The Best Jumpsuit for Traveling
During our time in Spain & Portugal, there was one jumpsuit that was the best jumpsuit for traveling. It is an outfit that I repeatedly wore over and over again, despite the fact that I overpacked (Side note: Am I the only one that packs enough clothes during time away but ends up wearing the same stuff? I’m guilty of that. #sorrynotsorry). Sometimes I wonder why I bring the amount of clothes that I do.
Anyways, the reason why I repeatedly wore this jumpsuit is because it was so so so comfortable! Just one of the many reasons why it is the best jumpsuit for traveling. I wore it on our first day in Madrid (Spain) and couldn’t resist wearing it again when we were in Lisbon (Portugal). I’m telling you guys, you all need a jumpsuit like this. I was fortunate to come across it at a store called Curl Surf, in Disney – which is only located at Disney World’s Disney Springs or Disneyland’s Downtown Disney. Unfortunately, their site does not provide any product links. Butttt since I am an obsessive shopper (after all this blog is called RD’s Obsessions haha), I found jumpsuits that basically have the same style, fit, and fabric! So if you want a travel jumpsuit very similar to mine, see my suggestions below.

Alright, let me give you 5 reasons why I love it and why you will love it too. It is the perfect travel outfit.
5 Reasons Why This is the Best Jumpsuit for Traveling
Aside from talking about why this jumpsuit is the best for traveling, I will also give tips on how to look for the best jumpsuit for traveling.
It is comfortable.
I know I already said it, but omg how soft the fabric feels and how it just lays on your body. It feels like your favorite sweatpants or pajamas. Last week, I mentioned that comfort is the number one thing I look for when thinking abut what to pack. I want to be able to explore all day without worrying about my clothes or being uncomfortable. How I define comfortable clothing is if the piece of clothing checks off the following items. Sometimes I ask myself, would I be comfortable in this in a long-plane ride. If the answer is yes, you know it is the perfect travel jumpsuit.
How To Determine Comfortable Clothes
- Are the clothes breathable – Will you feel okay in it if you get hot? How about if you get cold? Is there room for your body to breathe?
- Have full range of movement – Can you move and do what ever you want in that jumpsuit? Or does it feel like it is restricting you? I know for me, when I’m sitting down (in my plane seat too), I like to sit crisscross applesauce style. Or when walking around, I just don’t want to feel restricted at all.
- Feels good against your skin – How does the fabric feel on your skin? I love it when it feels buttery soft. Almost silk-like but better.
So effortless.
Jumpsuits in general are very effortless. You only have to put on one outfit. Because of its wide-leg style and criss-cross back detail, you already look well put together! Don’t you just love it when you don’t have to try to look good yet you look good? Effortless also means you don’t have to try too hard to get dressed. Who wants to spend their time trying to put together a good outfit when traveling?! I sure don’t. When we travel, I’m ready to explore and want to leave our hotel room as soon as possible. Otherwise, I feel like it is a waste of a day.
When I say effortless, I want to wear a jumpsuit that also makes me look well put-together. Does it have details about it that gives it style? You definitely want to avoid something that requires a lot of accessorizing – so think minimal. Less you have to think about adding to the outfit means less to pack. We all know we want to try to pack as light as possible. Especially if you are an overpacked like me!
Easy to layer.
The fabric is lightweight so wearing something over it doesn’t give it a bulky feeling despite its very flowy look. I didn’t feel restricted when I wore my jean jacket over it. Or you can layer a long-sleeve or a short-sleeve tee underneath it on a chilly day. It will still look chic without compromising comfort or the style. I didn’t feel limited with the type of layering piece to wear it with.
You definitely want to look for a jumpsuit that doesn’t limit you with the type of layering. You want to be able to wear a coat over it easily or wear a dressed up top underneath to jazz it up. One thing I noticed especially when traveling in Europe is that the temperature fluctuates from day to night. For instance, when we were in Venice I had to be strategic with what to pack. Early in the morning it was chilly and then gradually warmed up. As soon as the the sun disappeared for the evening, it was back to chilly temperatures.
It is so versatile.
You can just wear it casually or it can easily have a dressed up look to it. It is all a matter of accessorizing. I mainly wore it as a casual outfit, but if I want to go on a date night with it, it would make a quick and easy transition. Just make sure whatever you are accessorizing with doesn’t take up much room in your luggage! All I have to do is put on my favorite gold statement earrings and blocked-heel sandals.
Versatility really is the key. You want to be able to wear the jumpsuit multiple times, especially if you are limited with the amount of luggage you can bring. Or if you are limited to the amount of time you can spend in your hotel. There are definitely times during our trips where Tre and I have zero time to stop in our hotel. So I try to make sure that my outfit for that day can be a good day-time outfit and evening outfit (if we plan on dining at a nicer restaurant). Time is so precious when traveling! Similar to what I mentioned earlier, you want to be able to make a quick update to your jumpsuit.
Easy to Pack.
Aside from the fact that it is just one item, so duh it is easy to pack, it folds up nicely and doesn’t take up much space. It can easily mold into any shape and it is light. I’m all about maximizing my luggage space. Hence, why I have room to overpack haha. Btw, the items I use for traveling to save space and stay organized are in this and this guide.
I highly recommend avoiding any jumpsuits that are bulky. It’s just a waste of space. In my opinion, if it is bulky, it’s probably not as breathable, limited with versatility, and probably hard to layer. Another important thing to keep in mind is to find one that doesn’t wrinkle as easily or is wrinkle resistant. If you can avoid bringing a steamer, even if it is a travel steamer, you will save so much space!
The Best Travel Jumpsuit
Earlier I shared jumpsuits similar to the one I was wearing. Now I am sharing more jumpsuits that are ideal for traveling. They range from different styles, but they meet the criteria as a travel jumpsuit.
Best Airport Jumpsuit
I shared this on Instagram, but this particular jumpsuit is perfect for an airport outfit. So soft and comfortable and so affordable! I just had to share it because I truly think this one will be great for long flights!
The Bra to Wear
So if you are like me and see an open back, or basically an outfit where you know bra straps or bra bands will be exposed, I immediately think ‘what kind of bra can I wear with this?’ I purchased these Daisies Nipple Pasties. They have more coverage than the breast petals (only one-time use) because it guarantees you nipple coverage (even if you are cold!). It’s also seamless. So you don’t have to worry about an outline of the pasties.
They were easy to use and I had no issues with them. I love that they are reusable which means I don’t have to worry about constantly buying them as opposed to the breast petals. All you have to do is rinse with cool water and mild soap and let it air dry. It even comes with a travel case! They do an amazing job staying on for an entire day (and I was sweating too. Sorry if that was TMI). It is supposed to last up to 25 uses. Honestly, I think I’ve used it more than that and until now it sticks on perfectly just like the first time.
To be completely transparent, in this photo I am wearing the breast gel petals. I discovered the Daisies Nipple Pasties after our trip to Portugal. I know ugh. The breast gel petals are also reusable, but are not as seamless as the Daisies Nipple Pasties.
What about you guys? Do you have a favorite outfit for traveling?

That jumpsuit looks fabulous on you! It would never work for me, bra-less styles are just not going to happen!
How did the jumpsuit work out for the public restroom situation? I would be worried about the hems touching the floor.

Thank you Lydia! I actually wore petals. Ever since my mastectomy with reconstruction, my new foobs make it bearable to not wear a real bra haha. For public bathrooms, right before I sit on the toilet I hike up my pants up so they don’t touch the ground. Also, i never actually sit on the toilet. I squat haha.
I love these pretty pastel pictures! You look so lovely and this jumpsuit looks SO comfy. Definitely good for travel!

Exactly!
I love that its a jumpsuit instead of a dress. I dont know why but I almost always go for a pant over a dress. Its a super awesome color. You said the fabric is really soft, is it a jersey knit?
Thanks for the inspiration, thexglitterbox
