Have any of you heard of Universal Standard? I’ll be honest, I just learned about this clothing brand a couple months ago. The reason why I heard of them is because they opened a brick & mortar store in Chicago. The space was amazing and it offers more than shopping. I’ll share more on that later!
The minute I saw Universal Standard’s clothes, I immediately became obsessed. The style is basic, classic, and high quality. To me this means it is effortlessly chic and they’re versatile pieces. Want to know the best part about them? They’re known to be the most size inclusive brand that exists. They have the most size variety of any brand. Currently, they have 40 sizes. And their sizes are known to be ‘true sizes’. Meaning, a true medium is actually a size 18, so that is how they based their sizing.
My Favorite Things About This Brand
Oh and want to know what my favorite thing is about this brand? I KNOW you all will love this perk too. If any and I mean ANY of your clothes from them no longer fit (either its too small or too big) you can exchange it for FREE! There’s no time limit when you can make the exchange. Just any time in your lifetime your size has changed. How amazing is this? I seriously wish I knew about this brand before my mastectomy and cancer treatments. My size has changed so much and of course that required me to buy new clothes. Knowing this about Universal Standard would have been cost-saving.
Universal Standard Size Inclusive Sizing
They believe that a size medium should reflect the size that most women are. Hence why the size 18 is a medium. Therefore, their sizing is slightly different. But easy to follow and understand. For example, in other clothing, I’m normally a size small (size 4). In Universal Standard’s sizing, this translates to a size 3XS. Their size goes up to 4XL, which is a size 40.

The Basic Tee
Ok, so let’s talk about what I’m wearing. The t-shirt I’m wearing is from Universal Standard. I have to start with something very basic and neutral. And you know it’s good if you love their white tees. Verdict: I love this white tee! First of all, it’s soooo soft! Which translates to “very comfortable”. This tee is fitted but doesn’t feel restricting. If anything, it’s so flattering! It is probably hard to tell in the photos, but the tee is ribbed. The length is longer than your usual t-shirt length but not long enough to be considered a tunic. I hope this makes sense….
You can wear this tee alone during the Summer, but during Fall it would look great to layer underneath a jean jacket (these ones are my favorites) or a cardigan. During those cold Chicago winters, it’s a perfect base layer underneath a chunky knit sweater. I also own this tee in the navy color in the v-neck version.
Their Brick & Mortar Store
As I mentioned earlier, they opened a brick & mortar store in Chicago. It’s located in the West Loop. The exact address is 174 N ADA ST, SUITE 200, CHICAGO, IL 60607. They also have stores in other cities and you can check them out here for their locations. The space is incredible. The decor is on-point. Basically it feels like you’re at home. A super chic and cozy home. There are several rooms and two of them are used as fitting rooms. One can be a private fitting room (just for you) and you can have a stylist help you pick out some stuff. Or you can use the larger fitting room for a group private fitting room. Wouldn’t that be perfect for a girls day/night? Pop some champagne and do some shopping!
They also have a kitchen stocked with snacks, drinks, and coffee (of course) and a very large dining table. Ohh and they have a swanky bathroom with a shower! See how this can totally be your home haha.
Speaking of the very large dining table, that table can be used as a work space. That’s right, you can come in anytime during the day and use it as a workspace. How cool is that?! What’s even cooler is that you can actually rent out the entire space (the store) for an event, meeting, party, all for F-R-E-E. That’s right free! You just have to make sure you book it in advance. YES! I am so happy that we now live in a world that is all size inclusive, all gender and race inclusive and that we are now striving to be as sustainable as possible. It took look enough but at least we are getting there!
