His & Hers ECCO Shoes Review For the Fall
Photography by Rachel Bires
Notice anything different in this post?! Haha that is right, Tre is in it. If you are new here, Tre is my husband and he takes most of my blog photos. Obviously, for this post he was not able to but my good friend Rachel Bires was kind enough to do them for us. She’s a photographer and a traveler and her Instagram always gives me major inspos. She also shares the coolest spots in Chicago!
Tre & I had the opportunity to try out ECCO‘s Fall collection shoes. Initially, they reached out for a sponsored Instagram post. However, I wanted to be able to give you all a thorough ECCO shoes review (this blog post is not sponsored). If you know me and if you ask for my review, I will definitely give my honest thoughts.
We ordered our pairs of ECCO shoes through Zappos. I love ordering through Zappos because they quickly ship your shoes for free. Free shipping should always be a thing, don’t ya think? Unfortunately, not all online retailers think so… womp, womp. I believe we received our shoes in just a few days! If you are an Amazon prime member, all you need to do is sign in with your Amazon email address and password. Also, if you order your ECCO shoes through Zappos you will get all the Zappos perks like the 365 Return policy. That’s an impressive return policy. You pretty much have the whole year to return them!
About ECCO Shoes
ECCO is a world class shoe brand that focuses on creating shoes that have style and comfort. They focus on high quality materials (such as leather) and innovative technology to make sure they are comfortable to wear all day long. They’re one of the few shoe manufacturers that manages and owns every aspect of its leather, shoe production, and retail sales. All their leather shoes have genuine leather uppers. This means that the outer and upper section of the shoe is made with real leather. Overall, their brand is motivated by the ethos of “Premium Leather + Innovative Comfort = Natural Motion“.
The colors of their shoes are inspired by nature. Therefore, you will notice they have lots of neutrals and earth tone colors and texture.
They have enhanced shoe engineering by using their FLUIDFORM™ Technology. This technology creates a shock-absorbing and resilient mold to the shoe and its footbed and overall protects and adds comfort to the foot.
Her ECCO Shoes
I am wearing the ECCO Shape Pointy Ballerina in the Bast color. I was immediately drawn to its sleek silhouette and pointed-toe style. For sure it is a chic looking shoe! I went for a casual style with these shoes, but I definitely think it would look great on with a midi dress or skirt.
The moment I slipped my feet into these shoes, it felt different. My feet already could feel the cushion. Feels like walking on clouds. I did a little happy dance because I am a big fan of mixing in style and comfort. As you can tell by these photos, we were walking around the city in them. My feet did not bother me at all. Not sure if you know this, but I recently got a new side effect from my cancer treatments and it affected my left foot. Basically, my left heel is always sore and feels like I have plantar fasciitis. It’s so annoying. Hence, why I’ve been spending more on shoes that are comfortable. Good news is after walking around the city in my flats, my left heel did not get worse. That’s a win for me.
As for sizing, these shoes fit true to size. Yes, even with pointed toe flats I got my usual size and did not have the urge to size up. The sizing is slightly different for ECCO. I usually wear 7.5 and I am wearing size 38, which is US size 7-7.5. This pair of shoes also comes in 2 other colors: black and night sky (grey blue color).
Another thing to keep in mind is the fit of the toe box. Especially if you decide to go for a pointed-toe style like the one I’m wearing. There is a good amount of room for my toe to move around but snug enough so that it won’t slip when I walk. I had no issues with the toe box with my pair! Sometimes for pointed-toe flats, I would have to size up to ensure there’s room for my toes.
His ECCO Shoes
Tre is wearing the ECCO Soft 7 CVO Sneaker in the Marine color (it is a grey blue color). Let me tell you, Tre rarely buys shoes and rarely compliments shoes. When he received this ECCO soft 7 sneaker, he instantly loved the look. Granted, he did pick it out when he ordered, but according to him it looks even better in person. In my opinion, I already saw that as a win haha.
Tre also liked that the sneakers looked dressier and he can wear them to work. He normally wears these chino pants. We tested them out after this shoot, and the sneakers look awesome with the chinos. The sneakers are made with leather but after walking all day in them, they didn’t look scuffed up.
As for comfort, Tre also agreed that he was comfortable in them all day. He has flat feet (no arch in them) and so he either has to wear orthotics in his shoes or have to find one with enough support. The fact that these leather sneakers were able to absorb the shock helped him a lot. Tre did not need to add orthotics to these sneakers.
Tre usually wears size 11 and got the size 45 (US Size 11-11.5). According to him, they fit well. The sneakers also come in Cocoa Brown and Stone color. Tre also said that the toe box was really comfortable for him too!
ECCO Shoes Reviews
Now that I gave details about what is ECCO shoes and what makes their shoes so different from other shoe brands, I thought I’d write a review and share the pros and cons of ECCO shoes.
The fact that ECCO shoes is known for making comfortable shoes, I had to add this to the top of the list. Everything about the fit, additional arch support, and roomy toe box makes them tolerable and comfortable to wear all day! I’m very amazed by their FLUIDFORM™ Technology.
I wore my ballerina flats to Italy for an entire day, and we walked about 20,000 steps a day! Like I said, any shoe brand that can combine comfort and style will immediately win me over. No more fast fashion for me. Next, I have my eye on their white leather Soft 7 sneakers. I’m all about wearing white sneakers lately!
Who would have thought that wearing a pair of leather shoes can be water repellent?!? As I mentioned earlier, this all due to their innovative technology. So if you are walking around and happened to get a sudden splash of water on your leather sneakers, your shoes will be fine.
Keep in mind that even though these shoes are water repellent, they are not an alternative to your rain shoes or rain boots. ECCO shoes are not meant to be submerged in water.
Especially if you ordered a pair of shoes through Zappos, they will quickly ship your shoes. Our shoes arrived a few days after we ordered them! I thought that was incredibly fast.
Variety of Styles & Functions
What stands up the most with ECCO shoes is that they have the ability to combine dressy and casual style into one shoe. Which means several pairs of ECCO shoes can be worn to work and on a casual day. You can look well put-together without losing that comfort.
They also have a variety of different styles. If your husband (or dad or brother) is into golfing, they also specialized in making golf shoes. They would make a great father’s day gift, birthday gift, or Christmas gift! But they also have a great selection of walking shoes, running shoes, casual sneakers, and high tops for both men and women.
I know I primarily focused on getting their shoes at Zappos, however, you can also find ECCO shoes at other major retailers. I was able to find them at Macys, Nordstrom, DSW, and Nordstrom Rack. However, I will be honest and Zappos seemed to be the only retailer that has the complete collection and styles of ECCO shoes.
For the quality and comfort, it is relatively more affordable compared to its competitors. Especially since their shoes are made with genuine leather. Buying a pair of leather shoes can get really pricey.
I mentioned the sizing information earlier when I was talking about the size of my flats and Tre’s sneakers. However, I do find it slightly annoying that size selection is in European sizing. So it just required a tad bit more thinking and conversion to be sure I got the right size.
While overall I love most of their styles, some of their shoes can have that chunky look. Do you know what I’m talking about? Those chunky shoe style that looks like an elderly person’s shoes that are only made to be comfortable. I’m hoping that they are able to refine more and more of their styles so that all of ECCO shoes are chic and comfortable.
Although I added ‘price’ as a pro, it can also be a con. Even though their price is relatively affordable compared to their competitors, they are still over $100. So to some people I can see that being a splurge.
Not Enough Summer Style
In general, for the summer, there are not that many comfortable sandals. And I hope that ECCO shoes expands their collection and creates more cute and comfortable sandals. They do have a few summer style shoes, but honestly, they are not my style.
Overall Thoughts on ECCO Shoes
Overall, we are now big fans of ECCO shoes! We are so amazed by how comfortable they are. Even better that they have style! I know for me, I am going to be adding ECCO shoes as a trusted shoe brand. I’m already eyeing other pairs like these ankle boots and the white leather sneakers. Aren’t they cute?! As for Tre, I know that once he says he likes something he will always go back to them. I bet you when he needs a new pair of shoes, he will use ECCO shoes or ask them for Christmas haha. I can see him wanting these boots or these dress shoes.
I plan on buying my future ECCO shoes at Zappos or Nordstrom. This is because I trust their customer service. I know that if I have any issues with my pair of shoes, these two retailers are reliable with their customer service. However, Zappos would be my first option only because they carry almost all of ECCO’s collection. I will have more options to choose from. However, until ECCO plans on expanding their summer styles, I will rely on ECCO only for their Fall and maybe Winter styles.
Have you tried ECCO shoes?
