I feel comfortable posting about! I NEVER EVER would recommend something I would not wear.

    I always read the size guide, and that’s super helpful! And another thing I’ve found helpful is not to buy the things that seem too cheap to be true. I find that if a top costs around $20 on Shein, it’s probably cute, but if it’s like $9, it will probably be way too cheaply made, as you might expect. I should totally do a post like this because I love to purchase big orders from Shein.

    Shopping at Shein is sooo hit or miss for me so these are definitely helpful tips! I’m the same with you in that I tend to try out the more ‘trendy’ items I know won’t be ‘in’ forever at Shein because I know I won’t be spending too much money on that item!
