First of all I can’t believe that Christmas Eve is tomorrow! WHOA! Pretty much after Christmas I’m already checked out for the year and ready for the new year. Are you ready? I totally am. I think I’m mainly ready for 2021 because I have a baby that will be here in March. I just can’t wait to meet our little Sweet Pea!
Sweater dresses are classic and timeless. But more recently, I have an OBSESSION with sweater dresses. So don’t be surprised when you see lots of them from me this Winter. I think I’ve been loving sweater dresses because they’re so comfortable when you’re pregnant. They can keep me warm and cozy and I don’t have to think about wearing pants haha. I mean even after awhile I’m just so over it with wearing leggings.
My Camel Sweater Dress
The ideal sweater dresses to wear in the Winter are the long length ones. The ones that are midi length that hit the calf length or even longer. That way you can ensure your bare legs are warm. And if you want an extra layer, I recommend wearing tights underneath. I’m currently looking for the perfect sweater tights. Do you have any recommendations? I used to have a pair of sweater tights I love, but now I can’t find them. I’m starting to think I may have accidentally donated them.
Ok, now let’s talk about this dress I’m wearing. You can’t go wrong with wearing a camel colored sweater dress. The color camel is so timeless. It is also known to be a sophisticated color. No matter what other color you pair with it, it will always look elevated.
Sizing Information
Let’s talk about my specific sweater dress. This is a non-maternity dress but as you can see it is very bump-friendly! Again, another reason why I love a maxi or midi sweater dress. They’re very bump-friendly. And as you can see, I’m very much bumpin’ haha.
Overall, the dress fits true to size. I’m wearing my pre-pregnancy size and it fits comfortably and I think there is still room to go. I’ll probably be able to wear it all throughout my remaining pregnancy. To give you a general idea, before I was pregnant I weighed 140 lbs and usually wore size small, but sometimes XS especially in dresses and tops. For jeans, pants, and skirts I also wear a size small, size 4, or size 27. I’m also 5’4″ tall. Hope this helps!
Quality
I’m so impressed with the quality. Sometimes with ribbed sweater dresses the material can be on the thinner side. This sweater dress is thicker which I love because that’s what I want for Winter. It has the thickness without looking heavy. It’s also soft and not scratchy at all. Which is key when it comes to anything made with sweater material. Last thing I want to do is worry about itchy skin with this pregnancy.
How To Style A Camel Sweater Dress
Obviously, when I was putting this outfit together, I had Christmas in mind. So this might be my Christmas Eve outfit. But don’t be surprised if you see this dress in a future blog post styled a different way.
Create A Holiday Look
So let’s start with what I already created which is a holiday outfit. I love adding pops of red to camel to make it festive. So I went with the red lips and red headband as my accents. It’s simple yet effective.
Minimalist
You can go the minimalist style. Camel is great with the minimalist fashion style. Just keep it simple and add dainty jewelry as an accent. My gold hoop earrings and monogram necklace are the perfect minimalist accents.
Accessorize With Headbands
The easiest accessory, yet makes the biggest statement, is wearing a headband with this outfit. I’m a big fan of the turban headband. But there are so many different options out there. Wearing a headband makes a big difference without much effort.
Go Monochromatic
I always love to create a monochromatic outfit when I have the opportunity to do so. So I went with my camel wool coat (runs large so I recommend sizing down) and brown leather boots. You can’t go wrong!
Add Layers
Layering with a sweater dress is so much fun. I always do and lately I have been showcasing that in my Instagram Stories. The most obvious way is to layer with a coat. If you want to look ultra chic, wear a long black coat. It’s so sleek and sharp. Or you can create a skirt effect by wearing a chunky sweater over the dress. In the Springtime, I recommend going casual and pairing it with a jean jacket.
