Over the weekend I went apple picking with my friend Gina. It’s been a very long time since I went to an apple orchard. The last time I went was 4 years ago! I completely forgot how much fun it was to go apple picking and just do all the Fall festivities. Not only did we bring home buckets of apples, we indulged in Fall goodies. I had freshly made apple cider donuts (you bet I brought some home), hot apple cider, and took advantage of the baked potato bar. Yes, that is right, a baked potato bar! Any topping you can imagine. Of course, I had mine slathered in lots of cheese, broccoli, and jalapeño. It totally hit the spot!
So the weather was kind of funny. In the city, it was chilly so I brought layers. I even considered bringing gloves. I know I am a wuss and I’m from Chicago! Thank goodness for layers because when we arrived at Poplar Grove, it felt 10 degrees warmer. I switched out my anorak jacket to a utility vest and had my checked scarf on just in case it got chillier. As much as I love the pop of color from my scarf, I got too hot wearing it. The sun was shining very bright (as you can see in the photos). There was rarely any shade! I had to borrow Gina’s sunglasses so I could stop squinting from the sun. What did you guys do this weekend?
