One Tiered Maxi Dress Worn 2 Different Ways
Remember when I shared this maxi dress from my Madewell try-on & review post? I briefly shared that this one tiered maxi dress can be worn 2 different ways. Can you guys see what I did? Or maybe you read that try-on post and already know? Regardless if you read it or not, I figured it would be fun to share how I styled it!
Style One
The first way to wear this maxi dress is wearing it how it is supposed to be worn. It’s a cute mixed print tiered maxi dress with a tie-back detail. The tie-back is adjustable. So it definitely works if you are bustier on top. It’s such a breathable dress! When these photos were taken, it was scorching hot! The sun was beating down on us and it was at least 91 degrees (Fahrenheit). Hence, why I am squinting in most of the photos. Of course, there was zero shade on the lakefront. So if you are wondering if this dress is made for hot summers, my answer is that it definitely is! And the fabric doesn’t feel cheap at all. Definitely feels high quality and well made.
Style Two
The second way to wear this maxi dress is wearing it backwards. Tie-front dresses are so in lately. Many dresses are purposely made to have the tie-front. Hence why I decided to wear it this way when I saw that the dress was originally made as a tie-back dress. And guess what? It totally works! When I shared this on Instagram, many of you loved that I wore it backwards. And I will admit, I love wearing it this way so much better!
Honest Thoughts On This Tiered Maxi Dress
Unfortunately, I don’t think wearing it backwards is made for bustier chests. I’m unsure how much coverage it can provide, ya know? But hey, if you have a chest larger than mine and wearing it backwards works, let me know! I want to be able to share with everyone else that update!
FYI, my chest is a 32C. Hopefully this gives a good idea. I do think it can accommodate a slightly larger chest size, but not sure how much larger. I want to be as honest as possible because I don’t want any of you to be disappointed when you attempt to wear this exact dress backwards.
Other Tiered Maxi Dress
Since this dress is close to selling out (because it’s that good!), I figured I’d share out Madewell’s tiered maxi dresses.
Get Creative
I think this dress is an example that you can get creative with how you wear something. You don’t have to wear it the way it is supposed to be worn. For instance, if you own an article of clothing and you know it would be more flattering worn a certain way, go for it! I do this all the time with my outfits. I experiment and I am able to use more of my clothes in my closet. It’s a win-win. Plus, it’s fun getting creative! Was there a time you wore a dress or outfit different than the way it was meant to be worn?

Perfect maxi dress 🙂

It’s so much fun to experiment with clothing and see what you can make happen. I love this dress styled both ways – but I’m sorry the backwards way doesn’t work as well for a larger chest. I guess it’d be perfect for me since I’m literally the QUEEN of the itty bitty titty committee. Haha!
It really is fun! Yea that’s the bummer part. But who knows, maybe it does? I’m just assuming!
I really like the pattern and style of this dress! How creative of you to wear it two different ways!
