Have you heard of Summersalt? Summersalt specializes in swimsuits and is originally known for their bright-colored, color-blocking one piece swimsuits. But they also offer a variety of items such as sleepwear, loungewear, activewear, and swimwear. I’ve been wanting to try Summersalt swimsuits for a while now. But every time, I keep finding an excuse not to buy one and end up unhappy with a cheaply made swimsuit.
I learned about Summersalt through social media (those ads are too good!). Since I’m analytically driven, I love that the fit of the swimsuit is data-backed. This is what I believe sets them apart from other fashion brands. They took over 1.5 million body measurements from 10,000 women to inform the Summersalt fit and be a size inclusive brand. They use recycled materials to create fabrics and product packaging to be sustainable. With that kind of data research and sustainability, I couldn’t resist and wondered how a Summersalt bathing suit would fit on me and if they’re worth the price.
So when we decided to go to Sarasota so Carter could meet more of his family, I also used the trip as an opportunity to purchase a Summersalt swimwear. I always have insecurities when it comes to wearing swimsuits especially after having a baby. So I made it my mission to find a swimsuit that made me feel good about myself and my body. I just knew I need to invest a bit more in high quality swimwear brands (and not just Amazon haha).
After taking the plunge and wearing their swimsuits, I’m dedicating this post to Summersalt swimsuits, what my thoughts are about each one, and what I think you all should know.
Summersalt Swimsuit Review
I’ve purchased only two swimsuits. My criteria was to look for a chic one-piece swimsuit that was trendy yet classic. The goal is not to buy a new swimsuit every year. I also want to make sure there is butt coverage. I can’t stand how almost every swimsuit bottom is cheeky. What’s wrong with covering up your butt?
Since I will be sharing the size and fit of the swimsuits, I think it is important to understand my size. I am 5’4″ tall, weigh about 140 lbs, and have a 32C chest. For dresses and tops, I normally wearing a size small or size 4. For bottoms, skirts, and jeans, I normally wear a size 27, size 4, or size small.
How to Find Full Butt Coverage and Other Fits
There is A LOT of Summersalt swimwear to pick from. What’s nice is that they have a filter to narrow down your search. You’ll find the filter in the left of the screen. Under ‘Fit’, I selected ‘Full Coverage (C)‘. C Coverage is their fullest coverage. There are other fit filters like boob support, long torso, maternity, etc. So hopefully there’s a swimsuit to accommodate different body types.
The Tie Oasis
I was drawn to this swimsuit’s tie-shoulder straps and nautical stripes. I thought it was so cute and thought it would look really cute if I wore it as a bodysuit with a maxi skirt.
- Fit: It runs a bit small, so you will have to size up (it’s also recommended to size up on their site). I usually wear size 4, but I had to size up to a 6. The fabric has compression which gives you a secure fit. I love the compression because it holds everything together.
- Size Range: Size 2 to Size 22
- Boob Support: Shelf bra with built-in soft cups
- Material: It is made with 78% recycled polyamide, 22% elastane
- Size Range: Size 2 to Size 22: $125
- Colors: Nautical Stripe in Olive Green (I love this color too and might want to get it!), Nautical Stripe in Blue, Vintage Floral In Ivy, and Nautical Stripe in Nantucket Red
Thoughts:
I love the way it fits on me. It’s definitely flattering. But I do have two comments on it. It says it has full butt coverage and I felt like it was more between cheeky and full coverage. My butt cheeks were a little out but not to the point you can call it cheeky. Haha does that make sense?
After wearing it a couple times, I noticed that one of the threads was unraveling. I was shocked because they are known to create high quality swimwear. I reached out to their customer support and they mentioned to me that, that’s not what’s supposed to happen and they want to make it right. So they quickly shipped me a new swimsuit without charge and expedited to ship in 2 days. I was very impressed with their customer service. They were quick to rectify the issue.
Since I got my new one, I have had zero issues with the quality. So do I think it is worth the price? Yes and no. After receiving my new one, the quality stands with the price very well. However, I don’t like that it says it has full but coverage when it wasn’t a true full coverage on me. Therefore, I think the price should be $100 not $125.
If you love the nautical stripes but prefer a two-piece swimsuit, they have nautical stripe bikini tops and high leg high rise bottoms. There’s also a smocked maxi dress which I think is super cute and totally my style.
The Ruffle Oasis
Similar to the other swimsuit, I was drawn by how cute this one is. I love the ruffles and print! It’s feminine without being too girly.
- Fit: I also recommend sizing up (and their site recommended it too). I’m wearing size 6 (normally size 4), and it fits me perfectly. It also has Summersalt’s signature compression which means it gave me that perfect fit.
- Size Range: Size 2 to Size 22
- Boob Support: Shelf bra with built-in soft cups
- Material: It is made with 78% recycled polyamide, 22% elastane
- Price: $125
- Colors: Black and White Polka Dot (On The Dot), Sea Urchin (Black), On the Dot Seaweed (Green and White polka dots), Menagerie (this is what I have), Midnight Bloom
Thoughts:
I think this is my favorite swimsuit ever! I love everything from the fit to the style. And it has TRUE FULL BUTT COVERAGE. I have zero complaints – no issues with quality at all. It held up really well and I was in the pool almost everyday. If I had to recommend a bathing suit, this is the one I would share. I can totally see how different body types would look great in this swimsuit. It’s cute, feminine, trendy, sexy yet classic and classy. The prints and colors are very pretty too!
This style also comes in a two-piece swimsuit. They have the Ruffle Oasis Bikini Top and Ruffle High Leg High Rise Bikini Bottoms.
Is Summersalt Swimsuit Worth It?
Generally speaking yes. Both bathing suits felt high quality and I love the compression fabric. I felt comfortable in it postpartum.
Compared to other high quality swimwear brands, Summersalt is on the lower end of that range. Their swimsuits range from $95 to $150. Which in my opinion, is relatively affordable. Plus, they’re made to last so you should not have to replace them for awhile. The cost per wear is what makes this brand affordable.
Because these are high end swimsuits, the customer service is superb. After my problem with the Nautical Stripe bathing suit, they immediately rectified the issue. I was so pleased!
Have you tried Summersalt’s swimsuits?

These are cute swimsuits on you! It’s a shame you didn’t like the first one much but great the second one was such a winner! 🙂 I found swimwear post baby tricky as everything had changed but it was constantly changing – ended up just layering a rashie or tee over my bikini tops so it was a bit more modest until things calmed down post-breastfeeding, haha! I’m definitely due new swimwear though I think! It’s just such a tricky thing to find time for with the kids!
Hope that your week is going well 🙂
I’d love to get a Summersalt suit! They are also sustainable!
