This post is sponsored by Breast Cancer Healthline. My thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting companies I support.
Over the next month, I’ve partnered with Breast Cancer Healthline. I’m excited to share my thoughts and journey in the app with you all! Overall, I’m just excited to share about Breast Cancer Healthline’s app. It is seriously an incredible way for Breast Cancer Fighters, Survivors, or as I like to call it – Thrivers to have a community, connect with others, and find useful & helpful resources.
If you haven’t yet and you were diagnosed with breast cancer, I highly recommend downloading the app. It is free to use. If you have it already downloaded, that is awesome! Feel free to share your thoughts about the app with me!
What is Breast Cancer Healthline?
For those who are not familiar with the Breast Cancer Healthline app, it is a segment from Healthline dedicated to those who are and were diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Healthline is a health information site where you can find information on health conditions, medical research, or get some healthy lifestyle tips. Even prior to being diagnosed with breast cancer, Healthline was one of my go-to sites.
Healthline recognized that there was a need for support in the breast cancer community. So they created an app specifically for individuals diagnosed with breast cancer. The app will help connect these breast cancer thrivers to a community of those going through the same things.
This App Wants to Learn More About you
When you create a login account in the Breast Cancer Healthline app, it will ask questions about your diagnosis such as your Stage, Pathology (ER, PR, HER), treatment plan, etc.
Then it tries to learn more about the type of support you are looking for such as topics you want to learn more about. For me it is self-care, daily living, fertility, and emotional & mental health.
Here is the fun part! The app wants to learn more about you personally. For instance what are things that feed your soul? For me it is pets, spending time at home, family/friends, fitness, humor, etc. And it asks an icebreaker question – What could you give a 40-minute presentation on with absolutely no preparation?
Isn’t it fun? Based on this, it helps learn to connect you to other members of the app and finds a match. You will either be matched based on stage, pathology, treatment plan, or interests or all of the above! The match is located in the Members section. You can also find me! My username in the app is rdulay. Same as my Instagram account.
You will have the opportunity to connect with others. In the Members section, you will see who is currently online. There’s a section labeled ‘Online Now’ with a green dot next to their name. So if you ever need support no matter what time or day, you will be able to see which breast cancer thriver is there to chat with you. You can communicate with them similar to how Facebook messenger works.
There are also discussion boards that talk about various topics that a cancer thriver goes through. For instance, there are discussions on Survivorship, Newly Diagnosed, Treatment and Side-Effects, Relationships, etc. What’s amazing about these discussions is that everyone can be honest about their thoughts without judgement. It is a space where everyone knows we all have struggles. At the same time, you gain support, tips, suggestions, and advice.
Speaking of discussion boards, did you know that there are live chats being held?! Which is amazing because you can get real-time discussions. The chats are structured like the messages except they are under the discussion board section. These live chats are pre-scheduled so you know when to tune in. Whomever is hosting the Live Chat will provide the time & date and which discussion board to tune in to.
I know my friends Anna and Kelsey manage a Live Chat once a week. I looked through the discussion board, and the chats are amazing! You can reply to one another and support. The Healthline team is also there to provide additional support.
I’m considering hosting a Live Chat. What are your thoughts? I was thinking maybe my topics should be more on safe beauty products (since that is currently what I am passionate about), fashion & style after cancer, and life after cancer. Let me know your thoughts and if you all are interested, I can start in January 2019!
Other Breast Cancer Healthline App Features
The app also has other amazing features that provide additional support to breast cancer thrivers. In the app, there is a ‘Discover’ section. Here you will find several articles about breast cancer. You can find out about medical research advances, what to ask your doctor, activities to support your mind and body, treatment options, nutrition, etc. Overall this section is the Heathline website, but all the articles are dedicated to breast cancer. Which I think makes it easier because I know they all relate to me.
I hope you all find it helpful learning more about the Breast Cancer Healthline App. In a world where technology is all around us, it is amazing to know that we can use our technological advances to help and support people who are diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s amazing to know that no matter where you live and where you are in your cancer journey, there is support out there for you.
I highly recommend checking out the app. There’s nothing to lose! Download the app here (it’s free!).
