How To Style Maternity Overalls
It’s pretty obvious that I love wearing maternity overalls during my pregnancy. It is my most worn maternity clothing item and I pretty much wear it everyday haha. I think it is more prominent that you see me wearing them on Instagram and on the Liketoknow.it app. They’re surprisingly comfortable to wear especially with my growing belly, which I did not expect. I initially bought a pair of maternity overalls because they looked cute. I had no idea that I would be wearing them all the time.
Tre thinks I love wearing maternity overalls so much because of how they’re made. They cradle the bump perfectly and give the bump some belly support. After he said that, I think he’s right and I prefer wearing them over my maternity leggings. A good pair of overalls will be flattering and they can accommodate the constantly growing belly.
Maternity overalls are also great because they’re so versatile. I’m able to style them in several different ways. They’re so effortless and I can easily look well put-together. As I move further along in my pregnancy the fatigue has gotten stronger and effortless is key. Certain maternity overalls are made so that they’re great to wear after giving birth and are nursing-friendly. I’ll point out which of my overalls are great for postpartum.
The key features of maternity overalls are the adjustable straps to accommodate different heights, side panels for the growing bump, and stretchy fabric (my denim overalls are soft with the perfect amount of stretch). All these different features make it the go-to outfit for pregnant moms.
How To Style Maternity Overalls
Here are some quick tips on how to style maternity overalls.
Wear your pre-pregnancy size.
Whatever your size was before you were pregnant, that is the recommended size you should buy. That way it can accommodate you from your first trimester until after birth.
Keep It Simple
You don’t need to go crazy with the type of top to wear. Just keep it simple. I usually just like to wear them with a classic fitted long-sleeve top. The best part is that you are able to get away with wearing non-maternity tops longer when wearing maternity overalls.
Wear A Variety Of Styles
I own at least 4 different maternity overalls (told you I’m obsessed haha). That way I don’t get bored wearing them and I am not losing that comfort.
Maternity Outfit Ideas
I have A LOT of maternity overalls outfits to share because like I said, I pretty much wear them every day. My most worn pair of overalls are these denim ones from Mango. I have them in your standard denim wash color and in black denim color. I didn’t start wearing them until my second trimester when I started to “pop” which was around 18 weeks.
Sizing Details For All The Overalls
All the overalls I am featuring fit true to size. When I mention ‘true to size’ this means to select your pre-pregnancy size. The only caveat is that the Mango denim overalls (the ones I mentioned above), you will need to size up if you have a booty / bubble butt. For me, I have a bubble butt (not big just very round haha), so I sized up to a medium.
Relaxed Outfit
This look is something very casual and great for Spring and Fall. I’d probably pair these with white sneakers or these white slip-on sneakers.

Striped Sweater Outfit
Here is another great striped outfit. This time it is with a sweater so it is great for colder temperatures. In most of the outfits in this post, my hair is down. But thought I’d share that you can quickly change up the look by changing your hair style as well.

Corduroy Outfit
I’m a fan of wearing corduroy so I was glad to come across wide-leg corduroy overalls. I will say that these overalls are great up until I was 32 weeks-ish? It could be just the size of my bump because as I progressed it got more round and looked like a basketball was stuffed under my shirt haha.

Holiday Outfit
I repurposed the corduroy overalls and wore them during the holidays. All I had to do was wear some boots and some holiday colors and it worked out great!

Beyond Maternity Outfit
I call these multi-purpose overalls because they are designed to be worn throughout pregnancy and should also work postpartum and beyond. They are lightweight overalls so they are more geared towards Spring / Summer. Without a doubt, you will see me wearing these after the baby is born. If it works out, I would love to get the black pair too!

Knot Headband Outfit
Adding a headband is another great way to switch up the look of the maternity overalls outfit. Depending on my mood and season, I match the headband to that.

Turtleneck Or Blouse
I’ve styled this type of overalls either with a turtleneck or a floral top. No matter what you wear it with, it all works out! If you want something very simple, I’ve styled it with a classic maternity white tee from A Pea In The Pod. That tee is so comfortable!

Again, here is another use of wearing florals with the denim wash overalls. Depending on the shoes you select, it can look casual or dressy casual.

Winter Style Outfit
As you can see in these photos, there is some holiday decor in the backdrop haha. This look is great during the Winter. The adjustable side panels make it possible to wear a chunky sweater with the overalls.

Haha I know this was a lot and I could have shared more. Like I said, I pretty much wore overalls every day as they are my all time favorite maternity clothing. They work well with the growing belly, are so stylish and chic, and are comfortable. Highly recommend to all the expecting mamas to get a pair of maternity overalls.
