The sun is shining and the birds are chirping. Tons of bachelorette parties, bridal showers, and wedding invites are being sent out.  That’s right, it is wedding season! For some of you, it probably already started in early Spring. We just started our wedding season last week and I wore this dress. One of the first things that pops in my head when a wedding approaches is what to wear. Unless you are part of the bridal party, what you wear is totally up to you.
What to Wear to a Wedding if You’re a Wedding Guest
1. Don’t wear a constricting dress.
You want to wear a dress with movement especially if you are going to hit up the dance floor. You want to feel comfortable in your dress while you bust out your moves. And you don’t want to worry about overexposing, constricting your movement, or potentially ripping your dress. I usually try to find flowy dresses. So when I saw this cold shoulder dress, I knew it was the perfect dress to wear for a wedding!
2. Â Wear comfortable and simple shoes.
Even if you are just a guest, you will be on your feet most of the time. You’ll be walking around greeting people you know and standing around until you can be seated for dinner. So investing in comfortable shoes makes a difference.  I always choose simple styled shoes because I want my shoes to go with any dress. Plus, you can wear them outside of the wedding for other occasions. It is all about making good use of your money.
3. Wear a dress that makes you feel good not because it is trendy.
When you feel good, you will feel confident, and honestly, you will just shine without trying. Confidence is the best outfit to wear. So if a classic LBD is what you want to wear, go for it! Or if you want to wear a bright yellow dress because it is your favorite, go for it! Just don’t wear white 🙂
4. Simplify your accessories.
You want your accessories to compliment your outfit but not overpower it. I initially wanted to wear a necklace with this dress, but realized that a necklace would be too much and take away from the dress. So I opted for tassel earrings.Â
I hope this helps. Also, if you want more dress ideas, stay tuned! I will be showcasing more dresses this summer. Have you seen this yellow dress I featured last week? That is a totally great option!

Your tips are spot on, and your dress is gorgeous! I love the idea of making sure your dress has movement, what is the fun of dancing in a constricting sheath?
Chic on the Cheap
Thanks girl! Exactly my same thoughts! I once wore a shift dress to a wedding. It was comfortable but I couldn't do much on the dance floor. It took the fun out of it!
I love that you have a dress that shows so much movement! To me that is what made weddings fun when I was photographing them! Such a lovely color on you too!
The Adored Life
Oh yes!! I didn't even think about it when it comes to photography. But I'm with ya!
I can't get over how nicely this dress fits on you. Such great movement in it as well. And I bought the bullet and finally got that Cult Gaia bag!

Thanks Cheryl! I did too recently and I must say I am obsessed!
I've only been to one wedding in recent years, and I could've really used this guide then, lol! I wore a tight dress that looked good when I was standing, but was uncomfortable when I was sitting—yikes! You look beautiful, as always, hun! This needs to be your summer color!

HAHA I did the same thing girl! It was awesome standing around but when it came to sitting and dancing, I wish I went for a different dress haha.
I totally agree with all of these tips! Such a great post and you look completely stunning! The shade of pink is definitely your color girl 🙂

I hope these tips help!
All excellent tips – especially about the shoes! The last wedding I went to I made the rookie mistake of wearing shoes I hadn't broken in yet! I had to sit out a few dances to songs I really loved and that was sad so I hope everyone takes heed and wear comfy shoes!
