9 Chic Smocked Tops

Obsessed With Smocked Tops

My latest obsession are smocked tops. Well to be more precise, I’ve been into them since early Spring and the obsession has continued to grow. I definitely want to wear more of these tops in the Fall!

I’ve been wearing my yellow floral one nonstop with almost any bottom you can think of. I’ve worn it with white pants or with a suede skirt.

Floral Smock Top

Smocked tops are nothing new. They were introduced in the late 90’s and they were all the rage. I find it so crazy that 90’s fashion is so in. Do any of you remember them? They look like baby size clothes with that crinkly looking fabric but it can stretch out and fit almost anyone. If I remember properly, most of them were tube tops. (10 minutes later) Did a quick google search and found them! They were called popcorn shirts haha. Can we face palm to that look?!

Recycling Fashion

Fashion trends tend to recycle themselves, but when they do they come back with a modern twist. Also, it freaks me out that the 90’s were 30 years ago. When I think 30 years ago I always think of the 70s haha. Anyways, the smocked top has made a return and they’re definitely way chicer than the popcorn shirts.

For me, it’s like wearing a fitted top but not as constricting. I usually avoid wearing super fitted tops because sometimes I feel like a sausage casing in them haha. But with a smocked top, I feel so comfortable. They can easily dress up or make a casual outfit look slightly more feminine. Love pairing them with these jeans. You know I love it when an outfit is so effortless.

    I have yet to get into this style for myself, but I’m constantly seeing how flattering smocked tops are on everyone else, and it’s beginning to convince me that I need some in my life! These options are so cute!

    I am not sure if I had any smocked tops when I was younger but I remember the popcorn tees, haha! What a blast from the past! Mine was blue I recall.
