How was everyone’s weekend? We spent Friday and Saturday in the suburbs hanging out with my family. My mom made homemade Filipino food which Tre and I devoured. Yum! And then we went to various shops and did some antiquing on Saturday. We found this cute little 3-tiered circular shelf with gold hardware which we will convert into a bar cart. We have this corner that is awkwardly empty in our dining room, but anything large or busy would be too much. So the antique shelf was perfect! Do you guys have a spot like that in your home?

Can you believe tomorrow is 4th of July already?! Sheesh, this Summer is going by fast! I’m probably late to the game and didn’t really think about my 4th of July outfit. It wasn’t until I was scrolling through Instagram and noticed all these 4th of July outfit inspirations! If I was thinking ahead, I would love to wear this Stars & Stripes tee with white denim skirt or American Star Baseball tee with a denim mini skirt. I guess there’s always next year right?

What to Wear on 4th of July

However, I think it is doable to put together a last minute 4th of July outfit.  For instance, when I wanted this gingham red dress, I honestly was not thinking patriotic. I just liked it bc of the gingham pattern and the red color. Right when I was putting this outfit together, I thought why not wear this for 4th of July. It’s red and I can find accents to make it more patriotic. By the way, since these photos were taken when it was bright outside, the red washed out in the photo giving it more of a magenta color. However, this dress has a true red color.

Last Minute 4th of July Outfit

1. Pick an outfit that contains the primary color of red, white, or blue.

This may sound obvious right? But when we are too focused on creating a themed outfit, sometimes we forgot the basics exist in that color scheme! Either it is a solid blue dress, white tee, or red shorts.

2. Accent the outfit with accessories in red, white or blue.

For instance, if you are wearing a white tee, maybe pair it with a red headband or if you have a blue striped dress maybe pair it with red sandals, etc. For me, I decided to use my blue neck scarf as a headband since it will complement the red gingham.

3. Keep it comfortable.

I’ve seen some elaborate 4th of July outfits, but let’s be honest. This holiday happens in the middle of the summer which means the temperature is most likely at its highest. You’ll be outdoors possibly grilling or hanging out at the beach/lake, and you just want your outfit to be able to handle all of that!

Hopefully these steps encourage you to take a look into your closet and get creative! No need to go out and buy a patriotic outfit. Plus, it’ll save you some money and hopefully that extra saving can be utilized for shopping at some of the sales 🙂

    The initial look I was going to wear for 4th of July was a romper very similar to this dress, but in blue. As you know, I ended up with the pom pom look which I really love. And I'm also really loving this gingham dress on you. Great for the holiday.

    I like your 4th of July outfit very much, even if it wasn't prepared super far in advance. I think the gingham is perfect and your headscarf is super cute too. You look super festive and fun!
