5 Amazon Dresses Under $20

Since my Amazon pleated skirts were a success, I decided to start looking for Amazon dresses. To my luck, I found several cute dresses under $20! However, I did notice that the prices do fluctuate and sometimes the dresses can go as high as $26.99. Which is still relatively affordable!

Most of the dresses I found were either maxi or midi style. For sizing reference, I’m 5’4″ and usually wear a size small or size 4 (either in dress or bottoms). I’m around 140 pounds and my bust is 32C.

Also, a lot of these dresses showed up wrinkly or with creases from the folds. I highly recommend that as soon as you get it, to hang them so the wrinkles release. I hung them in the bathroom so that the steam from my showers will help release them and used a steamer for the stubborn wrinkles.

What Else I Wore

Whenever I do try-on sessions, I definitely like to keep other clothing items consistent. Maybe it is just me, but I feel like it makes it an easier comparison? I wore the Dolce Vita Ezra Mule. Love the woven style! It gives it a more Spring/Summer feel to the outfit. I think they’re comfortable and I got my true shoe size (7.5). If you do have wider feet, I recommend going half a size up.

Backless Ruffled Long Dress

SIZING: Fits True to Size. I got a size small. If an XS was an option, I’d probably choose that too.

REVIEW: The fabric is very light. It is definitely made for warm temperatures. If you plan on getting the white one, I think it will be see-through. So I recommend getting this dress in any color except white. The low back will show the back bra strap, so I recommend wearing no bra. I like to use these bra petals. Sleeves tend to fall off my shoulders, hence I would like an XS. But a little fashion tape helped a lot.

I love the color. The photo didn’t translate the color very well. It is more of a coral color. When I first got the dress, the ruffles on the sleeves were overwhelming, but after steaming it, it calmed down and looked more appropriate.

VERDICT: Keeping it.

Sleeveless Swing Midi Dress

SIZING: Sized Up. I wore a medium.

REVIEW: I love the simplicity of this dress. Again, this dress is super lightweight. It’s the perfect “throw on dress” during the Summer. It came with a tie waist, but there are no loops to keep it on the dress. Personally, I liked it without the tie waist. It gives a more minimalistic and Madewell style to it. I’m glad I sized up because the waist would have felt tight if I bought my true size.

VERDICT: Kept it. I wore it in Florida as a beach dress.

Waist Tie Up Midi Dress

SIZING: True to size unless you are very busty. I would not mind sizing up to medium because I’d like the top to be looser.

REVIEW: Love this dress A LOT! I think it has the prettiest shade of yellow (mustard yellow) that will look great on any skin color. I already shared this on Instagram when I was in Florida, and received several compliments on it. The tie-waist is kind of useless. It doesn’t do a good job staying tight after you tighten it up. So if you wanted this dress to cinch more, unfortunately, you will not get that. Also, the chest area was not as loose fitting as I thought it would be. It still fits fine (there’s elastic in the back), however, if I was bustier, I would need to size up. So if your chest is larger than mine (32C), for sure size up.

VERDICT: For sure kept it!

Linen Ruffle Cap Sleeve Long Dress

SIZING: Fits true to size. I’m wearing a small.

REVIEW: Super cute dress. Fabric is thicker than I expected but still feels good quality. This dress looks similar to my Free People Butterfly Dress (see other color options here). The difference is that this dress has a larger ruffle on the sleeve and the fabric is not as soft as Free People’s dress. I love the length and love that it has pockets!

VERDICT: I am keeping it.

Polka Dot Tie Front Swing Dress

SIZING: Fits true to size. I’m wearing a small.

REVIEW: Another great super lightweight dress. A lot of the reviews claim that the sleeves are not belled, but my dress for sure has bell sleeves and looks exactly like in the photo. The dress is not that flattering for my figure, but it makes a great swimsuit/beach coverup dress. Which is why I am keeping it. It is also another great just “throw on” dress.

VERDICT: I kept it.

What Should I Do Next?

Overall, I kept all of these Amazon dresses. I’m a sucker for dresses which is why I live for Spring and Summer haha. The shopping experience was super easy, unlike shopping for the Amazon sweaters. I will definitely be shopping more for dresses on Amazon.
