Nothing to Wear
I’ll be honest, I am running out of cute winter outfit ideas. Every time I look at my closet, it seems like I have nothing to wear. After being sick last week, I’m just soooo over Winter. I’ve been trying really hard to incorporate beating the winter blues, but when you’re sick man it is really hard. The blues get you pretty bad. I think a lot has to do with me wanting to wear Spring clothes so badly.
I’m usually a planner and I usually already know what outfits I want to shoot and you know what happened half an hour before Heidi came over? I just threw together a Winter outfit. I wanted a Winter outfit and these photos are what I came up with. But after looking at these photos, it turned out okay. My room wasn’t okay because I had piles of clothes thrown everywhere, but I’m pretty proud of myself that I put together an outfit. So I’ll share what was going through my mind when trying to come up with an outfit when I had nothing to wear.
What to Wear When You Have Nothing to Wear
1. Grab a favorite accessory. Something that is currently trending.
In this case, I grabbed my beret. I’ve only worn this beret once on the blog and I wanted an opportunity to wear it again.
2. Grab another accessory. Maybe one you haven’t worn in awhile.
This accessory should match (or pair) well with the first accessory. I’ve had this plaid scarf for a long time and I just love how it looks. But it had been sitting in my closet so I figured why not wear it now.
3. Select Footwear.
I knew I wanted to be comfortable and weather appropriate. These Rockport booties are soooo comfortable and I liked that they were neutral. I can wear them with almost any outfit.
4. Wear Jeans.
Jeans are universal. When I have nothing to wear, I just throw on a pair of jeans. I am a big fan of button fly jeans because they just elevate your average jeans. The buttons give it a chic detail.
5. Wear a Basic Top.
You can’t go wrong with a basic, neutral top. Since I felt like my accessories in this outfit were bold, I decided to go classic with my top.
So there ya go. This is exactly what was going through my head as I was trying to pick out this outfit (and in this exact order too). I might give this method another try as I try to pack for New York Fashion Week! I still don’t know what to bring!
Do you guys have a method when you have nothing to wear?

I know right?!
When I have nothing to wear sometimes I’ll look at my old blog posts from maybe a year, or two or three ago, because if you can get inspired by pieces that you know are in your closet, then you already know they will work.
But I’m definitely over winter, and days so cold that even a bare ankle seems unthinkable.

That is a good idea! I also agree with you that winter just needs to be over!

Thank you Laura Leigh! Haha glad I’m not the alone in this!
I’m having the same problem but for the opposite reason… I bought all of these super cute winter clothes, but living in Florida, it doesn’t want to stay cold enough to wear many of them, so here I am, nothing to wear…. Love the styling btw.
