Dress For Fall When It Feels Like Summer
Ever since Labor Day weekend, it almost feels like everyone is in Fall mode. Although, I’m still yearning for Summer. Let’s be real, Chicago truly only gets Fall for 2 weeks and it immediately goes straight to Winter… for the next 6-8 months, UGH!
Anyways, if you’re in Fall mode and it feels like Summer still, thinking about cardigans, sweaters, and pants seems to be overkill. Eww can you imagine sweating in a sweater?! But there is a way to embrace Fall fashion while still dressing for Summer. I’m sharing 3 tips on how to dress for Fall when it feels like Summer.
3 Tips On How Dress For Fall When It Feels Like Summer
Wear Dark and Neutral Colors
Summer time is all about vibrant and pastel colors and light neutral. Time to bust out the dark, deep colors in all the Summer clothes. I’m talking about wearing black, camel brown, burnt orange, etc. No you don’t need to wear a long sleeve. Just wear a sleeveless top or wear these colors in dresses. I rarely wear black in the Summer. For me, I went with a sleeveless black tank and black strappy heels.
My black tank top fits true to size. I’m wearing a small. It might be hard to tell in the photo, but if you look closely it has texture and creates a chevron pattern. It’s a nice change to a classic black tank top. My black heels also fit true to size and also comes in wide fit. The heels are only 2 inches, and I was very surprised how comfortable they were! It also has a zipper in the back so that you don’t need to unbuckle each strap!
Wear Fall Trends in Summer Clothes
One of the biggest Fall trends this year is animal print, especially anything in leopard print. I took advantage of wearing a leopard print skirt. I also love this leopard print skirt because you can wear it when the temperature drops. I replaced my black heels with tall black boots so that my legs are covered. For this exact leopard print skirt, I’m wearing my true size which is a small. It fits fine but I do wish I sized down. Since it is an elastic waistband, I want it to be more fitted around the waist. In my opinion, elastic waistbands are more flattering when they are slightly (not overly) snug around the waist. But since this is a minute size issue, I can easily take it in myself (aka have my mom do it ha).
Wear Close-Toed Shoes
Maybe this is my perception, but whenever I see open-toed shoes I think Summer. So during Fall and ESPECIALLY Winter, I go for close-toed shoes. I switched out my favorite summertime heels to these black heels. The pointed-toe style, black color, and strappy details have that Fall feel to it. As I mentioned above, I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable they were! And if you know me, I only invest in comfortable shoes now. No more fast-fashion shoes for me that give me blisters by the end of the day. But these heels are extremely budget friendly. They only cost $38 and they frequently have promos!
Last Detail
One detail I didn’t have a chance to point out is my belt bag. I’ve worn one before but I love how this one has one solid color and it can be personalized! The personalization has a very similar style to Mark & Graham, but at a fraction of the cost. My belt bag only cost me $28. The only downside to my bag is that it only has one size. So when I wore it around my waist, it was too big. There’s weren’t enough holes in the belt. So I had to add additional holes to it to make it fit. So I wish they provided different sizing similar to any type of belts i.e. XS, S, M, L, XL, etc.
