Happy Valentine’s Day!
How is it already mid-February?! Do you have plans for today? I bet going out to eat is a pain. Every restaurant is probably booked or the walk-in wait is AT LEAST an hour. But today, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share some last minute date ideas. Honestly, a lot of this doesn’t require a significant other. You can treat yourself or spend it with your best girl friends. So here we go!
And remember, you don’t need it to be Valentine’s Day to do these last minute date ideas. You can pretty much do them any time during the year.
Last Minute Date Ideas
Have an indoor picnic.
Tre and I love doing this especially during days with crappy weather. Ahem, pretty much every day during Winter haha.
Not in the mood to cook? Go to Trader Joe’s, and pick out your favorite light bites from Trader Joe’s frozen food aisle.
OMG, TJ’s has the best selections! One night, my sister and I had decided to just buy all of our favorites and have a sister night in. It was so fun. And the only thing we splurged one was a nice bottle of wine. My all time favorite frozen appetizers from Trader Joe’s are the Pastry Bites with Feta Cheese & Carmelized Onion. SOO GOOD!
Create your dream fort.
Remember how much fun building a fort was when you were younger? Pile on all the pillows and get some string lights. This blanket fort is exactly how I envisioned mine to be. This site also has some great fort ideas.
Maybe create a meal together.
Potentially something more challenging? I saw this list of Plant-Based recipes and everything looks delicious. I love that it included ingredients I have never worked with before.
Try a new workout studio.
If you are going to try something new, might as well be something that is good for you right? I love using Class Pass to try out new studios. Tre and I recently tried boulder climbing together. It is something we both would have never thought we wanted to do, but we wanted to switch up our Friday nights. It turned out to be fun! We went to Brooklyn Boulders and did the Intro to Climbing class.
Create new cocktails.
This is something we have not done, but always talk about making. If there are 2 of you, make 2 different cocktails, if there’s 3 make 3 different cocktails, etc. Just make sure you have some food too haha (like Trader Joe’s frozen food!). I came across a list of 2-ingredient cocktails, and they look amazing. I want to try to make the Garibaldi!
Be a tourist!
Explore your city’s touristy spots.
Binge watch a TV Show you both have never watched before.
Is there a show that everyone raves about, but you have never seen it? Might as well see what it’s all about.
Create a travel themed night in!
Is there a place you (and your significant other) have always wanted to go to? How about go all out and make your place look like Paris, Morocco, or wherever you want to go. Even go as far as making their cuisines. I’m intrigued by this cookbook from grandmas around the world. If it’s in the budget, after dinner, start planning your trip there!
Go out for hot chocolate.
Are there some great spots for hot chocolate around you? In Chicago, my favorite places to get hot chocolate are Vosges Chocolates, Katherine Anne Confections, and Cocoa & Co. Their hot chocolates are so decadent. For sure a treat!
It’s About Love Not About Couples
So these are my 10 last minute date ideas for Valentine’s Day. You don’t need a reservation to a fancy restaurant to enjoy the day. Also, you don’t necessarily need a significant other either. Treat yourself or hang out with your best girl friends. This day is not about being a couple, it’s about love and appreciation.
Have a Happy Valentine’s Day!
xo RD

These are all so cute! Love the fort. I’m still not in the mood to celebrate so I’m not sure what I’m going to do.

I’ll probably spend the night in, but building a fort sounds so fun! It reminds me of my childhood and I had forgotten all about them until I read your post! Happy Valentine’s Day! Your pictures are so adorable!!
