Amazon Coats for Fall & Winter

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a themed Amazon Fashion review. Soon it will be coat season in Chicago and maybe where you live it already is. I was curious to know if Amazon coats would work for Fall (and maybe Winter). So I got a few and did a review on 4 Amazon coats for Fall that are under $100.

Sizing Information

Since this post is a review, I think it is important to understand my size. Based on this information, hopefully it will help you figure out your sizing.

I weigh 140 lbs, straight body type with a bubble butt, and I’m 5’4″ tall. My chest is 32C. For tops, dresses, and skirts, I usually wear a size small or size 4. For bottoms and jeans, I usually wear a size small or size 27 or size 4.

What Else I Wore

Whenever I do an outfit review, I do like to keep certain things consistent. In my opinion, I think it helps with making a decision. So I kept my top, jeans, and shoes consistent.

Top

I wore a navy & white striped Caslon top. It fits true to size, is comfortable and is stretchy.

Jeans

As for my jeans, I’m wearing Everlane’s newest pair of jeans – the 90’s cheeky pants in the Vintage Dark Wash color and ankle length. I will warn you that there is no stretch at all in these jeans. I’m wearing my true size (size 27), but the thighs are still a bit tight. So I couldn’t get them up as high as they should be. These jeans are high-waisted. But after a few wears, they start to loosen up a bit. So if you are curvy, I recommend going one size up.

Shoes

I’m wearing my pointed-toe flats that I purchased from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Fits true to size. For a pointed-toe shoe, you do not need to size up. The leather is soft and won’t cut into your skin (I’ve purchased leather shoes in the past where the leather was tough and cut into my skin.). However, if you need the wide width, I recommend going a size up or not getting these shoes. These are made with medium width.

SIZING: Runs large. I went with an XS. I read the reviews and most of the reviews recommend going down a size.

REVIEW: I’m glad I sized down. The XS fits perfectly with room to wear a sweater and it framed my body well. I love that it has a classic trench coat look to it. It’s hard to find a really good fitting trench coat without splurging. A well-made trench coat can cost at least $200. This was only $99. If you are on a budget, you will love this coat! Highly recommend it!

VERDICT: Kept it!

Amazon Essentials Women’s Utility Jacket c/o

Utility Jacket for Fall

SIZING: Fits true to size. All the reviews say it fits large, but I’m so glad I went with a small. I went with my true size only because the XS was sold out. But it all worked out! I can wear a sweater underneath without my arms and shoulders feeling restricted.

REVIEW: Utility jackets are a Fall must-have! They’re great for milder Fall temperatures and it works well with colder Fall temperatures too. I love that this jacket has a drawstring around the waist. So this helps give the waist area more shape. The quality is really good and it is only $32! It comes in 5 other colors. I have the Khaki color.

VERDICT: Kept it!

Amazon Coat for Winter - Teddy Coat

SIZING: Fits oversized. I got my true size. However, I also think going down a size would fit too!

REVIEW: I love the teddy coat! It just looks so cozy! However, I do wish that this coat was a little bit longer. I wanted a teddy coat that hits calf-length. In addition, the fit is something I’m unsure of. I’m unsure if it looks good on my body? I know it is supposed to be oversized but I can’t quite put my finger on what doesn’t look right. But it sure is a cozy coat!

VERDICT: Still unsure if I want to keep it.

SIZING: Fits large. I sized down and am wearing a size 2.

REVIEW: I’m really impressed with the quality of this coat considering it is only $79.90. Definitely an affordable option if you are looking for a wool coat. In addition, the reviews all said to size down, which is why I did. Personally, I think the 2 or 4 would have worked. Maybe it is just me, but I am always thinking about what it would be like if I wore a chunky sweater. When the temperature drops, I know I’m not going to be wearing a t-shirt underneath my coat. Moreover, it has a more boxy fit. I love the boxy fit because without the belt it still has a chic look to it.

If you want the coat to hug the waist more, I suggest tying the belt in the back. I’m wearing the Camel color, but it also comes in black, grey, and navy. I shared 3 photos of this coat so you have an idea what it looks like without the belt being tied, with the belt tied in the back, and with the belt tied in the front.

    I love your reviews. You always go into such depth and it helps me make decisions later on! I think you should certainly keep the teddy coat. It looks super flattering on you, the color is great, and the length is perfect. I’ve actually never seen a calf-length teddy (that sounds so long to me) so I think the one you got is ideal!

    That first trench is my fave, definitely a keeper! my trench is worn so much over autumn and winter! If you’re not a fan of the teddy coast I say return, while I do like it I think you’ll enjoy using the others more!

    Hope that you have been having a great week 🙂 It’s to be super hot today so we are going to try get out early and avoid the heat! Definitely not coat weather, ha!
