Summertime Girl

I’m such a summertime girl. The moment the season has changed to summertime, I’m a much happier person. My mood, my attitude, my perspective, and my energy is so much better. Especially my energy! It’s like the extra sun and daylight is a natural caffeine booster. I can accomplish so much in a day during the Summer versus Winter.

During the colder months, the moment the clock says 5pm, it’s so hard to do anything else. My mind has checked out and the day is done. And during the day, oh man I’m so sluggish.

Everything about the Summer just feels so much better and effortless. When it comes to putting on clothes, so easy! Hello to dresses and jumpsuits. It’s a one item outfit and I already look put together. Colder weather requires more effort and more layers. Ugh!

Summer Love is Real

I actually would rather be hot than cold, even when I do have my hot flashes (thank you hormone therapy). Because when my body gets back to its normal temperature, I get cold so easily! To me, in the 80’s is like room temperature haha. I’ve always been this way ever since I was a little girl. It could be because it is in my genes. After all, my bloodline is from the tropics.

It’s My Home

So why am I sharing this? Because it’s mid-August, and I know the summer season will be over soon. For this summertime girl, it makes me sad. I live for the summer months. I know what you are thinking, why don’t you just move to a place where it feels like summer all year round. I’ve thought about that, but Chicago is my home.

I love living in a Metropolitan area and it is nice when the season changes according to the holidays. It feels odd to me knowing some places around the world celebrate Christmas when there’s no snow or cold weather.

But anyways, I’m going to enjoy every bit that Chicago summer has to over. I didn’t get to do a lot that was on my Chicago summer list, but who knows, there’s still time. Or maybe just maybe (totally crossing my fingers) some of the summer weather extends into the Fall months.

For those who don’t know, it’s been a LONGGGGG time since Chicago has had real Fall weather. It goes from Summer to Winter. And if we do get Fall weather, it only lasts about a week or two :(. Hence, another reason why I prefer Summer.

    I’m a summer lover too! This summer wasn’t the best here on the east coast, it’s been rainy and soo humid it’s very unusual but I’ll still take it over the snow we got over the winter. Ugh snow, not snow. You look beautiful and summery in that yellow dress!

    You look so beautiful in your yellow dress and I love how it just flows with you. Your hair is pretty as well and you should do a tutorial on how to get it that look! I would love to learn it. I am not a summer time gal. While I can see why a lot of people love summer, unfortunately the heat deters me from loving it. We get a bit of Fall but it also feels like from summer to winter. Last year was like that.

    I get SO excited for summer every year- and while I’ll complain about the heat and humidity, it really is the best season. Spring and fall are pretty, but KC is kinda like Chicago- these seasons never last long enough!

    I wish I enjoyed summertime more! I just really dislike the heat, I don’t live near a beach, I never have a pool membership, I don’t travel, and bugs are not my friend haha! I guess it’s not my thing, but it sure seems like a magical time for so many others, and I’m glad you get to enjoy it to the fullest!
