Madewell Summer Collection Try-On & Review

Madewell is one of my all time favorite retailers. And when I saw Madewell’s Summer collection, I was squirming with joy. Haha, I know that sounds silly but summer is my favorite time of the year to dress and combine it with my favorite retailer, it’s basically fate.

I received positive feedback when I shared the Madewell overalls. You all loved it and it became one of my highest sellers! So I figured, why not do a Madewell summer collection try-on? I’ll give a review on sizing, quality, etc. Pretty much the same way I structure my Amazon Fashion posts. However, all of these pieces are keepers.

I received the Emmett wide-leg gingham pants, textured wrap top, tiered maxi dress and floral maxi dress. Also, whenever I do my try-ons, I always to try to keep something consistent. In my opinion, it helps with comparison. So I kept my shoewear consistent. I wore my Dolce Vita rattan mules. They fit true to size. If you need wide fit, I recommend going up a size.

Emmett Wide-leg Gingham Pants c/o

SIZING: Fits true to size with a little room. I normally wear a size 27 and got it in a 27 in Regular length. Fits perfectly, but there was some room around the waist, but everything else fit in all the right places. Not necessarily a bad thing. But I also think I could probably fit in a 26 too. The fabric has some stretch to it which makes them comfortable and they have a perfectly cropped length. I’m 5’4″.

REVIEW: Overall, I am a big fan of Madewell’s Emmett wide-leg pants. I love that they came out with this checkered gingham print. The gingham is what makes the pants look very summery. I own another pair of Emmett wide-leg pants and also got it in a 27. But it didn’t have that extra bit of room around the waist. At the same time, I’m not surprised. Sometimes due to different prints and colors, the fabric just has a different fitting.

SIZING: Fits true to size. I usually wear a small and I’m wearing a small.

REVIEW: I love this tank and I’m a fan of the fabric. Very breathable but feels high quality. It has a slightly boxier fit. So if you want a more fitted fit, then you may want to size down. The length is shorter than your usual tank top but not short enough to be considered a cropped top. Haha, did that even make sense? Basically in between a normal tank top length and cropped tanks. Because of the boxy fit, you can do a front tuck if that fits your style (I love a good front tuck!). The tank is already made to have that wrap style look, but you don’t need to do any wrapping. Which to me is a great feature. I always love the look of a wrap top, but wearing them is a pain. They get loose throughout the day, the tie doesn’t stay put, etc. There’s also a small clasp in the neckline area. That way if you don’t want a deep-v, you can use the clasp. That’s what I did.

SIZING: Fits true to size. I’m wearing a small and normally wear small in Regular length (I’m 5’4″).

REVIEW: This is a fun dress to wear! Very twirlable and so breathable and great to wear during hot and/or humid days! What’s amazing is that the fabric is not paper thin. So you know it is made to last. There are two prints on this dress – both are a vintage floral print in different colors. It has an adjustable tie-back. I love the tie-back. Gives the dress feminine details AND an opportunity to wear the dress backwards. Yes backwards. The tie-back looks great as a tie-front dress. Which is how I wore it in the second photo.

SIZING: Fits true to size with a little wiggle room. I usually wear size 4 and I’m wearing a size 4 in the dress. There’s a little extra dress; however, if I were to size down I think the dress might be too tight.

REVIEW: This dress has the same vintage floral print as one of the floral prints in the tiered maxi dress. I didn’t realize this when I placed my order haha. But this dress has a more dressed up look compared to the other dress yet still can be worn in a casual setting. It has a high-low hemline with a slit in the center. Even though there’s a slit, the fabric overlaps. Therefore, you don’t run into the issue of accidentally exposing your underwear. Some dresses with slits have this issue and it’s so annoying. Since I had some wiggle room in this dress, I decided to tighten everything up by accessorizing with my favorite rattan belt (shown in the second photo). I actually like it with the rattan belt a lot. What do you think?
