Ways To Style A Sweater Dress
Sweater dresses are a classic piece and I love sweater dresses! They’re the best kind of knit dress because they never go out of style and are so timeless. One of my favorite things about them is their versatility. There are so many ways to style, and you can easily dress it up or dress it down. It just requires some tweaks, like throwing on some boots or some sneakers, etc. Plus, they’re so comfy and warm. I’m cold because duh it’s Winter, but dresses are also soooo comfortable to wear with a growing bump.
All I’ve been wearing during my pregnancy during the Winter (aside from maternity overalls – because I also wear those a lot haha) are sweater dresses. So, I’m going to share with you all 3 ways to style a sweater dress.
3 Way To Style A Sweater Dress
I’ve learned to get really creative with how to wear a sweater dress and here are my tips.
Wear A Headband
The easiest way to style a sweater dress is accessorizing it with a headband. Headbands can already give that fashion forward look to an outfit without much effort.
Add A Pair Of Boots
Who doesn’t love a good pair of boots? Either wear a sweater with ankle booties or some knee high boots. Just add a pair of boots to make it cold-weather appropriate.
Accessorize With A Belt
Something as easy as wearing a belt around the waist easily transforms your sweater dress into a completely different look.
Wear With A Skirt
How about giving the illusion that your sweater dress is just a sweater? I love to wear a skirt over my sweater dress. The best part is that it gives you an extra layer of warmth and a good excuse to wear a skirt during Winter.
Layer With A Wool Coat
Love to layer? Just add a really nice coat. Coats are the best way to elevate your outfit.
Wear A Jean Jacket
Maybe it’s in-between weather and you want to dress it down. All you have to do is pair it with a jean jacket. You can’t go wrong with a classic jean jacket.
Pair With White Sneakers
White sneakers are so versatile. If you want to have a casual outfit, pairing it with white sneakers is a great way to keep it classy and casual. I know once the baby is born, I’ll be wearing my white sneakers more often.
Sweater Dress Outfit Ideas
Here are some sweater dress outfits that I’ve worn.
Classic Sweater Dress Outfit
I usually love to wear my sweater dresses as is. So I quickly accessorize by wearing a twist knot headband. Super easy to do and definitely a cost-effective addition to the outfit.

Sweater Dress & Skirt Combo
This is one of my favorite ways to style a sweater dress and it is to style it with a skirt. I love it because it gives the sweater dress another purpose and adds an extra layer of warmth and makes it possible to wear a skirt during Winter. The key is to make sure the skirt is longer than the sweater so that you don’t see it peeking through.

Accessorize With A Belt
Accessorizing with a belt is another easy and effective way to transform your sweater dress. Usually sweater dresses have a boxier fit, especially if you get the chunky knit ones. So to give your dress a bit more shape, Just add a belt around the waistline. Obviously, I’m pregnant in this outfit so I wore the belt above my bump.

My Sweater Midi Dress
I have pretty much worn the same dress in all of these sweater dress outfits. This is by far my favorite because I love the length, the fit, and how bump-friendly it is. Seriously, if you are expecting, this dress is amazing. Plus, you’ll know you can wear it after the baby is born.
It does run large, so I sized down. Normally, I wear a size small and I sized down to an XS. It still has a loose-fit to it with an XS, but it doesn’t look sloppy if that makes sense. I’m wearing it in the Stone Shell color. It also comes in several other colors which I plan on purchasing haha. That’s how much I love it!
