What to wear with green pants
Wide-Leg Green Pants: Everlane
Sweater: H&M
Boots: Marc Fisher, also here
Trench Coat: Amazon The Drop
What are your thoughts about wearing green pants? Do you wear them often? Avoid them? Even saying green pants out loud sounds like it’s not an appealing pair of pants to wear. However, put one on and they’re in fact very versatile to wear. They’re the type of pants that are often overlooked but in fact they are a great alternative to wearing your classic blue denim jeans. They can be worn as a casual outfit or can be dressed up or can be an incredible work appropriate outfit. The options are endless. Plus, there are so many different options of fabrics that every green pants have a different look and feel to them.
I will be sharing tips on what clothes and colors look good with green pants. You’ll be surprised at all the options and how it is comparable to wearing a pair of blue jeans. Of course, there are some fashion no’s, and I will also share what not to wear as well.
What To Wear With Green Pants
Below are tops that will look great with green pants. One thing to keep in mind is that the top should either be lighter or darker to create a good contrast against the green color. There are so many different shades of green that you have to be mindful of that. Green trousers can range from forest green to mint green to olive green.
Just remember to avoid choosing a red top. Red should not be paired with green pants because the red and green combination is always associated with Christmas. Unless it is the holiday season and you’re going for a holiday outfit, that is a big no-no.
Sweater
It’s cooler out, why not pair it with a sweater? That’s what I did in these outfit photos. Have fun with it and find a puffed sleeve sweater, chunky knit sweater, or cardigan style sweater.
Lace Tops
Want to give your green pants a feminine style? Go for lace. I own a white lace top that’ll look great with any shade of green pants. It has puffed sleeves and a mock neckline. They come in several colors like white, dark blue, and blush.
Silk Tops
Everlane has the best silk tops! They come in so many different styles & colors.
Blazers
One of my favorite layering pieces to pair with green pants are blazers. I especially love it when the blazers have prints on them.
Classic Coats
Not going to lie, I do associate the color green with Spring. So I immediately think of trench coats. It is a classic combo. However, if it is really cold out, I definitely recommend a camel colored coat. No matter what shade of green, it will always pair well.
Romantic Tops
Have fun with your pants by wearing a romantic style top. They usually have bright colors and it livens up the outfit.
Basic Tops
Why not keep it classic by just pairing it with a basic tee. Any of the colors I mention next will be a great option for a basic tee. I naturally grab a classic white t-shirt.
Colors That Go Well With Green Pants
- Creams & Whites
- Neutral Colors like Beige and Camel
- Dark Colors like Black & Navy
- Mustard Yellow
- Blush Pink
- Printed Tops (no reds)
Details About My Outfit
My go-to is olive green pants or dark green pants. My pants are from Everlane and they’re the wide-leg crop chino. They’re the lightweight version of my other Everlane wide-leg crop pants. My height is 5’4″ and it does fit cropped style on me (just above the ankles). In my opinion, they fit true to size. I’m wearing a size 4 and that is my usual size. These pants are also high waisted. High waisted pants are a must for me!
I paired it with a creamy white long sleeve sweater. This sweater has a subtle puff sleeve to it which I love and it happens to be sustainable. It falls under the H&M sustainable collection. And now as I type it out, I realized that my outfit is sustainable. How cool is that! The sweater also fits true to size (wearing a small) and comes in several colors. I also have it in black. It feels soft and not scratchy at all for an affordable sweater.
15 Amazing Green Pants
As I mentioned earlier, there are so many different styles of green pants out there. So I’m sharing 15 that I’m currently loving. There is a good mixture of casual and dress pants. That way you have options depending on what you are looking for!
