My 2018 Highlights (See Original Post)
I can’t believe today is the last day of 2018. I swear (and I know I will probably say this every year), each year goes by faster and faster. Are you ready for the year to end?
An Eye Opening Lesson
Last year was a difficult year. 2018 was for sure an improvement! We still had our challenges, but I think we learned to navigate our challenges and make the most out of 2018. One lesson that I think was very eye opening for me is that challenges are part of life (sometimes more severe and tragic) and I don’t think we will ever avoid them.
At the end of 2017, I was ready for the new year and that’s exactly what Tre and I did. We acknowledged and accepted that cancer will always be part of our lives and accepted that some days will be more difficult. Because we accepted this, it helped us move forward. The acceptance helped see a clearer picture of what we want in life because the truth is, some things can’t be changed. Hence, why I wrote a post about feeling content after a cancer diagnosis.
I’m at a point in my life where I can feel more myself. I’m not the same person as I was before cancer, but a lot of who I am is coming back – just in a different way. And that makes me really happy!
My 2018 Highlights
The first thing I did in 2018 was resign from my job of 7 years. It was one of the hardest decisions to make because I was thinking about how much it would affect our finances. But my gut was telling me to leave. I went with my gut. My parents have taught me that time is something you can’t always get back, but money is something you can. So right after the holidays, I resigned and I never felt so relieved in my life. I don’t regret it at all. If anything, I realized how much more valuable I am and seeing how much my health has improved since I left my job, assured me that I made the right decision. You can’t put a price on health. It always comes first.
I’m not going into too much detail about all our experiences in 2018 but definitely some of the highlights were turning 30. Woo, I could not have been more excited about aging. It really is a gift! Tre and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary (I can’t believe it has been 3 years already!). And of course, we did some traveling! We went to some places that were on our bucketlist!
Okay, enough about me. I thought it would fun to share some of the top things from the blog!
