You know me, if I will always find a way to wear dresses and skirts all year round. Today, I’m sharing my tips on how to style a skirt for fall. No need to stash them away. They’re definitely wearable and versatile for the Fall weather. Most of the styling tips I am sharing, you probably already have them in your closet. So this is a win win!
How To Style A Skirt For Fall
Wear Fall colors – Dark or Deep Colors
I highly recommend avoiding any bright and pastel colors. They tend to look to summery or spring. I recommend wearing brown, beige, black, tan, burgundy, olive green, and navy. Any deep, dark, or neutral colors will work for Fall.
Wear A Chunky Knit Sweater
Who doesn’t love a good chunky knit sweater. Did you know they look AMAZING with skirts.
Pro Tip: To avoid that bulgey look when you tuck your sweater into skirt, my tip is not to tuck it in. To achieve that “tucked-in” look, grab your skinniest belt and wrap it around your waist. Make sure the belt is over your sweater. Then slowly start pulling out the sweater until you have achieved your desired tucked-in look. I do this all the type.
Wear A Turtleneck
Turtlenecks are a great way to add warmth to skirt. I always love a good cashmere turtleneck. It’s so simple but adds a level of luxurious, chic, and sophistication to your outfit.
Choose Closed Toe Shoes
This is the time to stash away any open-toe shoes. So you definitely want to avoid any sandals, peep-toe heels, or heeled sandals. In my opinion, any pointed-toe shoes look great. Pointed-toe slingback flats are my favorite type of shoes to wear. But any type of shoes will do as long as those toes are covered.
Wear Ankle Boots Or Tall Boots
For even colder temperatures, pair your skirt with ankle boots or tall boots. They’ll definitely keep your feet and legs warm. Plus, they look incredible with skirts!
Want another layer of warmth? Just wear tights. If you don’t want it to be obvious you are wearing tights, just wear the nude ones. Or some people love to match their tights to the color of their skirt. I also love a good sweater tights.
Fall is all about layering. So don’t be afraid to layering outfit. The easiest way to layer is just pairing it with a coat. On cold days, I love to wear a good plaid wool coat if the rest of outfit is in solid colors. Or you can simply go with a solid color wool coat. But a suede or faux leather jacket looks amazing too. Even a chunky knit cardigan.

Here are some great skirt options that I believe are perfect for Fall! I always love a good slip skirt, a sweater skirt, pleated skirt, or even a faux leather skirt. Hopefully, you’ll love the options I have selected.
