Urge to Refresh
Anyone in the mood to refresh your home after the holidays? I definitely had the urge to do so, and since the new year (aka 2019 goals) I’ve been organizing, purging, and now refreshing the look of our home. Of course, I can be very ambitious and want to change almost everything when it comes to refreshing. I just want new everything. This would give Tre a heart attack haha.
But let’s be real, changing everything in your home is unrealistic and of course, it comes with a cost. A cost that I personally can’t spend money on or doesn’t fit in the budget. Well fortunately, I found a solution. I teamed up with Scotties to share with you all quick and affordable tips to refresh your home after the holidays. Seriously, these little changes make such an impact. Especially after all the organizing and purging!
4 Quick Tips to Refresh Your Home After The Holidays
A lot that I am suggesting are things you may already have in your home or they’re inexpensive & easy to get. The best part is that they are functional yet eye appealing. Sometimes functional items can be an eye sore. Lately, I’ve been trying to find ways to decorate with function without changing or creating an obstruction to the aesthetic.
Trays, Trays, Trays! I seriously love using trays for almost anything in our home especially if it has something to do with items in your home that have to be exposed or left on a counter, dresser, or shelf. Trays help everything look organized and put together. For instance, if you have a bunch of beauty products on your bathroom counter, placing them in a tray helps the counter look less cluttered and more well put-together.
Trays nowadays come in several different designs, materials, and shapes. So they can basically fit any aesthetic. I love using little dish trinkets for random knick knacks. Sometimes I place small trays in a larger tray so that my counter or dresser looks less crowded. I would organize one small tray for jewelry, one for keys, and one for my hair ties/bobby pins.
Change Sheets/Pillow Covers
A new set of bedsheets or pillowcases is a great way to freshen up the house. These quickly and easily give a new look (instant gratification). We changed our sheets and duvet covers to something with lighter hues to brighten up the home during the gloomy winter days. There are several pillows in our living room and it was time for a change. We spend (and so does our family & friends whenever they are over) most of our time in that room.
We recently walked into H&M and shopped their home section. I remember being amazed by the H&M home section in Spain and I was ecstatic that they were bringing it to the U.S. And it didn’t disappoint. We did not go too crazy, but definitely bought some new pillow covers for our living room. For instance, we got these pink velvet ones for $5 only! Can you believe it?! We were shocked and it was a no-brainer purchase. The fun part is that one side is velvet and the other is linen. Then we got these ones because we love the design on it. It has a basketweave effect to it. Overall, we were impressed with the quality too!
Scotties Facial Tissues
Sounds odd to add tissues as part of refreshing your home, but it’s Winter & cold and people get sick. Almost everyone I know has gotten very very sick, so I know it is spreading! Having Scotties facial tissues accessible around your home is seriously helpful. You will thank yourself for doing this and so will the people who enter your home. Remember, I’m all about functional pieces.
I love getting Scotties facial tissues because not only are they helpful to combat the Winter ailments, but their boxes are decorative. They have several different designs, prints, and patterns. This means that there is a tissue box that can work with any room in your home! I love that because this means I don’t have to sacrifice my home’s aesthetic and style. Plus, have you tried Scotties tissues? They’re so soft! My nose is so grateful for it haha!
So I’ll admit, buying fresh cut flowers is not necessarily functional, but adding life (aside from humans) to your home really brightens up the space. I love getting fresh flowers or some type of fresh greenery (my favorite is eucalyptus). Some have a beautiful scent and help pull the space together. The additional life it adds to your space helps improve your mood. They are also known to help promote relaxation. Now who doesn’t love to be relaxed?!
So who’s ready to refresh your home after the holidays?!
