My BBG Fitness Journey
I am so happy to hear that many of you are feeling motivated to start your BBG Fitness after my initial BBG post. Yay! I feel so honored that I have inspired you all. It is definitely a program that requires a lot of dedication and heart. If you do this program for all the right reasons, I truly believe you will see results. Like I said before, it is not about being thin or skinny. It is about feeling your strength and understanding how strong and powerful you truly are.
Back to BBG Fitness
Altogether, I’ve been doing the BBG fitness program for 8 weeks. The first 4 weeks was the pre-training and then I started weeks 1-4. I will be honest and say that I didn’t follow weeks 1-4 as well as I did with the pre-training. I was doing well until I was sick for a month! I caught some weird stomach bug and couldn’t hold anything in. Then when I got better I tried to get back on the horse, and got sick again. That’s when I had the cough scare. Thank goodness that is all behind me. So basically, I would do one week of BBG, got sick, tried to do another week of BBG, and got sick again to the point that there was 3 weeks of gap from completing week 4 and starting week 5.
I knew that after having 3 weeks off I couldn’t just start back on week 5. To ease myself back in, I did week 4 again. Hence, why only now you are getting my BBG fitness update almost 2 months after the first one. I wanted to be realistic with you all on how I’m doing with my BBG journey.
My Struggle, at First
I’ll be honest, I was upset at first that my entire workout schedule was screwed up due to being sick. So upset to the point that I wanted to give up. I kept telling myself, what’s the point of continuing if I can’t properly do my workout the ‘right way’. About a week before I re-started Week 4, a light bulb turned on in my head. I realized that this BBG journey I am on symbolizes life. And yes, there are so many things that will get in the way and so many things that are out of our control. But what I can control is how I approach this situation. I knew in my heart I was determined to keep going and I can’t let a few setbacks get in the way of my goals. And that is how I decided to keep going and re-start Week 4.
What I Did To Get Back On Track:
So to get back on track I did 2 things:
- I did a week of cardio only to build my endurance.
- After doing a week of cardio, I re-started Week 4’s workout.
I am so glad I re-started Week 4. It was a great way for me to do a workout I was familiar with and build confidence. It really did prepare me for Week 5. And it reassured me that I can still do this workout. I may need to modify it here and there and that is totally okay! So if you are doing BBG and feeling defeated, remind yourself it is okay. You just need to approach it a little different. And that approach can be customized to what works for you!
What Has Changed
Even though I didn’t follow the workout scheduled perfectly for Weeks 1-4, I have felt and noticed the transformation! I feel sooo good about myself. The changes are not significant but I just love how I feel about myself! The bonus was that my family and doctors have noticed the difference in my body. Overall, since I started the program, I lost 4 pounds. It’s not a lot, but a lot is not what I’m going for. I wanted to re-gain my muscles and strength that I lost since my cancer diagnosis.
Start (January 2018): 140 pounds
Pre-training (4 weeks): 137.2 pounds
Training Weeks 1-4: 136.4 pounds
Need to Work On
I think going forward, I need to add more yoga. That way my body is less sore and more stretched out. I’ve noticed that my body has been sore longer than it has been in the past and I think it is because I haven’t been going to yoga. So I’ll be sure to keep you guys posted on that!
If you are currently doing BBG, how are you doing? Did you have any struggles/conflict while doing the workouts? How did you overcome it? I love to hear from you guys because a lot of you have great advice!
P.S. You need to have this pink sports bra I was wearing. It is sooo comfortable! If you had a mastectomy (like me), you will really appreciate it. It is extremely comfortable, easy to get in, and the mesh fabric makes it so breathable. So if you constantly get hot flashes, this bra will allow some air flow! It also comes in several colors: white, blue/orange, grey, and pink/grey. The only thing about this bra is the sizing. I’m usually a 32C and the 30D fits me better!

I really need to get back to regular workout too. 🙂

Hopefully you can get back to it soon!
I always check out Kayla on Insta and I’m so inspired by her transformation stories. You are so right that it is about the confidence as much as the body changes. I’m glad you are feeling better and back at BBG. You look so happy and confident in the most recent pictures. You can definitely see the difference!

This is so relatable, BBG is so hard girl!! I’ve tried and failed so many times… I think I’m going to give it a try again next week! I’m so impressed you made it so long, that’s awesome girl!!

Thanks Jane!
Wow so inspiring to read this. I think the problem during a fitness transformation is that you don’t see the changes by only looking in the mirror everyday. Before and after pictures are the best self motivation.
Keep going! 🙂

Thank you Genya! And I agree! I tried looking in the mirror everyday and it felt so disappointing. The changes are so subtle each day that it is hard to tell. But giving it some time, the changes are significant!
Wow amazing dear!!! You’re a good motivation!!

I love your approach to fitness- it’s like life. It’s not going to go 100% as planned, there will be setbacks and deviations, but you gotta keep going. I need to keep this in mind!

Thank you!
You go girl! This is amazing. Yes 4 weeks may not look that much on photo and in the mirror, but it’s how you feel inside – energized, strong, and confidence. Also, you actually gain weight as you gain lean muscle and lose fat. So weight isn’t always the most accurate measure of fitness. Keep going!

It totally is true! I don’t care much about the weight and more about how I feel!
