The Overalls Trend
The overalls trend is hitting it big this season. I’ll admit I haven’t worn a pair of overalls since the middle of 3rd or 4th grade. And they were the coolest thing ever. I got mine from Limited Too (that place was the bomb! haha) and I got them in denim, corduroy, dress-version. Any style, you bet I got it.
Then I started seeing the overalls trend re-emerge. It slowly happened a couple years ago and now they are the ‘it’ piece this Spring. I was hesitant at first, but after seeing how the overalls (now) are so much more chic than the 90’s I was sold. They’re made to fit the modern day style.
Are They For Me?
I’ve been seeing more people wear overalls and I LOVED it. Everyone who’s been wearing it, makes it look so good that I wanted to wear overalls myself. But I’ll be honest, I was a little scared to jump into it. Why? Well, because I felt like I would be the only one who would still look like my 3rd grader self if I were to wear a pair.
Easing Into the Overalls Trend
It wasn’t until last Fall that I discovered this. And I knew these overalls were a match made in heaven. It was a sign that I could ease into the overalls trend. The straps were not too overalls-looking but it still had the overalls effect. Andddd it is wide-leg! If you’ve seen my Spring outfits lately, you know I’m into the wide-leg pants! The best part is that the straps can come undone. They have buttons inside the pants so you can unbutton the straps and wear the bottom half as wide-leg jeans. Genius, right? So if I’m feeling a little self-conscious about wearing these ‘overalls’, I can unhook and wear them as high-waisted jeans.
Basically these overalls are like getting 2 outfits in one. I can wear them like overalls or wear them as jeans, and I only had to pay one price! As for sizing, I’m wearing a size 27. So I would say they fit true to size and didn’t need any hemming. The straps are also adjustable.
Because of these overalls, I was able to ease into the overalls trend and I’m ready for more. I think I might get these Free People ones. Based on my InstaStory poll, more than half of you weren’t too crazy about it. But I do love its cropped wide-leg style. However, the ones I’m really eyeing are these Madewell ones!
What are your thoughts on the overalls trend? Have you worn one since the 90’s?
