I have to talk about this mock neck sweater dress because it is one of those non-maternity dresses that is bump-friendly. A comfortable bump-friendly outfit is the best because I know that I can wear this after the baby is born.
The first time I shared this dress was in my Instagram Story. Lately, I’ve been sharing a lot of things I’ve been really into in my Stories and many of you wanted me to continue to share non-maternity yet bump friendly clothes.
What I love about this dress is that you can easily wear it as a holiday outfit, christmas outfit, or a dressy Winter outfit. The burgundy (or on the site it is called ‘Oxblood’ color) color is what makes it versatile to wear it for Winter or during the holidays. That way you are not limited at all!
Mock Neck Sweater Dress
So ta-da here is this mock-neck sweater dress! This is totally something I would wear even if I wasn’t pregnant. I was 25 weeks pregnant in these photos.
I found this dress on Amazon from their Amazon Drop collection. Amazon can be a confusing place to purchase clothes. But as you know in the past, I always share what I truly think is a good purchase. In the past I’ve shared Amazon Sweaters, Amazon Skirts, Amazon Coats, Amazon Workout Leggings, etc.
The rule of thumb with Amazon Fashion is purchase from their private fashion label. The Drop is one of the Amazon private fashion labels. You can always count on the quality, price, and style.
This sweater dress fits true to size. So whatever you usually wear will most likely work. My pre-pregnancy size is a size small in dresses and that’s what I’m currently wearing. The fabric of the dress is able to contour to your body. So even before I was showing, the dress was also just as flattering.
If you are curious what I mean by true to size, I’ll share with you my pre-pregnancy size. I would give you my size now, but it fluctuates so much and is constantly changing that I don’t think it would be a good reference point for you.
Before I was pregnant, I used to weigh 140 lbs and I’m 5’4″ tall. I have a straight and petite body type. My chest size is 32C and my waist size is 27. Therefore, in dresses I usually wear a size small or size 4. In pants, jean, and skirts, I’m wearing a small, size 4, or size 27. For tops, I would wear a size small or size 4. Hopefully this helps!
The quality of this mock neck sweater dress is very good! It feels like it’s from a luxury brand. So for $45, you are definitely getting your money’s worth and more. The sweater dress is made with a soft viscose blend and it has some thickness to it. There’s a decent amount of stretch to the fabric but it doesn’t get stretched out. It is able to keep its structure throughout the day.
Keep Style Simple
You really don’t need to do much to the dress. The deep color and the gold accents make it a stand out dress. So when I was putting this outfit together, I rarely did anything to it. I wanted the dress to stand out.
Accessories That Go Well With A Mock Neck Dress
But as you can see, I still accessorize and my focus is to make this dress stand out even more.
Layer the dress with a wool coat. I went for the Meghan Markle vibe and paired it with a burgundy wool coat. To be honest, I had no idea I was going for the Meghan Markle look until I saw a photo of her in a burgundy outfit. I really just wanted to create a monochromatic look.
My burgundy coat is old. However, I did find other similar ones that are currently available.
Gold Barrette / Gold Hair Pin
Wearing a gold hair pin or gold barrette is such a subtle yet fun way to accessorize and change the hair style. I actually purchased this barrette when we were in Montreal. However, Anthropologie has a few that are super cute and has that French vibe to it too.
