I’ve talked about the polka dot trend in the Spring, and I honestly think it is still going strong in the Summer. There are tons of gorgeous polka dot pieces out there and I knew I wanted to take this fun print with me to Spain & Portugal.
One day on my way home I had time to kill, and there happened to be a Forever 21. It had been ages since I stopped in that store and I figured why not. I had no intention of buying anything, nor did I expect I would want anything.
The Polka Dot Maxi Dress
Of course, since I am loving polka dots, my eyes immediately gravitated toward this polka dot maxi dress. I love the burnt auburn color, and I always love the maxi length. So I told myself, ok let’s try it out. Of course, I should have known this was dangerous because the moment I put it on, I loved it. I told myself, this would look amazing in Madrid. And this is why you are seeing me in this dress at several popular Madrid sites.
The dress fits true to size. I am wearing a small and it fits comfortably. It does have a deep V-neck neckline, but it is done in a way that still looks classy. The polka dot maxi dress has ties on the shoulder which you can adjust. The tighter the ties, the less of a low-cut (although it will still be low-cut regardless, just not as low).
If You’re Not Into Low-Cut
I also think because of the low neckline, it is the perfect opportunity to have fun with bralettes. In my opinion, Free People has some of the best bralettes. My favorite is the FP One Adella Bralette. It seriously looks great with any outfit and comes in several colors! With this bralette, you can maintain that sexy low cut look without wearing too low of a neckline. The reversible bandeau one is another great option with multiple colors to choose from. If lace is not your thing, this strapped brami is super cute!
Oh, and you want to know what else made me want to buy this polka dot maxi dress (haha I just laughed at myself as if someone was forcing me to buy this dress) was the price. It is only $16.99. What a steal right?! I don’t know how often I will shop at Forever 21, but it was fun stopping in that day and going forward I may want to pop in here and there.
What about you guys? Do you shop at Forever 21? Am I missing out by not going there as often? I am intrigued by how affordable it is there!
These photos were taken at 3 different spots. Our second day in Madrid was full of site seeing major tourist spots. They were taken at a random street when heading towards the Royal Palace and Santa Maria Cathedral. Since we went mid-May, the morning was cooler, hence why I layered with a denim jacket. As the day progressed, it started to get warmer and warmer. And based on the photos, you can tell the heat progression… I removed the jean jacket… and eventually I put my hair in a bun haha!
