Before I begin this post, I want to THANK YOU ALL so much for your kind words and support about Thursday’s post. That means the world to me!! I am so grateful to have such amazing support!
The Winter Blues
Can you believe we are a couple days away from February? 2018 is already off to a fast start! Although it is going by fast, I will admit I am impatient about Winter. I have major winter blues and I can’t wait for Spring! I am so sick of wearing winter clothes, and I want to be able to wear Spring clothes. I’m ready for florals, light colors, longer days, and cute midi dresses!
To get over my gloominess about Winter, there are some things I do that makes my Winter days easier.
How to Get Over the Winter Blues
Go Outside
I’m sure this sounds odd because it is Winter and the temperature is cold. But feeling the fresh air and sun helps me feel rejuvenated. I get a little cabin fever staying indoors too long, so stepping outside mid-day helps me get some pep in my step. It doesn’t have to be long. I usually aim to go to a coffee shop close by.
Workout
Working out releases endorphins and those endorphins can give you a natural high and help you feel better. And it is true, after I workout, I already start to feel better whether it is about my day or myself. So if fitness is your 2018 goal, now is the time to start. No need to be overly ambitious, but just get out and go. Maybe try a new workout class!
Self-Care
Winter is a perfect time to do you! Self-care can do so many amazing, positive things for you like I mentioned in my last post. Self-care has helped me navigate through anxiety. Taking care of yourself is so important. Take advantage of this time! Want to get that hour long massage, go for it!
Connect with People
You know those friends or family that you always say you need to meet up with? Do it! Spend time with them and enjoy catching up. Either go to one another’s place or make it fun by trying out a new restaurant. Everything in Winter seems to slow down, so take advantage and spend time with family and friends before your schedule gets crazy again.
Find A New Hobby
If there is something you always wanted to try, now is the time. That’s how I started my blog. It was in the middle of Winter and I just wanted to do something. Same goes for how I got into calligraphy, hand lettering, and painting. And they all happened to be very therapeutic too.
Plan A Getaway
Having something to look forward to, like going on a quick getaway or vacation, is exciting! Doesn’t have to happen in Winter, but planning it and knowing something awesome is coming up helps with my mood. My husband and I started planning our vacations for the rest of the year and it was fun!
I hope you guys find this post helpful and hopefully you can get over the Winter blues! And if you have any additional tips on getting over the Winter blues, please do share! Have a wonderful Monday!

I’m totally with you. So ready for spring, even though I really like winter fashion. I’ve been working out and doing more with self care as well, but I think I need to find a new hobby.
I love that you’ve been doing that! I hope it has been helping!
Blue is my favourite colour but I don’t like the winter blues! haha. However, sometimes if you can’t get rid of them, you just embrace it right? You look beautiful dear!

Connecting with people has really been helping me get away from any winter blues! I try to schedule at least 2-3 coffee dates each week that get me out of my home office and into a cheery, human-filled environment! It’s great to hear all your other ideas as well! Here’s to a very non-gloomy winter!
That is so smart! I love the coffee date idea!
I live in Charleston (where it isn’t too too cold) and I am so over winter. Excited for my beach getaway in March! xo
I am jealous you live in Charleston!
I totally agree about getting outdoors. You need that little jolt of sunshine and the fresh air always helps me sleep better, making my mornings the next day that much better. I do like to cheat a little during the winter and head somewhere warm for a few days. Next up, Bahamas in a few weeks. Can’t wait! xx Rox-Anne Celebrating This Life
Omg Bahamas sounds amazing right now!
