Why I Prefer The Mika Classic UGG Sneakers vs UGG Classic Boots

Ugh, Winter

I want to talk about my UGG sneakers. But first, I apologize for all the full-on Winter looks lately. Winter is still going strong. Doing outfit photos during the Winter is almost impossible. It’s too cold, and I can only tolerate it when I’m bundled up. Perhaps next year I should consider indoor photos? Something to think about I guess. I’ve created some fun Winter outfits, but there is no way I am going outside without a coat.

Remember around when I first started blogging, I would wear a skirt while there was a foot of snow? Classic rookie blogger mistake. It reminds me of my freshmen year of college (12 yearsish ago?), and I refused to bring my coat when I would go out. I’d be wearing a tank top, skinny jeans, and heels in the middle of Winter. Insert face palm.

I’m sooo over the winter clothes. I know I got out of my winter rut, but I want to start wearing clothes that are soooo me - aka coatless. Punxsutawney Phil (the groundhog) didn’t see his shadow, so Spring better come early!

Why I Love The UGG Sneakers

Alright, I’ll stop complaining now. I love UGG boots. Their boots do an amazing job keeping my feet warm during the Winter. They helped me survive walking around campus during my college days. Because walking to class during the dead of Winter was brutal. I owned the classic tall UGGs. Ya know, the ones that almost everyone had. I kept trying to use them after college and up until a few years ago. They took quite the beating. I knew I had to retire them.

Somehow, I never got around to replacing my UGGs, but I am so glad I waited. UGG came out with the Mika UGG Sneakers, and they’re just like the classic UGGs but better. If you owned the classic pair, you know that it barely has any grip. Meaning slipping is possible and that is a big no-no when there’s black ice or lightly dusted slippery snow. I immediately jumped on getting the Mika UGG sneakers asap. They really do feel like sneakers. I can walk and run in them like sneakers (although, I really don’t recommend them for working out). Living in Chicago, you pretty much walk everywhere and this is what I needed to get through Winter.

You bet it has kept my feet just as warm as the classic ones. Which is why I don’t think I will ever go back to the classic ones. Plus, the UGG sneakers are slightly more affordable and you won’t slip. That’s a win-win. Just saying! So if you are thinking of getting a new pair of UGG boots, I highly recommend the Mika Classic UGG sneakers.

An Affordable Option

But of course if you are into the classic one, Koolaburra is UGG’s sister brand and the quality is pretty much the same. The only difference is that Koolaburra is more affordable. So that is an option for you too.

An Affordable Winter Coat

I also raved about this coat on Instagram. I raved about it because I only spent $26!!! This is why I love shopping at ASOS so much. It is intimidating due to the quantity of items they sell, but there are a lot of gems. You can spend on luxury there if you want, but most of the time their stuff is affordable. I showed this coat to my friend Heidi, and she was shocked how much I paid. She looked at the brand and went “omg, it is from Noisy May too. This is a really good brand!”.

Spanx Leggings

I wore these Spanx leggings when talking about finding wanderlust. Yup, another very wintery look, but I can’t recommend them enough either. I own the faux leather Spanx leggings and it is as amazing as everyone says, but these seamless ones are great for everyday, anytime wear. The appeal is that it has the classic leggings look. I love that it is extremely high-waisted. Some may say it is way too high, but I personally don’t mind the extra coverage. It goes 5 inches past my belly button (so slightly below the boobs). They’re so comfortable, flattering, and they fit true to size!

    I never even considered the Ugg sneakers! I love my Uggs but of course I slip and slide in them so I have to be very cautious when walking around the city when there’s ice on the ground. Thanks for the awesome recommendation!

    They are such cosy slippers for a cold day, and it looks so cold int he pics! That coat looks like it’s keeping you nice and cosy 🙂 I don’t know how you do it - I find winter photos hard and it’s nothing like the cold weather you get, haha!
