Essential Garden Tools From Amazon
Before I begin talking about gardening tools, I will admit it feels a bit weird to get back to ‘normal schedule’ after last week. However, I’m still learning, listening, and educating. I still think it is important we continue to have discussions about racism and I do have a couple more posts lined up to talk about it.
One of the hobbies that I never thought I would ever pick up from my parents is gardening. Growing up, gardening was a big part of my life because my parents LOVED it. I told my parents I would never ever get into it. And guess who’s laughing now? My parents. All our family & friends know my parents are big time gardeners. Looking back, I am amazed with our garden growing up. Living in the city, you’d never think having a full, luscious garden was possible. Oh but it is, according to my parents. They would never live in a home unless there was a good sized backyard. Big selling point for them is a place to garden.
We always had the prettiest flowers. Whatever flower you can think of that is livable in Chicago’s hardy zone, we had it. I remember when I was in grade school, in the morning right before I left for school, I would ask my mom to pick some flowers for me. I’d create a bouquet for my teachers. Haha looking back, I’m such a teacher’s pet!
Essential Garden Tools From Amazon
In addition to flowers, my parents were really into growing vegetables. Almost every vegetable I ate as a kid was from our garden. We had the true farm to table experience haha. But of course, we would always have way too much produce. So we always had family and friends just come over and pick their veggies. My parents love gardening so much that they would start in February with the seedlings. My dad would have a makeshift indoor greenhouse in our basement. Then when it came to Springtime, my parents would plant them in the ground.
Even though I don’t have a yard like my parents, Tre & I still love to create our own urban garden on our balcony. Everything is in a pot. However, the type of garden tool you need is the same as if we had a yard. Tre & I are more into flowers. I’m such a big fan of always having fresh cut flowers in the house. So it makes sense that the majority of our garden is cut flowers. We have dahlias, sunny knockout roses, marigolds, hydrangeas, and daylillies.
You don’t need that many garden tools, especially if you are starting out (or have a small outdoor space). However, there are a few garden tools that are essential. For instance, you will need a shovel, garden shears, and gloves. If you want to get started on gardening now, I thought I’d share some essential garden tools from Amazon. However, I’m a sucker for anything cute (and functional of course). Because when something is cute and storage is limited, it all works in the space haha. So here are the cute essential garden tools! Most of these tools are part of Amazon Prime and reasonably priced.
1 3-Piece Floral Garden Tools
This is the first of several 3-piece garden tool sets I will showcase. These 3 tools – especially the shovel and garden shears are a must! They’re heavy duty and made of aluminum with no slip grip. These tools are perfect for digging, weeding, loosening soil, aerating, and transplanting.
2 3-Piece Heavy Duty Garden Tool Set
Here is another heavy duty garden tool set. The functions are the same as noted above (Item 1). This means it’s made to last and it also has a floral print.
3 16-Piece Mini Garden Tool Kit
This garden tool kit has more than what you need and it is great for dealing with mini plants. I especially love the size of the tools because they work great if your pot and plant is small. If you are into succulents, this is perfect for you. However, I like to use these garden tools for our window box planters. I’m able to get into the small crevices.
4 3-Piece Short Handle Tool Set
This set is very similar to the other 3-piece garden tool sets. The only difference is that instead of the floral print going all the way down the handle, the handles are a solid color.
5 Flora Guard Garden Tools
Again, another set very similar to the other garden tool sets. This time it is in a purple floral print. However, it does come in multiple colors. If you don’t like the color purple, they also have this set in a red floral print.
6 12-Piece Garden Tools Set With Garden Kneelers Work Cloth
This 12-piece garden tool set is similar to the above 16-piece set. However, it is obviously not as many tools. All the tools are made for mini plants and gardens. What I love about this set is that it comes with a waterproof cloth. I like to use the cloth when we are changing pots in our balcony. That way I don’t have to worry about the soil dirtying up our balcony and potentially getting through the baseboards and landing on my neighbor’s balcony. This work cloth is also great if you are potting indoors. Less mess!
7 Ruibo Leather Rose Gardening Gloves
I love that these gardening gloves are longer and go up the arms. This is especially great if you are working with shrubs or bushes. For me, I love to wear these types of gloves when dealing with roses. When I am pruning our roses, my arm can easily get scratched by the thorns. So these gloves protect me.
8 Cotton Gardening Potting Gloves
These gloves are perfect for potting herbs and small plants. I think these have my favorite prints on them. Love the botanical prints! They’re one size fits all so that can be a pro or a con.
9 Soft Jersey Garden Gloves
These are made with jersey cotton material and it comes in a pack of 3. This set of gloves is great if you are just starting out or planning on having a small garden. For instance, if you plan on potting a few plants on your balcony.
10 6-Pair Garden Gloves
This set has 6 pairs of garden gloves. According to the description, they’re great for indoor and outdoor planting. The material seems to be similar as the gloves noted above (Item 9). As for sizing, they’re unisex fit so they’re made for men or women.
11 Polyester Performance Garden Gloves
These garden gloves are a matching set with the 3-pc short hand tool set (See Item 4). The fit says one size fits most.
12 Pink Floral Garden Hand Shears
Love the floral print of these garden shears. My current garden shears look very similar to this one! Even if you are not gardening, I highly recommend garden shears if you plan on having fresh cut flowers in your home. They make a cleaner cut when you have to cut the stems. A clean cut is so important when taking care of flowers. Also if you do cut the stems of a flower, always cut at an angle. It helps them absorb the water better.
13 Gold Plated Garden Scissors
I own these type of garden scissors, but mine are not as pretty haha. Mine do not have the gold plated handle. They’re super sharp and multipurpose. They can do a clean cut when cutting, pruning, or deadheading plants. But they are also useful for crafting as well.
14 Garden Bypass Shears
Another pretty floral garden shears!
15 Floral Shears
These floral shears are similar to the gold plated scissors (Item 13), except the ends are rounded not pointy and obviously the handle is pink not gold plated. But don’t be fooled by the rounded ends because they’re just as sharp!
16 Rose Gold Garden Shears
This is for people who love anything rose gold. I mean who doesn’t love rose gold, right?! It has an ergonomic handle if ergonomics is a feature you are looking for.
As you can see I just listed the 16 essential garden tools from Amazon that I think look aesthetically cute and functional. However, I personally think all you really need is a shovel, garden shears, and garden gloves!
Have you been into gardening? If so, what have you planted?

Amazon has everything don’t they?! I am actually not gardening but we planted an avocado seed a couple years ago but we recently found out that it will take awhile before it bears fruit. On a positive note, it is still alive so yay for that! What about you? What’s your favorite thing that you have planted so far?
