Our 2017 Christmas Card
I am so excited to share with you guys our Christmas Card for this year! I always get excited planning, picking out the card, and sending them out. We usually send these out a little after Thanksgiving so that all of our friends and family can get our Christmas card the first week of December. I don’t know why, but something about the process of Christmas cards is so much fun. I think what makes it so special is the fact that it is sent and received snail mail style. These days it is so rare to get personal mail via snail mail. Everything is email, text, Facebook, or e-vites. I’m always a fan of getting snail mail, so when I send out our Christmas cards I know that ‘getting mail’ nostalgia will bring joy to our family and friends as well.
The Making Of Our Christmas Card
Honestly, I wasn’t sure how I wanted our Christmas card to be but I knew I wanted to get it done. But of course silly me didn’t think about how or more like who will take the photos for it. I’m so used to having Tre take my outfit photos that it didn’t cross my mind that Tre couldn’t take these photos because duh we both had to be in it. So guess who took it?! My brother-in-law! He took time out of his day to take photos of Tre and I and of course it was on one of the coldest days – and of course I wanted it to be on the lakefront aka really really cold. He was also very patient because I kept asking for more and more shots and was constantly directing him. I think he did an incredible job! So thankful for family coming to the rescue!
Where Did We Get Our Card
I had been contemplating where to order our Christmas cards this year for a while. I was debating about whether to try somewhere new. There are so many good ones out there! But I finally made a decision and went with Minted. Last year and the year before that we went with Minted and we have always been very happy with the service and results. Plus, I love the endless amount of options. The card we selected is the Candy Cane Merry Holiday Card. For the back, we went with the solid red background and two photos with a message to give to our family and friends.
Why Did We Go With Them
Aside from the abundance of cute cards to select from, they had so many features that made this entire process easy.
- Free Recipient Addressing
This is a time saver! I have a large family and several friends we love to send our cards to and their addresses are already populated on the envelope. The recipient addressing also comes in cute designs. They usually match it based on the card you selected, but there are options to change it. They also populate the return address. Basically, all I had to do was stuff the envelope haha! - Holiday Stamps
If you look closely at our stamps it has our last name on it! It just makes it a little bit more special! - Saved Design
When creating your holiday card, you can save your design during the entire process. That way if you had to step out and work on something else, it is back to where you left it when you return. For me, I love it because I can create several versions of the same card design. I was indecisive regarding which photo to use so I created multiple saved designs so I can visualize how it will turn out.
More Than Just Cards

Did you know that Minted is more than just a card company? They have several holiday decor items and I got some cute garlands and wrapping papers. I have the Peppermint Felt Garland and Rosy Glow Garland. They’re the cutest! I ended up using them on our mini Christmas trees.
The wrapping papers in these photos are also from Minted. I have the Winter Night, Happy Christmas Stockings, Evergreen Forest, and Assorted Candy Cane wrapping papers.
Aside from Holiday decor, I have used Minted for home decor. The majority of my gallery wall art is from Minted.
