Can you believe that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 is coming up in a couple weeks?! If you are an avid blog reader, then you know this sale is the mecca of all sales. Every blogger loves to talk about it (such as myself), and I know Nordstrom lovers/shoppers love this sale too! It is seriously one of the best sales of the year!

What Is The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is an annual sale where most of the Fall’s new arrivals at Nordstrom are marked down up to 40% off. This sale includes high-end (Rag & Bone, Tory Burch, etc), well known brands (i.e. Topshop, J.Crew, etc) and Nordstrom exclusive brands (i.e. Halogen, BP, etc). The mark down is incredible because (especially the high-end and well known brands), they are full price at other retailers. Typically, Fall fashion tends to cost more. Think coats, boots, cardigans.

The sale lasts about two weeks. The sale dates are noted below.

When Is The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019?

Early Access: July 12 – 18

Public Access: July 19 – August 4

***Prices go up on August 5***

What Is Early Access and How Can I Get It?

Early access is only granted for individuals who are Nordstrom cardmembers. Therefore, cardmembers can access the sale before the public can. Sign up here if you’re interested. This is actually why I became a cardmember. Items sell out quickly during the sale, and I’ve now learned that to get what I want, I have to be a cardmember (Of course, I spend within reason as should everyone! Never use a credit card if you can’t pay it off the next month!).

I put so much emphasis on this sale because I KNOW I will end up buying this stuff anyway. So it only makes sense to get it while the price is more affordable versus getting it at full price later. Living in Chicago, getting the right Fall items is so important! I got the best snow boots during the sale. The Sperry’s snow boots I got last year were amazing and worth every penny! Until now, it is one of my top sellers!

Will They Restock?

Unfortunately, once Nordstrom sells out of an item during the sale they do not re-stock. Another reason why I became a cardmember. However, occasionally I do see some items get back in stock. Honestly, I think those are returns. I’ve noticed that some people would buy items in a couple sizes if they are unsure which size to get, and then return the one that doesn’t fit. So if the item you see is sold out bookmark it, and just keep checking. There’s a possibility it’ll be back!

If you’re Canadian, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is only available in-store. For U.S., it is available both online and in-store.

How I Like To Shop

My favorite Nordstrom feature and how I shop the sale is I use the ‘online and pick them up at the store‘. I can shop in my pjs as soon as the sale is live, and then pick up my order at the store later that day. I immediately go to the fitting room and try on all the stuff I purchased. If I want to return any of it, I can immediately return it at the store. So easy!

Additional Tips During Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019

Aside from being a cardmember (btw, their credit card has so many perks too like no foreign transaction fees which I like to use when we travel haha), I highly recommend bookmarking anything you see. If there is an item I recommended or if you browse through the catalog and see something you like, bookmark it. So that when the sale is live, you can immediately add it to your cart. It minimizes your risk of selling out and increases your chance of getting it asap.

What To Shop For

They do have some summer stuff in this sale, but I typically avoid it. Pro Tip: A lot of summer pieces go on sale late July and August (even though it still feels like summer). Therefore, my focus is on Fall items. Fall items that I know will be costly no matter where I go.

So I shop for coats (currently need some new wool coats), boots, cardigans, sweaters and basic tops (you can’t go wrong with high quality basic tops). Occasionally, I will get a cute Fall dress or skirt.

Oh yes, I forgot to include that I shop for beauty products, specifically clean beauty products. You all know they are pricey!

Even though you can’t imagine wearing anything Fall right now, especially if you are reading this and it’s 90 degrees, 100% humidity, and the sun’s ray is beaming strong, trust me you will regret not getting it when the temperature drops and you make a purchase and pay full price.

P.S. Items from last year tend to come back too! So I highly recommend checking what my picks were last year. I did a review of the items I purchased (sizing, quality, if I returned).

    Picking up in stores and returning what doesn’t fit is genius! I think I’m going to try that this year, because last year was wild in stores and I don’t want to have to try to do that again haha.
