12 Useful Work From Home Essentials

I’m so glad to hear that you so many of you find my work from home tips on being productive so useful. I honestly believe that working from home will be something we all will have to get used to for a bit. And I bet some of your jobs are considering the flexibility of working from home when the coronavirus pandemic settles. From my experience, that’s what happened to my previous job. At first, work from home was a luxury, and it had to be scheduled as you would when you want to schedule a PTO.

If you were in Chicago you might remember this. About 8 years-ish ago (honestly can’t remember the exact year), Chicago hosted the G8 Summit. The G8 Summit gathered all world leaders together and figure out a solution / agreement on world issues (i.e. presidents, prime ministers, etc). For the safety of Chicago citizens, most downtown offices worked from home (including mine). It happened for a few days and the company I worked for realize we can just be as efficient no matter where we worked. And then going forward, we were able to work from home as often as we pleased.

Ok, I’m done rambling. But basically working from home has some challenges. The best way to get through with it is making sure you have the appropriate work from home essentials. While I love aesthetically pleasing items, I made sure that they are functional. So hopefully all the items I suggested is both cute and reliable. I swear by most of these items. They have helped me out and I tried to find the most cost effective options.

12 Useful Work From Home Essentials

1 Parsons Desk

I’ve had this desk for over 7 years now! It’s currently in our guest room and my husband uses it now. It’s durable, has a little compartment for storage, and under $100. There are several other colors to choose from.

2 Acrylic Desk Accessories

Love the rose gold details! This set comes with a stapler, tape dispenser, staples, staple remover, and binder clips.

3 Adjustable Phone / Tablet Stand

This stand allows you to be hands free from your phone (or tablet). I especially love it when I have to FaceTime my family or have to film something. The stand also comes in silver, black, and red.

4 Desk Lamp

I think this one is pretty obvious why it is essentials. I love this desk lamp because of its simple and minimalist style. Plus, it’s only $25!

5 Monitor Stand Riser

Having the monitor slightly elevated makes all the difference! You don’t have to hunch your back to look at the screen and the camera alignment for zoom videos will be a lot better. You can adjust this stand riser’s width.

6 Lap Desk

Sometimes we just want to work in our bed or sofa. At least I know I do haha. I love this lap desk because it helps keep my laptop steady and has room for the mouse and compartment for my phone.

7 File Folders 

If you need a way to organize some papers and note, I love using file folders. I love this set because it has a clean & aesthetically pleasing design.

8 Cane Chair

If you are looking for a new desk chair. Lately, I’ve been really into the cane style. Honestly, considering replacing our dining chair with these. Another great option are these velvet chairs – they’re so affordable and chic!

9 Weekly Planner Desk Pad

Lately, I have been loving the weekly planner. It just makes it easier to visibly see my to-do list throughout the day and so much room to write versus a standard planner. This always sits on my desk.

10 Surge Protector Strip / Extension Cord

If you need more outlets, this surge protector strip will be a great addition!

11 Dresser Storage Tower

Here is a great affordable storage for you to store all your work from home essentials. It fits perfectly under the desk.

12 Acrylic File Box Set

Need a spot to place all your file folders? I love this acrylic file box because it doesn’t look industrial and looks great on top of the desk.

13 Inspirational Pen Set

I actually got these pens as a gift and I love them. They write very well and the quirky inspirational quotes are motivating.

14 Corkcicle Coffee Mug

15 Rectangular Desk

Here is another great and affordable desk option. Also, this desk can also be used as a dining table.

    I always need more outlets, especially now that I work fulltime from home. I also need a a weekly planner, I use my notebook on laptop. Great list !!!

    Love all of these, Rach!! I am adding the desk to my Amazon wish list right now. I’ve been putting off buying a desk because most of them are uber expensive and have just been using my kitchen table. Love the simplicity of the desk and it’s price tag! 🙂
