Apparently, I’m on a kick lately talking about faux leather. But as I mentioned in the previous post, I do think this faux leather pleated skirt deserves a dedicated blog post. I think I really like this outfit because everything I’m wearing is non-maternity, yet it is still a very bump-friendly outfit. Which means after the baby is born, I can still wear it! Just keep in mind that the length of skirt will be different after the baby. This is a midi skirt, but with the size of the bump, it makes it slightly short. I had to wear the waist over my bump haha.
How To Style A Faux Leather Pleated Skirt
This Pleated Skirt
I want to talk about this specific skirt. First of all, I was impressed that it actually looks really good considering I bought it from Amazon. Sometimes the clothing retailers on Amazon can be sketchy. Thank goodness they have a good return policy. For faux leather material, it doesn’t look cheap or plastic-looking.
It’s only $30 and fits true to size. Whenever I mention true to size, I’m talking about my pre-pregnancy body. I am usually a size small in skirts and normally my waist is a size 27 (or size 4). Since this is an elastic waistband it was able to accommodate my growing belly. So I definitely think this skirt is worth trying!
Below are some other great faux leather pleated skirts:
Pair It With A Sweater
Any sweater will do! You can wear a more fitted sweater, turtleneck sweater, or a chunky knit sweater. I just think the different texture from the sweater against the faux leather creates dimension to the outfit.
In my outfit, I decided to pair it with a more fitted turtleneck sweater with puff-sleeves. You can’t go wrong with puff-sleeves. They immediately elevate an outfit.
Layer With A Checked Coat
I have been obsessed with checked coats. Every year, I’m always looking and buying one. But since our coat closet is overflowing, I had to limit myself haha. My particular coat is no longer available. But there are some other good options below.
If you are not into checked coats, I personally think any wool coat will do especially around the holidays and Winter. Wool coats are the ‘it’ accessory and fashion must-haves during the cold months. If you are feeling bold, go for a more vibrant colored wool coat. Blair Eadie from Atlantic-Pacific has done an amazing job wearing bright colored coats!
In general, you can’t go wrong with wearing a pair of neutral shoes. They basically go with anything. And they’re timeless and classic. I highly recommend buying a really good pair. One that is extremely comfortable and made to last for a long time. I’ve mentioned this before, but I love Naturalizer shoes. If you want to splurge a bit, Sarah Flint or Margaux shoes are good options too.
So what are your thoughts on wearing faux leather pleated skirts? Have you tried it? Is there a favorite brand you recommend? I always love hearing your suggestions!
