RD’s Obsessions is a Chicago-based fashion & lifestyle blog where I share my latest obsessions. It is a source of inspiration not only for my latest fashion outfit posts but is also a place for strength & confidence for young women, especially for those who are battling and survived cancer. I strongly believe confidence is the key to beauty. I hope that my passion for fashion helps women realize that they can feel beautiful by creating their own style and owning it.
ABOUT ME
Hello! I’m Rach DiMare, and I am the girl behind RD’s Obsessions. Ever since I was a little girl, I had a love for creating outfits. Coming from a very large extended family (40 first cousins!), I always saw family parties as an opportunity to create and showcase my favorite fashion trends & outfits and I quickly became the family’s go-to fashionista.
Fast forward to 2014, my husband (then boyfriend) brought up the topic of starting a fashion blog. Working as a data analyst, I was hesitant at first but I knew I was lacking creativity in my daily life outside of analyzing big data trends. I noticed I was always finding ways to share my favorite outfits (AKA taking mirror selfies and sharing them with family & friends). Before I knew it, we bought our first DSLR camera, purchased a new laptop, and my husband signed up to be my personal photographer.
Early 2016, six months into our marriage, I was diagnosed with breast cancer – an unexpected and unfortunate surprise. I spent most of that year in hospitals for surgeries & rounds of chemotherapy. I lost my hair and the body changes from the treatments made me feel not beautiful. However, one thing kept me going and that was my strong belief in positivity and knowing that life only gives you challenges you can handle. So I knew I could beat cancer like A BOSS and wanted to share my journey with the hope that it would inspire others.
RD’s Obsessions gave me the boost I needed to feel like myself again. When my energy was at its lowest during chemo, this blog gave me a reason to go outside. Even if it could only be for a short while, it always translated into good energy. Putting on my wig, outfits, and doing my makeup helped me feel and look like myself again. It gave me confidence.
I am on the road to recovery and my goal throughout this journey is to bring awareness to the challenges young survivors face day in and day out.
My style is constantly evolving and evolves based on my lifestyle and mood. I believe that fashion does not have to be stagnant. It is all about finding pieces that work for you and make you feel good. Just because something is trendy, does not always mean it is for you. If you feel good, you should wear it. As a girl on a budget, I like to wear pieces that are affordable as well as some that are good investments. Therefore, you will find me wearing high and low fashion. Typically if I find a classic & timeless piece, I might invest more in it since I know it will be something I will wear for long time. Majority of the time though, most of my outfits are budget-friendly. One thing that stays constant, I have confidence and that translates into a positive outlook. I hope you all find your confidence & beauty through my obsessions – RD’s Obsessions.
