Lately, I’ve been really into house dresses. Do you know what that is? A house dress is a type of simple dress that is worn informally at home either in the morning, evening, or throughout the day. They are a very comfortable dress, and you can do household chores or quick errands in them. The word ‘house dress’ or some may even call it ‘morning dress’ originated in the 19th century so that they are designed for maximum practicality. So who doesn’t love an easy, comfortable, and practical dress?!

Now that the temperatures are dropping and it is still uncertain on the coronavirus pandemic, I’m assuming we will spend more time at home. Especially with how things are going with me, I need comfortable clothing and the only thing comfortable to wear is a dress.

Below, I’m sharing my different Garnet Hill dresses. I’ll share sizing, fit, and tips with each dress.

Size Reference

As always, I share my size so that when I mention terms like ‘true to size’, you have a general idea as to what I’m talking about.

I’m 5’4″ tall, weigh 140 lbs, and my chest is 32C. I have what some say is a straight body type. When I wear dresses and tops, I usually wear a size small or size 4. When it comes to jeans, bottoms, and skirts, I usually wear a size 27, size 4, or size small.

Ballet Wrap Knit Midi Dress

Sizing: Fits true to size. I’m wearing a size small. My dress is in the color Olive Petite Floral.

This style of dress is a faux-wrap dress which I personally think is a great feature. That way you don’t have to worry about the wrap-style getting undone. This dress hugs you in all the right places and is so flattering! It gracefully moves with your body. It’s a midi length dress made with a TENCELL™ Lyocell fabric. This type of fabric is so buttery soft!

Recycled-Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater Dress

Sizing: Fits true to size. I’m wearing a size small. My dress is in the color Cider.

Who doesn’t love a sweater dress for Fall or Winter especially in cashmere. It’s always a must on my list! I always tell people that everyone must own at least one cashmere item in their closet. What I love about this particular cashmere is that it is recycled cashmere. Garnet Hill used remnants reclaimed during new garment production.

As I mentioned earlier, Garnet Hill’s house dresses can easily be transformed from indoors to outdoors, and here’s an example of that (see above). I recently wore this cashmere sweater over the weekend, and all I did was wear it with suede tall boots and a wool coat over it. So easy!

Beateau-Neck Knit Midi Dress

This dress has pockets!!!! I had to say it because I know I’m not the only one that gets excited every time I come across a dress with pockets. The photo doesn’t justify how amazing it is in real life. The elastic waist creates a fun and trendy silhouette. It almost creates an illusion like I’m wearing a sweater and a skirt together. I always love that. So the top half of the dress has a drapey fit with a boatneck. It’s also buttery soft because it is made with the TENCELL™ Lyocell fabric.

So be prepared to be seeing me wearing these dresses all Fall and Winter. I just love how stylish they are yet so practical and comfortable. Which dress is your favorite?
