Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Open for the Public

So the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is finally open to the public as of yesterday. I know I am late to the game but I didn’t feel like posting about it because I was too busy shopping at the sale haha. I was about to head to the store, but since it was pouring outside, I decided my laptop would do. Before I go on about the items on sale, I promised you all last week  that I would share a memorable story about the Nordstrom Sale that happened last year.

Memorable Story About the Nordstrom Sale

Almost a year ago, my first set of surgeries was the removal of my sentinel lymph nodes. This surgery occurred a week before my double mastectomy. As I slowly started to wake up from the anesthesia, the first thing I said and asked my nurses was ‘Did you know that Nordstrom is having their Anniversary Sale? I really need to go shopping before my favorite stuff goes out of stock’. Hahaha! My nurses were like ‘You are barely conscious and Nordstrom is the first thing that popped in your head.’ But it reminded a couple of the nurses that they should shop it haha!

Then during recovery after my double mastectomy (and remember this was a 9 hour surgery) and as I started to slowly wake up, I kind of freaked out to my nurses. I told them ‘I don’t have anything cute to wear. I need to go to Nordstrom because all the cute stuff is on sale’. And my nurses were like ‘You just got up from a 9 hour surgery and all you want are some cute outfits’. At least it lightened the mood up in the Recovery Unit haha. Then they turned to my husband and told him that he really needs to take me to Nordstrom.

Can you tell I’m a true shopper at heart?! This is a silly story but it was a happy memory in a strange way. I was probably in the worst pain I’ve ever felt but shopping the Nordstrom sale brought me joy. So now this sale just reminds me of the laughter it brought everyone after my surgeries and that makes me happy. So this sale now makes me really happy (not that it didn’t already haha).

Why the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is Worth the Hype

Many people have said it and I’ve seen it too, this sale is all over social media. Some are counting down for the sale to be over so they no longer have to see these posts haha. I get it. But for me, I think the sale is worth the hype. Why? Well, I’m the kind of girl that loves buying basic pieces. Basic pieces are so versatile. I also don’t like to spend too much money. We have a budget and we like to stick to it. So this sale just makes some of the basic pieces I am eyeing more affordable. Chicago has all 4 seasons, or in my words 2 seasons: cold season and summer season. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has all the items I need for Chicago’s cold season. Usually these items are pricey.

So that is why I think the sale is worth the hype. All the Fall and Winter must-haves are marked down and they are definitely needed when the cold weather starts rolling in. This sale is not about finding the most unique and fashion-forward pieces. This sale is about the best quality, basic pieces to stock up in your closet for the cold weather.

  7. Love your picks and yaas to all the cardigans. I stocked up on those. Is it just me, or did things sell out faster than ever this year?

    Also, that story is classic. I'm sure you brought smiles to everyone around you. So happy you are looking back on it now. The NSale is one of few sales that brings me joy, too (except when items sell out! gahh!).

  16. So true, I love getting my fall and winter clothes early on (or way later) so that I can get them discounted! And wow what a memorable story! I can't believe you were thinking about the Nordstrom sale during/after your surgery! Dedicated stylist, you are!
