Who is Sela Fit

I have mentioned Sela Fit a few times on my InstaStory. If you’re not familiar with them, they are an athlesiure & shape wear brand. Since day one, before they launched, I became obsessed with Sela Fit. Everything about the brand, from their mission, what they stand for, and the fit & style of their clothes, is so aligned with who I am. I think it so rare to find a brand that completely resonates with who I am as a person.

As some of you know, fitness is something I have been passionate about and even more so since my cancer diagnosis. Before cancer, I was a workout warrior. I was running marathons, constantly reaching my PR (personal record), and kicking ass in doing pushups, squats, and weight-lifting. Ever since chemo, I find myself weak. A lot had to do with how the treatments have taken a toll on my body and my post-surgery recovery. Especially after surgery, I lost quite a bit of muscle. In addition to that, since my body was forced to go into menopause due to hormonal therapy and the fact I was on steroids (to help with side effects from chemo), the weight gain has come on rapidly. Going through treatments and surgeries has caused me not to recognize myself.

Fortunately, I am now in a better place with my body but it is still a work in progress. I got back to working on my fitness and I am learning and appreciating the resilience and strength of my body. During this process, I rely on good workout clothes.

Body Positivity

There are so many brands out there that support body positivity and I am glad it is being recognized. However, I never felt fully connected with their messaging. I don’t know why, maybe because my situation is unique, but it is hard to feel like you are part of that community they are creating.

Why I Love Sela Fit

And then one day, I heard about a new athleisure company (this was prior to their June launch) and I read a small briefing about the reason why they started this athleisure brand, and every single sentence I was reading I was screaming ‘YES!’. I instantly wanted to help spread the word about this amazing brand because I knew I wasn’t the only woman who would appreciate what Sela Fit stood for. So being the blogger that I am, I reached out to them. I had no expectations. I simply reached out to let them know how much I loved their message and if there was any way I could help. And to my surprise, they responded!! We immediately set up a date to meet. Let’s just say after we met I was obsessed with Sela Fit and this was before I even saw their pieces.

What They Stand For

Sela Fit celebrates women throughout their journey and wants to help them embrace their strength and beauty. They believe women should do whatever they want to do with themselves to feel that confidence. They also wanted to create pieces that are made for women no matter where they are in their personal and fitness journey. So if you are an intense workout warrior or just loving functional clothing to wear day-to-day, they got you covered. They want every woman to feel included. I love their statement:

Sela Fit believes in celebrating the unparalleled strength and beauty of the female body. After all, with every curve comes a journey worth taking and a story worth telling. This is ours.

That pretty much is my personal journey with recovery and my cancer experience.
They also believe that women should feel comfortable. Feeling comfortable about yourself brings out your inner confidence. That is why when they were creating the pieces they were thinking about functionality and style. They want women to feel good in their clothes. So there was a lot of thought that went into the production. For example, they understood that workout tanks ride up. So when you’re doing something like a burpee, the last thing you want to do is constantly feel self-conscious because your shirt would ride up and expose your belly. Or what about not enough butt coverage? They make sure their tops are long enough to cover up your bum and they make sure their leggings are high-waisted (high-waisted is also so flattering!).

Last but not least, I loved this brand because of the people behind it. In my opinion, you can judge the quality of the end results by the people behind it. From our meeting, I can tell they care. They are so passionate about women empowerment and their products. They shared their own personal struggles and why they started this brand. And overall, they are just good people. They were so genuine and authentic, and I couldn’t help but embrace that!

The Clothes

Ok, now let’s chat about the pieces I am wearing. First of all, the fabric feels so nice against your skin. It is sooo soft! Comfort I’ve never felt in a workout outfit! Plus, I am obsessed with the colors of their pieces. I decided to go with ‘The Everything Leggings‘ in the Mist color. It fits true to size (I am wearing a size small) and it has compression throughout to provide extra support. Honestly, I think it makes the legs look flattering too! It is very high-waisted (which I love!). It is worth every penny!

I am also wearing the ‘Braided Tank‘ in Blush color. The back has a longer hem to provide butt coverage. There’s a cute braided detail with mesh fabric to make it breathable. The tank also fits true to size (I’m wearing a size small). It is fitted but still roomy so you don’t feel like your body is wrapped in saran wrap (that’s how I feel about very fitted workout tanks haha). There’s enough room so it feels comfortable. It also gives you options on how you want to wear it. You can wear it as is, do a front-tuck (because it looks so good with the high-waisted leggings), or do a tie-knot (in the center or side).

Alright, I have been going on and on about Sela Fit, but I can’t help it! They are such an amazing company and their stuff is made with the best quality. So there ya go, now you know why I love Sela Fit. I’m probably missing more reasons why, but 1000 words later, I’m sure you get the picture! I hope you all love them as much as I do.

    I’ve never heard of this brand before, but I am loving what they stand for! Celebrating the strength and beauty of the female body is so important. Also yes to a brand that understands what women want when working out! High waisted leggings and longer in the back shirts are all that I could ever want with workout wear.

    I really love the tank, it looks like such a versatile piece. The great thing about athleisure is being able to use it both functionality for work outs but also in everyday life. I can totally see myself wearing that tank (especially tied like that) with a pair of jeans!
    Also I love the mission of Sela Fit. It really resonates with my thoughts on self love, and remembering that while I’m working to prehaps be stronger or faster, my body is still beautiful throughout this journey.

    I do love them already! First of all, as a new reader I admire your determination and strength through your experience with cancer, I’m sorry you went through that, but I’m glad you’re better now.
    You look beautiful in the pictures, no trace of the pain and the very difficult things you endured. And your description of this brand make me want to buy the same exact garments you’re wearing here.
