Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s Eve and hopefully you woke up into the new year feeling refreshed and ready. After reflecting on 2018’s highlights, yesterday got me thinking about what I want my 2019 goals to be.
Don’t Believe in New Year, New Me
I’m not a fan of ‘new year, new me’, because I believe everyone should embrace who they are. Changing who you are will not make you a better person. If anything, it might be stressful because in my opinion, you are changing something that is so unnatural to you.
I believe in goals. They help you achieve what you want in life. The key to feeling successful with goals is being realistic with your expectations. If you have a big goal in mind, create mini goals to achieve it. It feels good to feel victorious along the way.
Elevate My Life
My 2019 goals are goals that will help me elevate my life, feel good about my day to day, and overall have a positive impact on me mentally. When my head is in the right place, it physically shows. And I’m all for that!
My 2019 Goals
Ok, I’m not deleting Instagram but not let it get to me. Yes, the algorithm sucks, but it also sucks for everyone. So I’m just going to let Instagram be whatever it wants to be, and I’ll post and have fun with it. If getting fewer ‘likes’ means less brand partnership, then so be it. This is not a popularity contest and I started this out of passion and not money. Plus, my focus is on my blog.
Organize my closet and desk.
Overall, I like to keep things organized, but lately my closet feels out of control. It’s not organized in a way that makes it efficient or makes good use of the space. But doing this all at once is overwhelming. I should focus on one section at a time. I started this the other day, and I already feel great about it and it gives me a better idea of what organization items I should buy.
Stay in touch.
I’ll admit that I am AWFUL at staying in touch with people. This year, I want to make an effort to be the one to initiate. For some reason, it makes me anxious but if these are people I care about and they put in the effort for me, I really should be doing the same. A healthy relationship goes both ways.
Let it go.
I am the queen of holding grudges. Maybe some are unnecessary to hold on to. I have a hard time letting it go. When I see someone, I think of several things they’ve done that did me wrong.
Improve on finances.
I think Tre and I are good with managing our finances, but I know I can do better. This is always on the list every year because there is always room for improvement. It doesn’t matter how much money you earned or already have, everyone can improve on their finances. For me, I think I need to be better at tracking and if that expense is worth the ROI.
Be okay with spontaneity.
Honestly, I hate being spontaneous. I need to at least know or have an idea what’s going on. I’ve always been a planner. If I don’t make a list for the day, I go nuts and my anxiety goes up. I’m not saying I will be completely carefree and do whatever. But I need to be okay if something doesn’t go as planned or if I don’t have a plan from time to time.
I want to enhance skills that I have or learn new skills either personally or professionally. The world is constantly evolving and I’m just itching to be a part of it. I don’t know exactly how I’ll continue to learn. I might look up e-courses, conferences, etc.
Finish our wedding book.
It’s sad but we never finished creating our wedding book. It’s halfway done, and it would be nice to finish it. As you all know, I was diagnosed with cancer right after we got married, and so finishing the wedding book was pushed aside. I’m feeling better than ever and there is no excuse. Plus, I want to be able to have something tangible to look back on. It’s the happiest day of our lives!
We live in a techy world and honestly my digital stuff is so cluttery, especially my phone! I need to delete unwanted photos in my phone’s camera roll, organize my phone’s photos into categorized albums, and then be better at uploading them onto my external hard drive. I also need to clean up and organize files on my computer. Overall, I need to be more efficient with my digital stuff.
Ok To Make Adjustments
For now, these are my 2019 goals. I’m sure as days go by or even months, there will be more added to this list. As we grow each day, parts of our lives change. So if you have goals for 2019, remember it is 100% okay if it changes or you want to add to it throughout the year. A new year should not be the only time we set goals for our life.
